Technology is such a pain now.
Pretty cool how you used your phone or computer to post that comment on an Internet based app for videos that connects you with people around the world in the span of a split second...
boomer..? you literally just need to use your brain and you can easily stay safe. Letting your phone automatically connect to bluetooth or wifi networks is incredibly easy to disable.
@@Milk-rn5uq you don’t get it. It’s all a hassle. One more thing to worry about out of thousands if not millions.
@@Milk-rn5uqMillennial here & they are right. The Internet is cool but has become a pain. Even if you don't do anything the companies that are supposed to protect your information get hacked & they leak your info or they set up credit card skimmers that can take your info. Or they make fraudulent phone numbers to act like local police or other companies you might be associated with & call people to scam them. It's not just Bluetooth & if you have to take steps such as setting up a VPN or changing your password every week then it is definitely a pain & causes extra work. You might just be a child but when you work 50-60 hours a week it's hard to keep up with being your own cyber security.
@@lazer8776 then don't use it? Seems like a comment from an old person
Well here we are. Bluetooth is now freaking dangerous.
Apple & Samsung... it's time to get the headphone port back!
No it's been pretty much the same. Just don't pair it with strangers.
Apple still has wired headphones support, it’s now through the digital charging port.
It still has a headphone jack technically just need the adapter
@@theTrend7consumers shouldn’t have to pay extra for that

@@invisableobserver I see what you did there :)
Hackers often don't play by the rules & work around requesting permission. Also it uses up your battery to leave it on. Location tracking as well.
@@BoltRM Good point. I did turn mine off
People with smart watches need Bluetooth on all the time.
Not so smart
Everyone at the gym is on Bluetooth
Glad I don’t have such a thing.
Not if u have an lte smart watch u u don't need to have Bluetooth on lol
@@ToboeKey309 true, but you also have to pay for the plan of that LTE watch…not worth it
I hate criminals!
it was criminals that created wireless technology
USA BIGGEST ✌🏻🤣✌🏻🇺🇲
It's the criminals you should be afraid of, not the technology. In the right hands, technology is a great tool. That's including AI. It's people that need to be fixed.
Turn Bluetooth and WiFi off when you go into a big box store. Large merchants use your proximity to make modes about shopping habits. Apparently this is completely legal without consent.
Anybody can do it, for example theirs an app called Wunderfinder that uses Bluetooth and measures proximity. It’s Ofcourse perfect,t legal because that’s how it works. Stronger signal means closer proximity. Theirs nothing they are able to do to stop that anyways since it doesn’t actually access your data.
This makes so much sense. I walked into a clothing store in a mall a few years ago. I forget the name of the store. A small, but popular clothing store, at least in mall settings...
And it creeped me out that they played a My Chemical Romance (MCR) song within 5 min of me stepping foot into the store. Though I didn't have bluetooth on, I had wifi on.
That made me highly uncomfortable that one of the handful of songs I like from that band just so happened to play in the store.
Made me leave quickly. Lol. Even if the companys goal was to play a feel-good song, in hopes it sways a customer to buy their clothes.
And the reason this was creepy to me, was because usually, that song is a song played in places like Hot Topic. :/
The song didn't match the theme of the store. The store gave boho/country clothing vibes. :/
So Bluesnarfing is NOT hacking...
they use a lot more than that, doing this wont help much
between cameras, employees, people they hire to walk around and note things down etc etc, stores set themselves up very purposefully, from height of product placed to how far into the isle,to the color of items around it, food, cloths, tech, everything, stores know the average shopper better than they know themselves.
I'm sorry what?
Some people have to use Bluetooth 24/7 to pair life saving medical devices these days. It's scary & there's no way around it yet.
NO ONE is ever turning off Bluetooth 😭 We need that to listen to music and connect to certain apps 😒
iPhones are better.
@@shadynate7073 What does that have to do with anything?
Then call me NO ONE
@@shadynate7073 not enough to matter
People leaving Bluetooth on all time are dumb people.
Why would you pair your device with another device you do not know what it is??
Bluesnarfing is quite possibly the weirdest term I've even heard
isnt that when u hold ur breath when tongueing hole?
You really have to listen to the way they are wording this story. If you get a lot of pairing requests or they are trying to send you files or your phone is obsolete then yes you could get hacked. Lots of stuff left out of this story
This is bad reporting, at the end of the day, I still don't know if it's still safe if I just IGNORE all the pairing requests?!? Or how, if there is another way, do they attack my obsoleted phone thru Bluetooth??!?? 🙄 Basically ALL I'm taking away is: Just ABANDON using Bluetooth, ABANDON using OLD PHONE, go buy a new one for $1000.. 😏
Basically don't use your modern phone. Back to flip phones.
Where are the manufacturers doing? Nothing I'm sure.
flip phones had bluetooth
@@justayoutuber1906
True. But you can turn it off. No apps spying or hacked. That's all I got.
