    Karol Legierski was born in Katowice Poland and studied in Poland and Germany. Karol completed his studies at the Berlin University of the Arts in the class of Professors Thomaszewski, Haiberg and Tomes. Legierski played with several top notch symphony orchestras and ensembles in Europe which include the Radio Orchestra (Berlin), the Konzerthausorchester (Berlin) as well as the Berliner Symphoniker to name but a few. In Poland Legierski served as concertmaster of the Filharmonia Gorzowska as well as the Filharmonia Sudecka and in Germany with the Berlin Chamber Soloists and the Thüringen Symphoniker.
    As orchestral musician Legierski performed under the baton of conductors, in the likes of Bernhard Haitink, Kent Nagano, Lothar Zagrosek. In 2002 he was awarded a special prize at the International Violin Competition in Katowice, Poland. He also performed as a member of the Plural Ensemble Madrid in Spain. Legierski presented masterclasses at the School of Music in Gorzow Wielkopolski, and more recently at the Odeion School of Musi (University of the Free State), and at the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre. As chamber musician and soloist he also performed in Europe and Asia.
    Legierski’s spouse Marianne Cilliers Legierska is South African, and hailing from Bloemfontein. She studied in South Africa under the tutelage of Prof Jack De Wet. After completing her BMUS degree at UNISA she continued her studies abroad in the USA, France (Fontainebleau) and Austria at the prestigious Mozarteum Salzburg under the tutelage of Prof Paul Roczek. She completed a Doctor of Music (DMA) from the Michigan State University, USA. Her studies in France were followed by a concert in Paris, where she was associate concertmaster under the baton of Philippe Entremont.
    She toured as member of the Philharmonie der Nationen under Justus Frantz in both Germany and Spain. She was also a member of the Berliner Symphoniker, the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra in Frankfurt am Main, the Collegium Musicum in Salzburg and the Greater Lansing Symphony Orchestra in the USA under Gustav Meier. She attended masterclasses in Austria, France, the Netherlands and New York. In South Africa, she performed as soloist with the former PACOFS Symphony orchestra, the Johannesburg Symphony orchestra, and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. She taught in music schools in Berlin Hamburg and Neustrelitz.
    Both Legerski and Cilliers are currently enrolled as Phd scholars at the Odeion School of Music (University of the Free State). Legierski is the concert master of the OSM CAMERATA and Cilliers principal of the second violins. Both Legierski and Ciliers are also serving as instructors and mentors to the members of the OSM CAMERATA and participated with the ensemble at the 13th International Conservatory Festival which took place at the Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory in St Petersburg towards the end of last year. For her Phd study at the OSM Marianne would like to research the pedagogy and technique of Prof Jack de Wet underpinned by the application of bio -kinetics as neuro-muscular catalyst. Karol is planning to investigate the dual role of concert master - conductor and will collaborate with the OSM CAMERATA in this regard.
    Karol recently participated as a clinician with the artistic director of the Odeion String Quartet Samson Diamand in the OSM MASTERCLASS project which will be released on the website of CLASSICSA and the OSM CHANNEL, OSM MASTERCLASS.
