1) don’t ever buy a brand new car. 2) never stay with the same insurer every year. Who still does this except old people. 3) you would have had the opportunity at court to plead not guilty. If you plead guilty the court has no option but to issue an IN10.

Saying you forgot about it makes it even worse, especially to future employees or agencies. Please be careful mate. I genuinely feel your pain as I had similar endorsements about 18 years ago for not paying road tax. Be honest, be positive and know that it never stopped me driving. It just made things a bit more difficult is all. Best of luck to you.

From someone who started out 28 years ago when you could go direct to a Class One, I have seen it all. I've never had much time for agencies as they are parasites of the truck driving industry in the UK. They make you believe that it's the only way to get a driving job. There are, however, plenty of small companies who will always give people a go regardless of your points as they don't like paying the agency fees on top of your wages. I gave up on the UK 10 years ago and came down under to the land of the road train with real jobs and decent wages. At some point, the UK trucking industry might eventually start treating its drivers with some respect and paying them properly for the valuable skills they bring to the workforce!
@@Deady2012 If you are looking for decent money don't go to New Zealand. The big money for truck drivers is in Australia and whilst you probably won't get a work Visa as a truck driver at this stage, should Brexit eventually happen, it has already been discussed between both governments that new agreements between the UK and Australia may be put in place very quickly for free movement just the same as is already in place between Australia and New Zealand.

