    Locals called it “Snovember”. I live a twenty minute drive from the deepest snow and only got a dusting on my lawn.

      ikr, it was the best for me. I wish I could re-live the experience, but knowing I live in the Buffalo suburbs, on the Cheektowaga, West Seneca town borders, we'll get more, we already got hit with a 1 or 2 lake effect snowstorms already, obviously not as severe as "snowvember", but they weren't just a few flurries, so this winter, I'm hoping for more excitement.

    I remember my husband & a ton of other people had to go shoveling roofs bc they were caving in from all the weight of the snow so they had to shovel it off a lot of houses & businesses.

      @David Pyc it was wild. I worked at Derrick corporation at the time. They put me up at the millennium for the week. When I first tried to get home (I lived in Lakeview) I got stuck on Washington for 2 hours. Had a little Chevy tracker that got through everything like a trooper. Cruising past big duelies stuck in the snow and digging them out. But the guard had all the main streets closed. Storms like that bring our the great people and charm of cities like buffalo. Everyone was helping each other.

    Goodness...
    It was a freak storm, not a monthly or even a YEARLY occurrence! Media loves to pick on Buffalo as if we live under constant snow in the winter! As i write this....JANUARY 2020.....we have experienced what amounts to a mere dusting since winter began! Go focus your interests in other devastating areas with deadly results as common as breathing! We'll stay right here!

    The difference between weather and climate is a measure of time.
    Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time.
    Climate Change . Trust science , not corporate polluters.

    Watching this in 2019, just getting towards winter, and personally I am starting to prepare for an extreme weather event or events, if I don’t need to then so be it, but if I do, then at least I have the comfort of knowing I did the right thing, as opposed to those who think that extreme weather events are not going to affect them, just because they live in an area that doesn’t usually experience extreme weather, but never say never, climate change is real, man made or not, it’s changing, and for the worse.

    • @pohakumana4288

      he posted that 2 months ago lol, so it was NOT December at that time. According to when it was posted, it was either posted in early October or late September. Maybe look at when the comment was posted...

    • @ARandomInternetUser08
      @ARandomInternetUser08 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh and btw, just because it's December does not mean it's winter. Astronomical Winter (one of the actual legitimate starts to a season) does not technically start until December 21st, aka, the Winter Solstice.

      In Florida it is.
      ~
      It's been 5-8 degrees Fahrenheit here in Indiana and we have weeks til Winter official arrives.
      All that Snow in Buffalo reminds me of the Blizzard of 77-78, we had 14' drifts.
      ~~
      Anyway, putting my shorts on to work in the yard, we're having a heat wave today, it's 30 degrees F!

      You think I didn't catch that you live up North,haha.
      Looking at Edmonton's Weather History it's very hard to find a one day snow event over 5'-8' like Buffalo got.
      Can you point me to a year?
      That's a crap ton of snow for anyone at one time, we can agree to that eh?
      Cheers.

      That was just the beginning of our winter. From January to mid March temperatures barely reached 10F, we had weeks where it didn't even make it to 0F. At night it would drop to -20F to -30F. It's funny, as I type this its 45F out right now and it feels absolutely freezing out lol, when spring hit after last years winter 45F felt like a heat wave, I was out in a T-Shirt lol.

If people are annoyed at this post, just remember. YOU'RE the ones who are too dumb to prep for this type of shit. I know how to stay warm in this weather. That's because I've learned how. If you haven't yet, than that's your fault.

      We were only supposed to get 2ft which is nothing, and it's almost impossible to prepare for 7 feet of snow that fell over night. It took 3 days to shovel out our driveway and roof, shoveling 5+ hours per day. 14 people died, hundreds of roofs collapsed, and we were trapped for 4 days. If that's your idea of fun, well I don't know what to tell you.

    • @NavigatedChaos
      @NavigatedChaos 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason 14 people died, was because they didn't know when to stop shoveling and take a break. That is exactly what happened.

    • @rebeccaknight93
      @rebeccaknight93 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well yes, but that doesn't make them stupid. Perhaps they were trying to help their families out and in most cases, people were shoveling off their roofs so they wouldn't collapse on them. Some people died because they were stranded in their cars and suffocated. No one expected it to be that bad. Either way no one deserved to die. I mean, believe what you want but I'm just informing you of what really happened seeing as I went through it as well.
