    • John Wilkes Booth in t...
Near the 149th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's assassination, I undertook a project to reenact an often forgotten part of the assassin's escape route. For four and a half days between April 16 - April 21, 1865, John Wilkes Booth and his accomplice, David E. Herold, hid from federal troops in the southern Maryland woods. This project documents my effort to reenact those days in order to better appreciate how those days and nights in the wilderness impacted the assassin of President Lincoln. this is one outstanding young man and by all means keep videos alive, the schools do not teach this and a lot of kids today do not even know who Lincoln was. this video is very well made as all of Mr, Taylor's videos good job.

Dave, please do the world a favor and have at least 20 children. Great stuff. Glad there are still some “youngsters” out there that still appreciate American history.

I have enjoyed all your videos and lectures as well. This part of civil war history is very interesting as my Paternal Grandmother was a Mudd. Our Mudd's were already in the Bardstown Ky area when this tragedy occurred.

Is that the actual alley behind Ford’s Theater (then called Baptist Alley) that Booth escaped through?

actually, according to firsthand eyewittness accounts, booth says FREEDOM while shooting lincoln, then at center stage he says sic semper, virginias honor is avenged, then as he leaves the stage he says, i have done it.

A question for Mr. Taylor. Circa 2013 or 2014 I took the bus tour from the Surratt Tavern to Ford's theater and all points south ending at the Garrett farm in the medium of Virginia route 301 near A.P. Hill. I do recall the posted sign, at that location, being updated via Mr. Taylor's efforts. As the bus exited the Dr. Mudd residence there was a short comment about a one-eyed horse that linked Dr. Mudd to Booth. Could you refresh the memory about that linkage? TIA

John Wilkes Booth spent the night at Dr. Mudd’s home on the night of December 18, 1864. The next day Booth purchased a one eyed horse from George Gardiner who lived next door to the Dr. Mudd farm. On the night of Lincoln’s assassination, this horse was ridden by Lewis Powell. On December 20, Dr. Mudd spent his birthday taking Booth into Bryantown in order to visit a blacksmith to shoe up this new horse.

When I was looking at the white house, had notice there were two peoples inside, by looking though the window. Must be a visitor.