Hey mate, I hope this all works out for you as its obvious how much you want to succeed at this. Its mad how a small oversight can cause a lot of problems. Wish you all the best in finding work. I'm enjoying your content, very informative!. The more information the better. I Passed my mod 2 tuesday and really looking forward to the training which I'm starting on the 18th!
Hi mate! Try direct to the firm! There's a lot of , " retailers" looking for drivers! In Bristol... Coventry... Bedford... Liverpool... Birmingham... Good luck!
Sorry to hear you have all that grief over a genuine mistake. I've just passed my medical and I'm about to do the training. I currently have 6 points on my licence so I'm not sure if I'm going to have trouble finding work. Your video also brought something else to my attention. I'm concerned now that my insurance might be void because I've modified my car so I'm going to have to look into that.
I'm with a Broker & my insurance policy didn't change at all after declaring mods. It's worth it just incase you have a bump mate. I think you'll be alright with 6 points, but no more. Slow down abit mate hahaha!
That really is unfortunate mate ): It really messes everything up doesn't it ): I have my fingers crossed for you that you will find work immediately! (:
Mate Insurance endoresments last 5 years, I had it back in the day and is long gone. Just tick over until March and you will be fine, not even cat b delivery drivers can work having IN/DD/DR endoresments.
Come across your videos whilst doing my CPC revision which is next week fingers crossed i pass! That is a shame what has happened to you it really is, i hope you get work in between March rolling round. The one thing i could pass on from my journey is the time frame you may be lead to believe sometimes. I was told i would be on the road asap and the time between taking tests etc is minimal. Well it turns out its very hard to get booked in quickly and i am very relieved i booked my practical as soon as i passed my theory and hazard because it was a month away! Passed everything i have been faced with so far and currently passing all the practice tests for my CPC also. If you decide to leave your current job so you have more time to revise then get a minimal hour part time job instead because if it ends up taking longer to pass, the money you saved to cover you within your employment transition could dry up fast!
I'm sorry to hear your troubles!! you should go the direct route, agencies are never the best idea in my mind, been with far too many lol although "Driver Hire" might be able to help you if you have one local to you check them out and give them and call and see what they say... if it's worth while, otherwise speak with employers directly! it's worth a try no?... I wish you all the best in your career. As like you said I'm sure you'll make a fabulous LGV/HGV driver and that if these companies do not want to employ you see it as there loss not yours as I wouldn't waste my time tbh… says more about them rather than your past history #Deady2012 :) I mean as you props know from my messages I have not yet got my licence but am already looking to gain full time employment with a reputable business local to me by calling and informing them of my intentions etc.. rather than agency work... Good luck!!! Ashley x
A bit late to the party but it's not the in10 that work is up and down. Agencies have a long list of drivers on their books and a limited number of jobs, agencies have 'favourites' that get all the work first and IF there's is other work or last minute work is when new drivers get a call. My advice is to register with as many agencies as you can find, I had about 7 in my first year, now I get by with just 1 and they typically pay me over the odds as i always get good feedback from clients. Also, I recommend making some backup plans for the 'quiet period' work starts to slow down end of September and typically dies off mid/end of December and ALL work is scarce till new financial year end of April.
I agree with what you are saying mate! I'm working at loads of firms now, about 10 different ones. When in my first 2 weeks or so, no one would touch me lol! So i yeah, i do agree with you. Yeah i believe there is a quiet period. That's why i'm trying to work as hard as possible and hopefully i'll be able to get some sort of regular work with a fruit and veg firm or something. Thanks for your advice mate!
Problem with insurance companies is that they only have to send you letter and not contact you via phone or email to let you know about serious issues and they will automatically treat you like a criminal, I wont go on about my experience wich happened twice when I was the victim of fraud and was lucky not to be pulled over otherwise I would of been screwed twice. With people saying that they have definite work for you don't take it as a guarantee. I left a £400 a week job where I did sod all but move 7.5t vehicles into loading bays and off ready for the drivers in the morning, easy shunting work. To go on a part time barely £250 a week van driving job with the understanding that once I passed my class 1 I would shift over to class 1. It seemed to all go well I booked my class 1 and passed with ease, I then booked an assessment for the class 1 and passed with ease and told I had the job but not store deliveries but tramping. I waited and waited and never heard back so I left and signed with other agencies that would only try get you into class 2 which I didn't want. Eventually one agency I never signed up to phoned for an easy class 2 job which was 20 miles from home and because of how easy the job was and I knew the company from my courier days I took it, and also was told that eventually they would get a class 1 vehicle. After a few months i asked about the class 1 and they said "we don't know yet but if we do it will be running from the Midlands.", well that is no good to me and so I start looking elsewhere for class 1, having no experience it's very very difficult on class 1 to the point that I was going to give up on it. The company that I originally went with that I passed the assessment with and was told I had the job use an agency for the store deliveries and employ direct for the tramping. No joke in total i contacted the agency via adverts and phone calls 7 times and rejected 7 times due the fact of no experience. Eventually the good lads at Driver Hire in Crawley found 2 clients that were willing to give me a chance and did that for just over 1 month with them doing trunking work. I then applied for the one I had my eyes on in the beginning for the 8th time and got a phone call the next day and within a week I was in there driving their trucks, took me 8 months to get in there even thou I passed an assessment with the company directly but obviously I was in a short list and the better driver on paper got the job. Now I am one of the most trusted drivers in there. It's hard not to take it personally when you apply for these jobs and are constantly rejected, but unfortunately at 1st you are only ever judged on paper and it's very difficult to prove yourself if you're not given a chance. Never give up and never take anything personally as it is the nature of the industry.
Stick at it and it will come good, as other comments call on local firms and something may be there or call in a truckstop and speak to other drivers and staff you may get a pointer. Main thing don't give up !! All the best mate
In10 probably may of been the main issue. But also as a New HGV Driver you can be overlooked as well. Can be a struggle to get started. Also consider doing you’re class 1 as well it would also aid as well but yes it’s more £££ and time. And am glad you have started working once you have 1to 2 years it gets easyer to get work. Good vid
A bump in the road for you mate for sure. Well done for not letting it defeat you. Not your fault in my opinion. Passed my HGV not long after you, been driving PCV for last 2 years. Doing my research on what's out there, just in case.
Typical agency's.Not your fault what happened, would have been nice for one of them to contact you and tell you what they found.Hope you get sorted soon.Don't lose heart,we need all the good truckers we can get.Keep safe and keep on truckin'.
Hi I appreciate your videos. Something I found out shortly after joining an agency ( and they don't tell you) was that because you're not working out of the agency building, you're driving directly to their customers. You will need to have your vehicle you travel to work in insured for business use, and that travel time also forms part of your working day.
Not true, majority of insurers will determine commuting to one place as just that. If you as part of your employment travel to more than one place of work in one day, then it becomes business. Im an ex insurance broker in personal and business insurance. Your agency who gave that advice was just backside covering.
Hey mate. Sad to hear what such a small error can do to your career :( But at least in the March you will have a 6 months driving experience, which will help you to get a decent work asap :) PS: I'we had similar situation, but without the points. Just 'driving on the bus lane' fine that came to my old address. Ended up paying twice to the debt collectors.
The word is an 'absolute offense', if you are ever in that situation again always go to court and plead to the magistrate, in those circs you would have likely got fewer points or the matter dismissed out of court.
Theres loads of hgv work , its just unfortunate about what happened to you. I get bags and bags of work from an agency just doing van work, but my license has been clean for a few years now. Before I had points for being on the phone and yes some clients wouldn't touch me with that , but most still did want to give me work .
That’s a right kick in the teeth when there’s a simple unforeseen error that’s not directly your fault, you put it right & then it restricts you in your new career (which isn’t cheap) especially when no harm was done. Few months & it’ll be off your license mate, then you’ll be rock’in!.., welcome to the hgv world!👍
Regardless of what happened don't bother with agencies. In my experience with agencies they will just exploit you and keep your wages down in order to keep their 'clients' (ie the employers) happy. Very few agents give a crap about your rights and expectations. List a few companies that you would like to work for and have a good reputation and keep applying to them. Good luck.
I've been a hgv driver since leaving the military in 2010. Its all about the exp you have also. Many companies want experience. I advise you to Google places around your area that will take on new drivers and explain the situation with in10 if you get an opportunity. I live in Nottingham and I could get you work tomorrow. But obv that's no good to you. I hope it works out for you pal.
Thanks a lot mate! A lot has changed since this video haha! I'm getting sort of routine work now. But not earning very much lol! Thanks for your comment :)
@@Deady2012 I Hope it works out for you pal. You will earn the money eventually, but I will say your going to have some proper s**t days. I know we all have them but honestly you will be like what the F**k is happening. Anyway good luck in the future.
If your looking for driving in North Wales try Williams haulage looks quite a big firm and diliver a lot and pick up from ifor williams trailers mainly artics I think and proactive personnel agency based in Chester but ain't sure if they cater for driving jobs
I am going through a very similar thing. ..I thought my insurance was on auto renewal, two months later I got stopped, the same as you, never had points in the 30+ years of driving, always leagal and it was complete shock when the copper stopped me. I am contesting it as I am a class 1 driver and need my clean licence.
Try asking a few firms directly, call into some haulage firms around the area, plenty do class 2 work. Go in have a chat, explain the script and I'm sure you'd get somewhere. Lots willing to take on new passes, especially this time of year. You're obviously enthusiastic about it and they'll see that. Good luck 👍
Me ? Think im going to stay with Agency work tbh mate. I like the variety. It suits me and my lifestyle. I just need to get in the good books with one and get to March haha!
The best connection facing waterstones is crying out. Go see Yuri lol. Driving force Altrincham will get you work. They are looking for Kingsmill & Dominos drivers.
Hey Deady 2012 i've watched your channel from the start of your hgv training i really enjoy it i my self am newly passed with my cat C, C+E, and ADR, i have my cpc mod 4 on friday and i am shitting my self. my question to you is as a 19 year old hgv driver what are my chances with all my licences starting at driving force will they take me on or dismiss me because of my age? Love the channel my dude hope to see you on the road some day.
MOD4 is a piece of cake mate, can't really fail it lol. You get given all the answers before the test haha! You'll get work mate with any agency. Just keep knocking on doors.
I use to be a recruitment consultant for a driving company and it's a pain when u get good genuine drivers with issues like urs. Keep ur head up and plod on till it's off and u can check online the exact dates online by checking ur licence just so u can never forget the exact dates
Get yourself to Heysham port, in the ferry terminal you’ll find any amount of Irish firms looking for drivers. They’re so desperate for drivers that you’ll get a start. Piss money but better than nothing
Terrible mate someone as keen and helpful as yourself not getting any breaks good luck for the future I'm sure someone will give you a chance you totally deserts it cheers
I had an IN10 on my lisence around 10 years ago. Turned out one of the vans I was driving was on time restricted insurance even though we'd uses it all hours for work. The police asked me to produce documents with a week no issues. My employer didn't want to provide them. It went to court. I kind of got off lightly with a 2 week ban and the IN10 apparently. However, a few years later when I got my first insurance policy wow! It cost me £160/month to insure a 2001 Clio 😂😂😂. I thought I got a good deal until the IN10 revealed its effects. Agency work is a mixed bag. If you find something good just stick with it.
Yeah, it sucks a bit the IN10. But i have to be honest, now as people can see how i work, people are personally asking for me regardless of the IN10. It's going fair well... touch wood!
Any Points apart from serious offences stay on licence for 3 yrs but remain on your record for additional 1yr for Insurence purposes Stick with it Ring around or go into companies and present yourself explain the situation some companies may give you ago all the best with it

