The thing about Soyeon is that she can freestyle. Not a lot of female kpop idols can do that. She even did it accidentally in one of their live performance.
Soyeon tailors every album for the group so it’s no surprise she managed to make sure fans don’t feel like there is something missing in their comeback and she’s done really well
HWAA is the 3rd part of the song/story trilogy that Soyeon made. She said that to understand the story, you should listen to HANN (ALONE) >> HANN (Alone in Winter) >> HWAA. The already got the song ready but only shoot, recorded, and released in on January 2021 just to fit the winter season. they waited a year just for that reason. Senorita is a "weird" song especially in kpop industry since it didn't follow the generic song pattern. It's story is also about an abrupt love affair (one night stand maybe), that often didn't last and can be chaotic, thus the MV. Soyeon's rap is actually off beat that made the song weirder, but it actually fits the lyrics saying to only focus on her and not anything else. Fact: Soyeon's hair got burnt coz of those exploding light bulbs, which she finished the shoot first before noticing the damage, this is the reason that her hair is short in Uh-Oh and LION. Villain Dies is a antagonist song. Sure, it was off when the tone change, but then again Soyeon always puts stories behind their songs. Here, we are in a story where the villain is telling her side, and with her broken heart and mind mood at that. Imagine Harley Quinn being inlove with Batman, but batman is a real good guy and love someone else. Harley's mind is going thru a roller coaster of emotions and imaginations while writing a novel. This is why she said "When will this sad story end?...If the villain dies", which is the typical good-bad story. BUT, "I am the villain, and I NEVER DIE", meaning this story will never end "Even if it's your sad ending".. And at the end, Minnie said (in some translations), "Fill the last page(of the novel) with the villain's depressing laugh. Oh, write, oh, write, NEVER DIE". This album "I NEVER DIE" is also an album that the girls (and fans) are damn mad for what happened and thus these lyrics have those elements. Soyeon's rap stated that she hated "her" and it was "her" fault. (This MAY OR MAY NOT mean anything, and just creative writing)
I think why some of us miss soojin so much is because we've been with this group from the beginning, so we have gotten to see them grow as a group of 6. Personally I loved Soojin's softer voice, and I liked her personality and the vibe she brought to the group. She was well loved within the group too, especially by Shuhua. I think new IDLE fans will see it like you do since all the members are incredibly strong, but some of us who have known all 6 since debut felt really weird about her not being in the group anymore, especially since she did not deserve to be kicked out. It will take some getting used to. The five girls did absolutely amazing though on the new album and I am sure they'll continue to be successful. Thanks for reacting to them!

While around half of Koreans identify as non religious, Christianity is actually the biggest religion in South Korea. Around 30% identifies as such and there are a bunch of kpop idols that are Christian too. For example Soojin mentioned before that she identifies as Christian and has a cross tattooed on her shoulder and Twice's Dayhun comes to mind. Buddism in Korea is around 23% or something so it's actually smaller. Which is kind of interesting and not a lot of people realize this ^^
The data I've seen show those as the biggest minorities but a significantly higher percentage for non-religious. I know a few kpop idols are religious but I was referring to the vast majoroty that are not-RM for example (see his song God Rap, I think it's really good), or most of G-Idle, BP etc-using those images. I just wonder what their perception of it is. Is it just occasional fashion, sometimes a show of solidarity to the religious, do they even care or know much about how those images are used and what they mean in other contexts? Do they even choose these things? Etc. Just curious.
@@ParadigmaticReactions I wasn't sure from what you said if you knew because personally it surprised me that Christianity is so big there. It is an interesting thing to wonder about and I'm also curious to know more about how they look at it for sure ^^
@@YukiT14 Yeah I was surprised also. It's interesting. It would be interesting to know what the figures we follow think/know about these topics but I have a feeling their companies steer them away from anything deemed too potentially controversial (with exceptions like the RM example but that was yrs ago before they blew up). At least while they're with them. I mean they control who they date right lol
Glad you love it! Queendom seems to be a popular request and I plan to get to that guide at some point, though wow it's movie length lol. Also plan to do an unboxing of the new album and possibly a vlog for the tour later on 😊
Lisa, followed by Jennie. I respect Soyeon a lot, maybe the most, for the fact that she writes her own raps (though BP is doing that more) and all the other things she does creatively. I think all the members of Aespa can rap well. But yeah, I'd say Lisa then Jennie.

My simple statement about not always liking how she looks? And what I'm supposed to honestly express my opinion on everything ELSE only in front of my face?. And I'm not even sure how many times I've said how much I respect her. Can't imagine how miserable that must be getting mad because someone doesn't have the same preference as me or getting offended at every little thing.
@@ParadigmaticReactions making remarks on looks is a personal conversation bruh... Not a public video discussion .... Nothing about bias and personal preference... Besides the fact Jeon Soyeon was criticised for her looks from the time she was 16 YEARS OLD, "she's talented but not pretty enough to be an idol", "talented but not good looking enough", "talent wasted on someone who will be a background character",, those are the type of comments she dealt with as a 16 year old... Your words" sometimes she's pretty, sometimes she's not" As I said not preferrence... Common human decency would stop anyone from publicly speaking on looks. Soyeon is not my favourite korean rapper but the only female in my top 5......
@@fullyasian98 @Michael Singh I guess I see where you're coming from. I've seen the story about ppl critiquing her looks now. But it seems to me that leads to not being able to say you think someone is beautiful. It leads to fakness, actual toxicity, irrational censorship etc. So I think the key is respect and understanding and human decency. Like not being decent is attacking, slandering, calling names, intentionally harming, harrasing etc. I was just making a simple, brief statement about my own preferences which was in the context of all I did like. I was trying to be honest and respectful.

