In most of these type of videos, the door is cut out completely then hinges are added. When I make these, I cut only one side, then apply the hinge, then finish cutting the rest of the door. It saves time with alignment. Glad to see you think the same way brother! Love the technique and am now a subscriber. Nothing like taking throwaways and making something useful!!!

I made one of these firepits from garbage someone threw out on my road, but neigh had to make one better than mine with wheels! Haha!

Yes, it's a good tool, but I want to add it is a very dangerous tool. I cut my finger down to the bone and my neighbor across the street, cut into the knuckle on the back of his hand. When you are grinding grip the grinder very tight so the grinder does not slip especially if you are grinding above your head. Be sure the grinder has a shield.

I fought my washer for 5 hours before I was able to extract the drum from my old washer.

Suresh Holla True, i wanted sideway access to refill te wood, so i would not need to lift the grill up, but in the end it burns so long and clean, refilling is not much needed.
Front loader washer, now converted to top loader fire pit! Very nice indeed!

Ihad one similar to that one . i left the bolt in place. Iused a 3 foot of pipe for my stand. I also had mole scaring sound devices that you had to use a hole auger to install them. I would auger a hole 14 inches down than hammer the pipe about 4 more inches. Never had it tip over. On the 12th year of using it at state parks and it was stolen.

Great idea, before I start building one, or buy one of them, I would like to suggest a further improvement: You could add something for allowing the adjustment of the height of the grill roast or any other feature for enabling the heat regulation as heat regulation is required for excellent cooking.
All I do is throw the grill on it to warm water. If I want to grill on it I use hard wood like oak. It don't let the flames get to big. Adding some charcoal to keep the heat with out the flame also works great. One thing that I use it for is cooking with a Dutch oven. It fits perfectly into and acts as a wind break

How does the metal hold up to the heat over time? I know the stainless won't rust but will it start to warp and collapse over time from the heat?

but it is alsno not shiny anymore. Still going strong.
mine has bullet holes from being dumped on our rd an used for target practice. then neighbor liked mine, but his had to be better with wheels!

Dank je. Het deurtje is een beetje overkill maar was bedoeld om hout er in te doen ala het rooster er op ligt met eten er op, dus dat je er jiet alles weer af hoeft te halen.

sorry for being fussy but not sure you needed to cut out the top, the hole looked just the right size for a pan, and the grill would still work due to heat transfer, good idea though
mark williams Hi, i cut the rim down so it would be easier to fill it up with wood in case inwould be used as a fire put only. I left a small edge just so it could function as well as a bbq. I gave it away to a friend who now uses it actually only as a firepit.
If the main use would be bbq’ing, you’re absolutly right.

Great job repurposing! How about a grate to put the firewood on so it doesn't burn through as quickly....
Adon Lando Good idea, but so far after almost 1.5 year it didn’t burn through yet, and it’s 24/7 outside. Those old washing machines where made of proper stuff.
Less smoke if you build the fire on top of the stacked wood.

Just in case you want to add wood when the grill is there with food or pots on it, so you dont need to remove it to feed the fire.