I got an in10 driving a motorcycle home that I just bought which I thought was insured as my policy covered me to ride other bikes so was driving it home with previous owners insurance third party but because I got pulled over on it for a small number plate they said insurance was invalid because I now own the bike I had to have it insured properly so I got in10, fine and bike taken away from me and had to pay to get it back from recovery company following day but if I said I was test driving it I would of got off with it

It's the same as speeding fines they come off licence after 3 years but still count for 4 years But most agencies require a person to sign that they have no Dr or in or a couple of other categories etc when you fill out original application etc But with agencies as you are driving other companies vehicles agencies usually require the driver to do their own d v l a check online and text them the code every 3 months You were just unlucky in getting the points due to a genuine technicality
numberplate guy yeah, my IN10 has expired, thats why i forgot about it. I didn’t realise it was still there lol! Its gone on 15th March lol. Can’t wait! Thanks for your comments mate!
@@Deady2012 Just this video has shown just how many drivers could be driving but aren't or could be but for these points etc which will slow down the chrimbo distribution network
Highlight of a HGV drivers day a car overtook me help. It's the most boring job in the world sitting holding onto the steering wheel trust me I tried it stay away
Deadly I was told of someone in a similar situation with insurance and the only thing different was he didn't have the original manufacturer's radio in his car he'd put his own after market one in n he had an accident the the insurance found out n they turned round n said his insurance was void
Bro I have just past class 2 and class 1 with a clean licence and I'm getting the same shit yeah the id10 don't help but all the agency's want exp and wont insure until you have had licence for a year simply as
I've got the same problem i have an IN10 thats recently expired, so now i have '0 points', Do you think it'll be hard getting work being a new hgv class 2 driver?
I'm a hgv driver too who pulled over by the police for driving a without insurance. I took the mater to court with all my evidence. I pleaded guilty with extenuating circumstances. I didn't get any in10 on my licence
In your case you should of pleaded guilty with extenuating circumstances take the mater to court show a copy of the cancellation of the insurance of your girlfriends car and copy of the reinstated insurance on the day you were pulled over. And any previous insurance you have had in past and explain to the court who an in10 can affect your livelihood as hgv driver.
Mate i would employ you just for wearing that T shirt, you only have to listen to you for 2 minutes to be able to tell your genuine and certainly no liar. Good luck for the future mate you deserve it. Subscribed👍
Points and convictions stay in your license for three years and they’re taken off but are on your DVLA record for four years then Your record is wiped clean but for Insurance purposes they stay on your record for five years but that’s only for insurance records which I think takes the piss cause if your license and DVLA record is clean then you’re all good in my eyes but no insurances have to get another year out of people piss take. I would’ve sued the insurance company to be honest in the last 3 to 5 years it’s telephone conversations and emails they wouldn’t just send letters they should’ve called or emailed really 👍👍
Got an IN10 myself 8 points etc, and wanting to do my class 2. Unfortunately mines on till 2022 does this mean I’ll struggle getting a class 2 job I thought the 2 licences was separate?
No you'll struggle like hell! I signed on with 5 agencies. Upto now there's only 1 that will give me work & that's only with like 3 different firms. It's all to do with Insurance that the companies have to pay.
@@connorburns6921 Tried another 5 agencies today, ADR accepted the IN10 but every client they had needed 12 months experience. It's so frustrating it's unbelievable!