Well about the album 'I never die'
There are some backgrounds that foreigners can miss
I can't really talk about it with out mentioning them losing a member
Cus this album was released after almost a year and a half after Soojin left
The long term they had before this album wasn't their intent
The scandal made them lose most of their popularity in Korea and they also got a massive amount of haters
I can't deny that the album 'I never die' has a message to haters
'Villain dies' is a song about them realizing that they weren't the hero and were villains
Fits how Soyeon would have felt when she saw all the malicious comments that haters wrote
The song is saying that they are writing their own story where the villain laughs at the end
which will be a sad ending for some people
Soyeon spoiled about their album in a stage in a TV show called 'My Teenage Girls'
There was a line that sad "You all thought we're all gonna die. But never, I never"
I saw people talking about how (g)i-dle is doomed and they will never get their popularity back
So it's a pretty clear message that they are not going to just lose their popularity and be forgotten(Which will be same as dead for a kpop idol)
Their first track 'Tomboy' is a bit hard song to understand but feels like it's meant to be hard
Soyeon actually says "You will get this song right. You will get what I mean tomboy"
The song isn't really about them becoming a tomboy (certainly not about revenging to their X boyfriend)
If you see the MV of Tomboy you can see that the Ken doll actually has a name which is 'G'
(When Miyeon is walking with her luggage you an see a missing-leaflet on the wall with a photo of Ken and has a Big letter 'G')
So the song 'Tomboy' is about them getting rid of 'girl' in their identity, G from (G)i-dle (It's actually (Girl)i-dle a literal translation)
The Song is more like "We are not (Girl)i-dle anymore. Rather being called as a fucking tomboy"
Pretty clear from Yuqi's part "Neither man or woman. Just me I-dle"
And Soyeon drawing an X on 'Idle the queen' at the last part is not actually for the letter 'ldle the queen' but it's for the '(G)' that's written is red behind
A bit sad to see six heart balloons fly away from the car trunk
Feels like seeing (G)i-dle with Soojin, the six of them is flying away..
Anyway the album is more like "We are not going to be as how the haters expect. Don't care what you guys call us. But we are now ()i-dle"
(If you see the album cover, their name on it is '()i-dle')
Really crazy that they are actually dominating all the carts in Korea and the song Tomboy became the most likely song to be the years top song of all carts
So they did became the villain laughing at the end
Just as Soyeon said

@@ParadigmaticReactions I wasn't sure from what you said if you knew because personally it surprised me that Christianity is so big there. It is an interesting thing to wonder about and I'm also curious to know more about how they look at it for sure ^^
@@YukiT14 Yeah I was surprised also. It's interesting. It would be interesting to know what the figures we follow think/know about these topics but I have a feeling their companies steer them away from anything deemed too potentially controversial (with exceptions like the RM example but that was yrs ago before they blew up). At least while they're with them. I mean they control who they date right lol
Please check out (G)I-DLE guide new version and queendom performances. They are so talented bro.
Yeah I'm finding that out. There's a 2022 guide?
@@ParadigmaticReactions I think there's no (2022) guide yet.You can check out (2020) version by lovinsoojin or (2021) version by Adriana Sandoval.
love this! subbing, can’t wait for more (g)i-dle! I recommend their queendom performances and a guide (the one by lovinsoojin is good)
Glad you love it! Queendom seems to be a popular request and I plan to get to that guide at some point, though wow it's movie length lol. Also plan to do an unboxing of the new album and possibly a vlog for the tour later on 😊
Rise of G-Idle intro is up
What is your favorite female rapper Paradigmatic?
Lisa, followed by Jennie. I respect Soyeon a lot, maybe the most, for the fact that she writes her own raps (though BP is doing that more) and all the other things she does creatively. I think all the members of Aespa can rap well. But yeah, I'd say Lisa then Jennie.
@@ParadigmaticReactions I see. Do you also listen to K-R&B and K-HipHop? If not, you should ;). There are so many good korean arists out there.
@@beforebefore8357 Within so-called kpop I've heard everything crazy from great hip-hop to great rock so I really don't put much stock in those labels. There's plenty I haven't heard from K anything as I'm pretty new to the scene. I just know I've heard maybe the best, freshest music I've ever heard . I have listened to early "underground" records from BTS rappers. Are there any artists you have in mind?
@@ParadigmaticReactions It's up to you to discover the artists. I'll give you three:
Dean, Penomeco, BIBI.
@@beforebefore8357 so I checked out all three and sorry nothing special for me, certainly not in the same league as the groups I'm loving now. Bibi is kinda cute and they all seem like they have some artistry but not really feeling the music. I'm not big on r & b, don't see any rap there.
7:21 are you serious?? this is how channels are cancelled remember that
Umm what? Care to elaborate?
My simple statement about not always liking how she looks? And what I'm supposed to honestly express my opinion on everything ELSE only in front of my face?. What do you think at least part of a "bias" is? This suffocating, fake, witch hunt cancel mentality is a poison. You'll find respect here, not irrational nonsense.
Your words" sometimes she's pretty, sometimes she's not"
As I said not preferrence...

Queendom performances next please
Are you going to watch a guide about them? If so, I recommend this one:
