I love the respect and craft Toontrack gives the drum creators, producers, engineers, drummers, roadies, sound designers, the backstory & attention to detail.. awesome
Toontrack has always been a wonderful education….but after all these years, the fundamental historical archive of some of greatest inspirational people and studios !!! These tools will be a reference for generations to come. Bravo 👍
Downloading. I was hooked immediately. I hope it is at the level of Jazz Sessions, without a doubt the best SDX in the sense that every instrument on the kit drum, every articulation, everything of everything, no matter if it is with sticks, brushes or hands, can be heard in the mix of any song. With others SDX or libraries I always have to look for another tom from another SDX, or another hihat, etc... In Jazz Sessions everything can be heard. And it is heard not because it is at high volume or velocity. It is heard subtle, behind, accompanying any song. I don't know how they managed to achieve that. Great work in that SDX. Meanwhile I will continue to dream that one day I will wake up one morning seeing one of these: Ken Scott SDX or Jeff Lynne SDX or Alan Parsons SDX or Rick Rubin SDX...
Love d&d, hansa, fields and my fav so far...stories. This one which i download right now is my next one. Very great sounding drums ...am corious So next sd4 around the corner?^^
You have a very wide range of interest in your drum sound choices! What is your favorite part of the Stories SDX? And, does Hansa stand out among the others as much as the demos seem to sound? Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 🙂
Hey yess i love different colours support the song. Also have alot other drum vsts from mixwave...oveepriced but pretty damn good when need modeen rock drums but not much to tweak. To answer your queations I wouldnt say hansa stands among others ....but this one really has some unique snares and a very dirext sound ... Storiea stands out for me in terms of pure recording quallity also very versatile.... I love the main room the most but the iso ones are also amazing... The mentioned sdx i have are all very versatile, offer much value in terma of samples, configurations and presets for starring points. At this point it a matter of taste what you need/wanna have
@@justin1603 Thank you for your comment! I currently own Hitmaker, D&D & Legacy of Rock. I definitely agree with you. Each kit has it's own unique flavor in terms of kit, room and how it was recorded. I want to get more eventually, but what I have now suits most of my needs. Hansa is on top of my list and maybe now Stories too. : )
Incredible sounds wow! I started like a lot of studio guys using the Roland R8 as drums samples in the 90s. I finally sold it. Then I started working with EZ Drummer best move I've ever made. Toonktrack has them all beat in my opinion. I have Addictive Drums & Slate but only use the Trigger plugin Maybe Toonktrack will make a Trigger plugin?
also i think the thing that will stop these drums sounding super real is the bleed, i understand the samples would be in the millions but once you get to that level. where you hear the snare in every mic etc
There is an option to enable and disable bleed for each mic channel in the SD3 mixer tab. So yes, you do hear the snare in all of the mics if snare bleed is turned on for those mic channels!
I always enable all bleed, it just sounds more really to me. If you have the disk space, always install the full instal. This one is awesome with and without bleed.
i've done probably thousands of songs with SD at this point, and I've tried with bleed and without...... here's the thing....when mic'ing up real kits, we aim to get as little bleed as possible in each mic, and that was always the tricky part in mixing...all the bleed. so we'd either automate all the tom mics, and jump through hoops to try deal with bleed on snare and hi hat alike.... so much time often spent. I love being able to pull all that out...I mean...that's kinda the dream! if you are using your room and overheads well, then I don't think enabling bleed on the individual drum mics serves to make it sound more 'real'. just makes it harder to mix, and if that's a more 'real' experience for you, then have at it. where people have issues creating a more 'real' sound has more to do with understanding how a drummer plays, and being aware of velocities, etc.
Every time i see an old audio engineer i wonder this: every senior must have dips in the hearing spectrum (that's how we humans are programmed). How do they handle this, wich workaround do they have. Very curious. (I am65 years old). Anyone has a suggestion?
sound great any chance we can can get some real crash bang three microphones type drums, rather than everthing miced, mono over heads, real rock n roll drums that kind of thing
Why are Toontrack products so thin? They sound great but they have no body, no Umph to them. To track through big boards and good mic pre's they should be huge. This issue must be the engine its self. This needs to fix.
Definitely, dude! EZDrummer3 ist already amazing, but the SD3 and my ekit ... damn! It's so great playing drum sounds recorded by the worlds best engineers. Thank you, Toontrack! We need a Toontrack user meeting! Damn, that would be a great pleasure!
You did a great job! ❤ Thank you! God bless you for your legacy! (Keep calling the greats!)
One of the best SDXs yet (and I have them all). Superb :)
Great to hear!
Nice. What are your other favorite ones?
I can't believe how good these drums sound! Well done!
Thanks! Elliot did an amazing job on this.

I had to buy this one. It sounds incredible!
Wow I had no idea this was done at the clubhouse! I live 5 minutes away from there!
This sound is amazing ! I don't know why, but I find the sound very satisfying ! Thanks Toontrack

The Jazz Sessions is unbelievable. I’d love to see a Parsons library too, also a Steven Wilson one with Minnemann/Harrison/Blundell 🤌🏻

You can replace live drums with Superior Drummer in the software.
Is there a mic walk through for this library?
Take a look at the product page on our site! There is an overview and list of the mics used. www.toontrack.com/product/state-of-the-art-sdx/
Hi, is there a preset that sounds EXACTLY like the very first kit at the start of the video, including all the processing I mean.
Hey! There was a preset engineered and mixed to this very track. It's called "Seventies Shuffle" in the product.
Great to see a new library but when will we get the Superior Drummer 4?
3 is good enough for me! I'm looking forward to an EZ Guitar.
what tom mics are those?
Audio Technica ATM25 - actually usually used for kick drum.

Ugh. More two tom sets? Why?😢
'Cause that's what you use in the studio
Well you also use your left hand in the studio. But isn’t it nice you’ve got the right one to use as well?
Yes
while I agree, its easy to add another tom and tune it :)