They are live for 3 yrs but stay on your license for4 yrs!!,
Come across your videos whilst doing my CPC revision which is next week fingers crossed i pass! If you decide to leave your current job so you have more time to revise then get a minimal hour part time job instead because if it ends up taking longer to pass, the money you saved to cover you within your employment transition could dry up fast!
jcrx18 i’m already passed, i’m driving and vlogging about it now haha! It took me from April 2019-September 2019 from start to finish.
All the best mate hope things work out for the future..
Thanks alot mate!
Interesting vlogs i watch few and well done mate keep it up 👍😁
I'm sorry to hear your troubles!! you should go the direct route, agencies are never the best idea in my mind, been with far too many lol although "Driver Hire" might be able to help you if you have one local to you check them out and give them and call and see what they say... if it's worth while, otherwise speak with employers directly! it's worth a try no?...
Thanks alot mate! Appreciate it!
Good vid
Thanks a lot mate! I may do my Class 1 soon.
A bump in the road for you mate for sure. Well done for not letting it defeat you. Not your fault in my opinion.
Passed my HGV not long after you, been driving PCV for last 2 years. Doing my research on what's out there, just in case.
There is plenty work mate. Driver Hire always have work, somewhere, somehow. Roll on March! Thanks for watching mate.
Deady 2012 Passed Class 1 yesterday bud, first time. You going for yours?
Hi mate 👍 I watch you videos quite a lot lately and ive just passed my theory and cpc today!! Maybe see you on the road one day 🚚🤙
that's sad to hear wish you all the best in finding work and remember its there loss if they don't take you on.
Matthew Thanks alot mate!
Not very many drivers have ur enthusiasm mate and it seems we all have the same problems during our days hope u get sorted 👍
Thanks alot mate! Fingers crossed haha!
Your agency who gave that advice was just backside covering.
am under the same myself bro but dont let it beat u but becuse of this vidoe i phoned dvla and my prob that same issue hx and keep it up bro
Hey mate. Sad to hear what such a small error can do to your career :( But at least in the March you will have a 6 months driving experience, which will help you to get a decent work asap :)
PS: I'we had similar situation, but without the points. Just 'driving on the bus lane' fine that came to my old address. Ended up paying twice to the debt collectors.
Romans Gutted mate! Roll on March eh? Haha
Just subbed loving your content looking forward to watching more
Cheers mate! Thanks for watching :)
The word is an 'absolute offense', if you are ever in that situation again always go to court and plead to the magistrate, in those circs you would have likely got fewer points or the matter dismissed out of court.
@deady 2012 that is good to know, I’m just starting my LGV journey plus I’ve a modded car
Good luck mate! It's an awesome job!
Theres loads of hgv work , its just unfortunate about what happened to you. I get bags and bags of work from an agency just doing van work, but my license has been clean for a few years now. Before I had points for being on the phone and yes some clients wouldn't touch me with that , but most still did want to give me work .
Think yourself lucky, I was in a similar situation and was given 8 points and a £945 fine.
Nagel Langdons in Barnsley will take you on with an in10 as I have one and work for them in Bridgwater mate.
Thanks mate, i want to stick with agency work though for the time being. I think it'll be my best way to get variety.
Good luck.
I loved working for the Agency and i got paid really well for it. More than what i'm on now lol. It just wasn't guaranteed work.
Wow is pretty serious stuff this IN10! Hope you find something soon.
Thanks Mate. Probably have wait until March. But we'll see lol
in the UK i had TOP police nuke and RAF. never had prob with insurance. pay 500 a week after tax. on a rigid tipper.
Its just like everything else pal. Experience is everything. Keep going the first ten years are the worst, after that it's a doddle 😀😀😀
lazylad 90 10 years? Hahaha! In for a long slog then hah?
More like after ten years it's hell ! I'd rather milk cows by hand at 5am on a freezing cold morning than do a day of that now.!
If your looking for driving in North Wales try Williams haulage looks quite a big firm and diliver a lot and pick up from ifor williams trailers mainly artics I think and proactive personnel agency based in Chester but ain't sure if they cater for driving jobs
Wish i lived in Wales haha
I am going through a very similar thing. ..I thought my insurance was on auto renewal, two months later I got stopped, the same as you, never had points in the 30+ years of driving, always leagal and it was complete shock when the copper stopped me. I am contesting it as I am a class 1 driver and need my clean licence.
It's scary how easily it can happen. Even worse now as i'm a driver for a living. It could be catastrophic if anything happens can't it!>
Try asking a few firms directly, call into some haulage firms around the area, plenty do class 2 work.

