You're right, JK is capable of doing high notes but he doesn't overuse it. He is just so good at singing. One of his strengths is his smooth transition between register. Sometimes we can't tell when one ends or when the other one starts. When he sings he really brings us to a different world. Every time I hear this song it always feels like I'm in a cafe on a rainy day watching the pedestrians outside.
This is a non-commercial song he released on SoundCloud for ARMYs during the peak time of pandemic when ARMYs n BTS were longing for each other desperately. It has a lot of metaphors...read the lyrics again, u would just wanna grab ur pillow n cry.🥺
Still with u went beyond in beautifully portraying that essence of longing emotion n a bit of regret when he says "If I knew it was gonna be like this,I could have hold more firmly onto those simple feelings of happiness, love n sadness that ARMYs n BTS have shared over the yrs"

A video was released recently of Charlie Puth telling the story of how he found out that Jeongguk has perfect pitch! Can you imagine, all of us Army's always being so drawn and attached to Jeongguk's singing. How everyone is captivated by his voice and his talent. The things he can do with his voice are indescribable. But now we know! He has PERFECT PITCH! He is truly born with talent and skill, combined with all of his hard work and practice over the years, he truly has one of the most angelic voices I have ever heard in my entire life. I'm so grateful that he chose to share his talent with the world. Jeongguk is so special to me. This song, and his song he released for 2022 Festa "My You" are my comfort songs. They make me feel so loved, as an Army. Jeongguk makes me so happy and never fails to tell Army just how much he loves us. I am grateful to be an Army.

I was amazed when you described your minds visual - I was thinking the same thing - a small intimate smoky jazz club, late at night - JK lit by 1 spot on stage, the band in the background, couples sitting at little tables intimately talking in hushed tones. LMAO, The scene that you described of the jazz club is exactly what came to my mind the first time I heard this song. Also, if you didn't know, he released an acapella version of this song, too. It has some big pauses where the instrumentals are, but you can clearly hear the multiple layers when he harmonizes with himself.
