Excellent, as all your highly impactful/beneficial videos, books !
As you make clear, it is striking that uptake of this vaccine is not much greater, given the potential consequences of Shingles including PHN (Post herpetic neuralgia).
Thanks so much for your commitment to educating and providing the public pathways to healthy living/aging !
    P.S.:
Our Team participated in the development of both the Zostavax (1st generation vaccine) as well as Shingrix (current & most efficacious) shingles vaccines over a 9 year + period, at an estimated cost of >$1.1 B (to add perspective to the high cost/vaccination series---most of which is now covered by insurance).

Thank you for encouraging people to get the shingles vaccine, Dr. Greger! My dad didn't have the vaccine and got shingles, and the rash spread to his face! You have to weigh the risk of potential harm caused by shingles against the potential harm caused by the vaccine, such as Guillain-Barré syndrome. That's a serious and life altering condition in which the immune system attacks nerve tissue. It's awful.

My mother got Bell’s palsy from the vaccine. She was encouraged to get it by her doctor and she was very healthy - straight after she had the vaccine she got Bell’s palsy and her face/eye never fully recovered. I think more should be researched into the side effects.

    • @peterjsmith5918
      @peterjsmith5918 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Like almost every MD's, Dr. Greger will downplay any vaccine side effects and certainly won't explain how to recover. Those with Bell's palsy should immediately start supplementing L-Lysine, Oregano Oil, MSM, B vitamins (B6,B9,B12), and Niacin, They should also consume foods with the highest Lysine/Arginine ratio. The root cause of Bell's palsy is very similar to shingles, so this works for either (or any other virus that inflames cranial nerves). Those with long-term palsy damage can gradually improve over the course of years with anti-inflammatory foods and herbs that promote nerve regeneration.

I got that (Bell's) when there was a Cold Snap during winter, Recovered months later.
      She Never Recovered, that's rough.
Scarring from the Immune Response prevented the nerves from growing back hence Steroids very very early on should be administered

Fortunately, if you don't get this new vaccine or get it too late, there are Valacyclovir and acyclovir antivirals extremely effective on shingles along with all Herpe related viruses which include cold sores.
Cheap pills (and come in cream form), antiviral usually prescription in most countries, but over the counter acyclovir are available in Germany since the 1990's dosing for cold sores. Stronger dose still needs to be filled as a Rx in Germany.
Anyway, very effective with small side effects. And you only take the pills for a short period of time.
So you're covered many ways on shingles.

They used to say no, but they've changed the guidelines. Even if you haven't had chicken pox per say you could have been exposed to it and had very mild without realizing and still develope antibodies which would mean you still have a chance of developing shingles. Shingles is something you do not want, very painful from what I hear from my patients who have had it.

Curious if you son was prescribed valacyclovir or acyclovir... valacyclovir original screw the public for all them money they have brand is Valtrex, is considered more effective in the states because the brand says so, but either are just as effective. The acyclovir can be more effective in that it is the active metabolized ingredient that is effect even immediately in cream forms, Valtrex version just allows it to be metabolized from pill into the blood stream more effectively.
Did they take either of those two antivrials?
Curious if they did how effective it was for them?
Typically it's extremely effective. Is for me on cold sores and was for my mom who had a serious outbreak of shingles that nearly got into her eye. Cleared it up very quick, within a week.

Had shingles when I was 32 and everybody said I was too young but that didn't seem to make a difference to the shingles. Again when I was 46, knew exactly what it was and didn't even go to the doc. Feeling for those folks with it on the face, yikes, mine was around half the trunk. Since then went whole plant food exclusive, no salt, oil, or sugar, high raw vegan loading in the fresh fruits and vegetables, getting in a pitcher of green smoothie every day with flax and chia & been doing this about five years now. Not saying the shingles aren't going to show up and slap me buuut probably less likely. I'm healthier now than as a teenager and bouncing with energy so at least if it does show up again maybe it won't take me down quite as badly 🥦❤

The pain was so bad I had days I could not sit down, but having to drive to work made that something I couldn't avoid (there were lots of tears). When my doctor's office called me to let me know they had gotten a shipment and said they only had enough for 5 patients and I needed to get there soon, I was so thrilled I went the next day and got my first shot and later went back for the second shot when it was due. This one is new. And consider yourself a ginny pig on such new things. So far looks effective enough.
Personally though, for this one, it is somewhat unnecessary and sort of contradicts why people frequently get shingles at an elderly age, you immunity gets weak, and vaccines require decent immune response to work.
Second and as importantly, so long as you get the antiviral medicines once you're diagnosed, you're good to go. Clears the stuff up very quick.

Dr, Greger is controlled opposition, leading people astray who were trying to get healthy from diet and lifestyle.
You're missing the most important question. What are the ingredients of the placebo? That's how they've fraudulantly tested vaccines for 45 years, and that's why you shouldn't blindly trust a shill doctor who continuously glorifiies such testing as "the test".

Shingles and chicken pox are different viruses. No studies have proven them to be the same. They have discovered that viruses reactivate but not one causing the other. Thus, the naming of shingles vaccine, not reactivated chicken pox (rcp) vaccine.

What about oible blind placebo studies comparison of these drugs and all cause mortality rate of people who run put amd get shots verses those who don't get drugs and prevent disease by diet. I wish you would stick to food, where your data is analyzed for gold standard and who funds them. You are showing your typical non- analytic follow the crowd side when you don't tear about data. The entire reason one gets shingles though is often your immune system is compromised. Or simply loses the immunity to "chicken pox" the initial outbreak form of the virus.
Vaccines rely on your immune system to respond. If you have a good immune system, you should be immune to it now due actually having an outbreak. Antivirals pills are available that clear shingles up very quick too.
