  • Broome, in the far north of Western Australia, is closer to Indonesia than its own state capital of Perth. This country town is known for many things, from indigenous art, culture and heritage to pearl farming and Cable Beach, a glistening ribbon of sand famed for its spectacular sunset camel rides. Broome is also notorious for deadly jellyfish and crocodiles, so unsurprisingly, surfing has never been high on the list of must-do things for any visitor to Broome. But Aussie journeymen Jay Davies and Harry Bryant decided to roll the dice on a rare cyclone swell - the results were, umm, interesting.

I like the fact that rarely surfed waves in such desolate locations stil exist. Kinda inspiring. Sure threre are some waves like this somewhere in South Africa.🤙

Breaks just how i thought it would.
I'm from the west coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico and I've looked at the Broome area for years thinking of what it's like on those short period cyclone swells that are similar to our Hurricane swells. I really enjoyed this. Interesting that we have alligators here that swim out the inlets into the salt water.

Would have been better the week leading up to the cyclone passing when the wind would have been offshore.
