What a great find. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen one in Java Green in person before. My very first car was a 1972 Spitfire that I bought in 1979. Mine was in Sienna Brown, which I loved. The Spitfire is such a gorgeous design. Though they didn’t offer much in terms of performance, it is hard to beat top-down motoring on a beautiful day. I hope that you enjoy this car to the fullest!
My first new car was a 76 Spit in Java Green. Loved the car, at times hated it too but the most fun going slow of any car I’ve owned. Period correct side mirrors were chrome “bullet” style. Your rear bumper is from an earlier Spit. Front bonnet and rear boot “1500…” decals would be nice. Looks like a great project car that you can drive and enjoy while you sort it out.
It's beautiful! Like a new steering wheel. I've always appreciated that color. Convenient to be be able to smooth the paint before applying the decals. One of Giovanni Michelotti's best designs.
@@Chris_GasolineGarage You can use it on third or fourth gear, it's not like cruise control which turns off automatically on touching the pedals, you have to flip the switch. I fitted one to a Spit 3 which was straightforward but you need a shorter propshaft that then requires balancing. It saves the engine on today's roads.
Nice!! I am buying a 1975 Spitfire 1500 in Java Green this coming weekend and can't wait to get into getting road ready. Only problem is my steering wheel is on the left side over here in the States! LOL!
That’s great I bet you can’t I bought mine in the morning and collected it the same day 🤣 I really like the Java green it’s a really rare colour here haha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Chris_GasolineGarage I'm not sure about how many where painted Java green is 1975 and imported to the states but would be nice to no. Just watched your last video on putting the decals on. I will be doing the same once I get the car back here Saturday.
Thanks for watching I don’t have a light in the passenger foot well I only have a light in the drivers foot well but I have a map light in the passenger side

I see an overdrive switch on the gear knob a great bonus! 😊

That radio surround is original and helps cut down vibration
I didn’t know that thanks
You are lucky to have that hard top, they look really good on the car, and transform it in the Winter
I think so too!
Saw this on eBay and was very tempted myself, looks lovely in that colour!
Thank you I really like Java green couldn’t believe it was 10 minutes up the road too
Lovely little car looks fun. Nice little summer car
They are very nice on a hot day
very tidy little spit. good purchase mate
Thanks mate 👍🏻
I believe that light is to illuminate the ignition key.
I see the seat cushions are escaping one crumb at a time.
Just gorgeous.
Thank you! 😊
Looks tidy but the 1500 engine is gash, A weak bottom end and the crank thrust washers can fall out!
I have a radio surround same with my 1500, and a light in the passenger foot well
Thanks for watching I don’t have a light in the passenger foot well I only have a light in the drivers foot well but I have a map light in the passenger side
We used to take off those BL badges from the front wings, because BL.