Unrelated I know but do I say yes or no when publish ITS data comes up at the end of a Manuel entry? And what does this mean, regards
I think it means send your card data over to the firm you’re working for.
If you’re paid off your card, press yes lol.
I use to be a recruitment consultant for a driving company and it's a pain when u get good genuine drivers with issues like urs. Keep ur head up and plod on till it's off and u can check online the exact dates online by checking ur licence just so u can never forget the exact dates
Wadeys 15th March mate haha! Counting the days haha!
What about new passes?
Get yourself to Heysham port, in the ferry terminal you’ll find any amount of Irish firms looking for drivers. They’re so desperate for drivers that you’ll get a start. Piss money but better than nothing
Terrible mate someone as keen and helpful as yourself not getting any breaks good luck for the future I'm sure someone will give you a chance you totally deserts it cheers
Thanks alot mate. I'll get there lol.
It's going fair well... touch wood!
You had a defence in law that you reasonably thought your employer had the correct insurance you should have got a IN10 for that
Any Points apart from serious offences stay on licence for 3 yrs but remain on your record for additional 1yr for Insurence purposes Stick with it Ring around or go into companies and present yourself explain the situation some companies may give you ago
all the best with it

Hang in there mate....
My brother got an IN10 for not having "commuting" on his insurance. He went to court and the judge threw it out so I don't know why they said they had no leeway for you
Does anyone know if an LC20 effect your ability to get work ?
Unfortunately m8 it's a 4yr penalty but stays on your licence for 5yrs...but its the company insurance that's won't let you work
You should be a "drivers mate" for a few months until your licence is sorted out. Good luck 👊.
I have inquired about that mate. Seems like there aynt enough 'Mate' jobs out there for the ammount of folk that are in my position lol.
@@Deady2012 I'm based in St Helens and not drove class 2 since Christmas due to health issues but I'm now back on the lookout for decent local class 2 work myself and recently saw driver mate's advertised on Indeed for the Wigan area if that is any good for you mate. 👍
I have the same in10 mate. samething happen to me, was driving my partner car and get pulled over and i wasn't ensured to drive her car so i get slep with an ni10. Mine will be off August 2020, i ofto stick with tesco because they are fine with it.

Absolute bobbins aynt it mate!
So are you working now or did it affect your current agency?
Contact Asda head office a ring or email them.they are seeking out HGV DRIVERS URGENTLY

Wear H4H most of the time mate :)
I have a MS90 but the agency seem to be only worried about DD DR or IN codes. You think I’ll be ok?
Yep.
It's the same as speeding fines they come off licence after 3 years but still count for 4 years
But most agencies require a person to sign that they have no Dr or in or a couple of other categories etc when you fill out original application etc
But with agencies as you are driving other companies vehicles agencies usually require the driver to do their own d v l a check online and text them the code every 3 months
You were just unlucky in getting the points due to a genuine technicality
numberplate guy yeah, my IN10 has expired, thats why i forgot about it. I didn’t realise it was still there lol! Its gone on 15th March lol. Can’t wait!
Thanks for your comments mate!

in Your case you could of contested the the IN10 as you had extenuated and mitigated circumstances
Pointless mate. Fact is the car wasn't insured due to wrong address. Simple as that.