This bluetooth hacking already existed since early 2000s aka pda era..
Held out as long as I could. Had my Nokia for NINE YEARS. 😎
Manufacturers are issuing software updates to fix exploits and bugs. That’s how this works. It’s a cat and mouse game between hackers/exploiters and phone manufacturers/operating systems.
My pacemaker is connected to my phone by Bluetooth and my phone is connected to my cardiologist's office by Wi-Fi 😢
I will pray nothing will come of it but I do wonder if there are better ways for them to monitor it
Well, look at the bright side. If they zap you and you die, your cardiologist will be the first to hear, unless it redirects the signal to your bank.
While hospitals and their equipment are threat targets, the security on devices used in the hospital are generally held to a much higher standard. Nothing is ever 100%, but having worked on deploying technology for major hospitals (Mayo Clinic, etc), I don’t think you have any reason to be paranoid regarding this. just make sure you’re never pairing, or accepting a pair from an unknown device.
I was not aware now have bluetooth.
@@angelofdeath275 Yea, there's an app on my phone that communicates with the pacemaker and records everything. Then if something unusual triggers it, the app will use wi-fi to alert my cardiologist's office and send the data in.
Basic tech security, don't pair to random things lol. This isn't a real threat, jeez.
Also uses more battery so if you don't need it, turn it off.
Bluetooth is how my hearing aids connect to my phone. I can't shut it off.
Need a VPN for protection
@@zacharydavidpoornoy7820 Good idea. I've been intending to look into one of those.
@@zacharydavidpoornoy7820 VPN doesn't work for local signals, you will figure it out
Invest in better hearing aides with an audiologist…you can buy used hearing aides for a pretty good price too
@@larsonfamilyhouse "Better hearing aids"? These Phonak Audio Paradise 90P-RT are some of the best made.
Bluetooth also drains your battery more quickly if you leave it on. Wireless connection standards don't work by magic; the phone has to continually look for connection possibilities. Just turn it on when you need it & off after.
Why these criminals don't have anything better to do then hack people's device?
This is the reason why I want to learn computer programming, so I can write codes to fight back!
They are often from the countries that we helped make weak & poor
ur not gonna learn anything except to bend over backwards
You don't unless you're a nerd, coding is difficult for most people, remember nerds created coding it's built inside of them
Bluetooth is just an over the air protocol for serial communication between two devices. You can’t modify the firmware on your phone to ‘fix’ this vulnerability, unless you jailbreak the phone but that’s a whole other can of worms. As an engineer I say just leave the cybersecurity to Apple or whoever makes your device.
Then = a moment in time
Than = compared to
👍
I got bluejacked the other day and then ended up with a serious case of blueballs
😂😂😂
They say you were listening to im blue da ba dee
Basically domt accept any pairs that your not familiar with, you cant hack if you dont accept
Ppl who have smartwatches need bluetooth on at all times during the day, if not the smartwatch is basically useless
At least on the Apple side, there’s no current way to “fool” iOS into secure pairing to your iPhone. Outside of Bluetooth headphones for audio only, the Apple Watch does not accept files directly. And the watch is only paired once when setting up. From that point forward, it’s BTLE, and data is pushed securely between devices.
If someone has a Chinese knockoff like Huawei, all bets are off - that thing probably is probably already phoning home to the communist party 🫡😂
Every one uses bt headphones now. At school , library, public transportation, airplanes , gyms. I hope the manufacturers can keep ahead it always seems like a cyber security arms race.
Always keep Bluetooth off unless you are ready to connect. Some people just have it on all the time, which is crazy...
Turn off Bluetooth in public?? How am I supposed to use my AirPods and avoid interaction with strangers???
avoid garbage fron Crapple
you need to be fairly close to people use Bluetooth...something i rarely ever do, being near people is too tedious and obnoxious.
But A lot of folks use Bluetooth when they're listening to podcasts or music at the gym or jogging outside.
The advice to turn off bluetooth means that TILE trackers would be disabled. Is it riskier to have bluetooth on or to lose your wallet and other items protected by TILE trackers?
I 200% agree about getting new software, cellphones as always!! More people should be doing that!!
so their solution is to turn off bluetooth in the places where you actually need to USE bluetooth?
🤣, and dump your phone after every 3 years when updates stop, and buy a new one for $1000+ ! 🤣 Smart marketing thru media! 🤣
Bluetooth works “find my iphone”
Very serious crimes, lets proceed to name them the most hilarious things ever xD
I never have blue tooth on. Unless I am home. And rarely use it.
Is that why I can plug in brand new headphones in a new phone and it shows a different pair of headsets?
Great info! I have a new phone, all updates. Bluetooth connecting to my watch? Pennsylvania
That’s it!!! I’m going back to rotary phones. 📞
😂. Good luck finding one that will work on today’s system.
Im definitely no bluetooth professional, but im pretty sure nothing can connect to your bluetooth on your phone without you going into your settings and clicking on Pair, so this should not be a problem. But correct me if I'm wrong.
I dunno these hackers are good. I think one way is to fake like they are a trusted paired device and when ur phone connects to their device it can exploit ur phone. I think paired devices have “keys”with our phones to prove it’s paired but hackers have found a way to extract this key.
There might be settings to auto pair. That should definitely be turned off.
@@NinjaRunningWildI think you have to pair once manually before you can auto-pair.
SMH just don’t keep anything important on your phone, don’t know to tell ya nothing connected wirelessly is safe anymore
I always kept bluetooth off when not in use anyways, saves battery and less radiation.
That totally sucks when you use it in your car now I'm sort of scared.
I never use Bluetooth, but my phone always turns it back on, so I am constantly having to turn it off, along with location. It won't keep WIFI off either. WIFI is nice depending on where you are, but having it turn on and change networks away from your normal data sometimes becomes a problem, especially if you are uploading or downloading something.
It's in the settings, find it in the Help function
My SIRI always gets turned on….I had to switch languages to make sure I didn’t trigger it.
You may have an app that you gave permission to turn those features on.
My MacBook constantly turns it back on. Thankfully my phone leaves it off.
If you do it from settings (not swipe up) it will stay off
So where does that leave cars & appliances (eg refrigerators/washers/etc) where blue tooth can’t be shut off? 😂
Not what I thought of by “ bluejacking”
👍🏼👊🏼🦖🍺
I have a Bluetooth CGM and insulin pump, what the heck am I supposed to do now 😂
this is not a android or apple problem its a bluetooth problem. ppl been stealing cars n internet with the bluetooth on cars for years.
Nope. Bluetooth is car gets you acces to the infotainment system. So contacts, some sms, last calls, played music etc maybe. Unlocking and starting a car is with other kind of radio frequency and devices...
Thank you
Telling phone users to use bluetooth sparingly is like telling car owners to hardly use gas in their car. Bluetooth runs everything . It isn't safe to use cell phones against your head, so we use bluetooth. Maybe it's up to companies to secure bluetooth before the tech is no longer usable.
"When Bluetooth is turned on, it can communicate with other nearby devices" says my updated Android. What exactly does that mean?
It means just that, smart watch, car, hearing aid, medical device, laptop...
Bluejacking?...I believe this is how David Carradine passed away.
Bluetooth is needed for the s-pen. 😢
I’m going to just bring my rotary phone to the mall with a really really long phone cord
No problem for me had both my Bluetooth removed years ago.
What about if you have a smart watch? on you while you have your phone?
Honestly you should be fine, if you’re outside in a crowd & then you notice a spam of alerts, then I would say to turn off Bluetooth, but for the most part you should be fine.
People need to understand that wires are still king.
I knew the technology is not safe after technology was created.
Thank you for this video. I've told people for years who are not tech savvy to turn off their Bluetooth.
Bluetooth is now a vital tech
Saw this coming. May be a solution to this in a setting.
What about my wireless apple carplay and android auto 😭 its so crazy thay no one really asked phone companies to get rid of headphone jacks now here we are having to use blutooth constantly to listen to music smh
It's simple. You don't accept a Bluetooth pairing unless you're trying to pair to a device😂
Nice news article
Yes. My neighbors were using my laptop- who are Turkish/Russian- and using my hotspot or my WiFi. Criminal as fuck.
Old news. Always be sure to have Bluetooth and wifi off when not in use. Also download a Bluetooth firewall (yep there is such a thing).

This is the Watch Dogs era
So glad I refuse to own or carry a cell phone.
Can smoke signals be hacked ?
It'd be nice if Android or iOS would add a separate on-device PIN confirmation before connecting a new bluetooth device or request to share a file ... The push notification aren't informative enough in my opinion for how to reject or block an attempted connection
Didn’t realize this was “sponsored” by NordVPN 😂

I don't have to worry much, I never use bluetooth and because of crap firmware I shut off wifi when leaving home.
I have an Apple Watch, it connects through Bluetooth. But if someone tries to connect with me, my phone asked me to authorize the connection. Just say no. Just think what AI is going to cause. These people don’t think about this stuff before they create.
They are listening to me now,,,I know who they are..They are cowards
I rarely use Bluetooth, virtually everything I use is wired or works with a USB dongle. I don't use Magic Mice, Magic Keyboards, Airpods or any of that crap. My phone is a budget phone and my MacBook is an older one that still has regular USB.
I never lave my bluetooth on, or to connect automated. 99% is off because of this reason, also be careful when you update your ios Apple for some reason activated the bluetooth, and most people are never aware.
Good thing my bluetooth is broken
With technology, you get more headache the smarter they are.
I prefer the old simple phone, lot less expensive, plans are many times cheaper and you don't have to deal with crooks and people who don't behave.
With that kind of ability and smarts.

😐 *Yeah. It's the same if you have your wifi on all the time also. 🤦♂️ God..., it's 2024.
