Okay, okay.. I'm sorry about the clickbait! No matter if you call this the Routolotine, an arm in RNC, reverse Ezekiel or a reverse kata gatame; allow us to break it down for you! We will look at some setups, control- and finishing mechanics for this awesome submission. Osú!
Chapters 0:00 - introduction 0:53 - back control setup 2:29 - dealing with the arm 3:47 - turtle entry 4:57 - rear body lock 5:30 - slide by and arm triangle 7:02 - wrap up
This move is great. The arm triangle choke can work from behind as well as the front like the Cobra Clutch aka Million Dollar Dream can work at the front as well as behind.
This is just the no gi arm-in Ezekiel popularized by Ryan Hall and used by Braulio Estima to submit Marcelo Garcia at ADCC 2009. You could see it as an inverted brabo choke (since the arms are switched), but really it is a standard arm triangle/kata gatame that has been rotated slightly to choke with the blade of the wrist - the same way an ankle sankaku is a rotated standard triangle. The "real" arm-in RNC has the lock at the armpit rather than at the neck, i.e. like an anaconda choke rather than a brabo choke: th-cam.com/video/L_Y_KcHs6r0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-Vi2MpEMrvHhuNBl
Clearly a darce from the back or a rear darce. I have never tried it or seen any pro try it... Looks like a transition to arm bar too. I wonder if it is a high percentage choke. Gonna have to try it out.
@@grindordie3336 never seen a pro try it? Did you watch the intro of this video? 😅 it’s literally called Ruotolotine here referring to two pro matches but check the intro! Osú good luck let me know how it goes and focus on that lat retraction! 👊🏼
@@EnergiaMartialArts Yes, I am a white belt and maybe 20 hours of BJJ watched online... minus MMA. Maybe 1000 hours of MMA & yes I have NEVER seen a darce for back control EVER... But that doesn't mean that its not a good technique. Great content from what I have seen.

@@trueinsider513 I agree! That’s why in the first few minutes we go over some other names and how Braulio hit this on Garcia in 2009. What do you think should be the appropriate name?
@@Zilla131 okay fair enough but my question would be how would I coach my athletes when I say “go for that reverse back darce? Or arm in rnc”? That’s a lot of words and very open for misinterpretation right? Ruotolotine is one word and not that confusing. I’m not saying it’s what I’m going with either but I just love to ponder on these things and see what others think.
@@EnergiaMartialArts Naming this after someone who didn't invent it is ridiculous. I have a legitimate question, do you think the routolos are natural? They claim they're natty but they literally never get tired and go 100mph for their entire matches, and can match craig jones (admitted trt use), felipe pena and mica galvao's strength (caught with PEDs and are known to be extremely strong and durable) despite being lighter, scrawny and having no contractile muscle tissue whatsoever. Everything about the routolos screams EPO, this is why bjj will never be a mainstream sport like mma, it's a really dirty sport. the fact that they train out of andra galvao's gym is hilarious too because everyone that competes from that gym juices but somehow they're the only ones who claim natty but are winning ADCC lol. Every ADCC winner has juiced from rafa mendes, cobrinha, rousimar palharis, marcelo garcia, andre galvao, gordon ryan, roger gracie, brualio estima, buchecha etc etc.

@EnergiaMartialArts idk, if I'm coaching and you're competing and already have the back, what's quicker for me to say 1.Darce or 2. Whatever else someone calls it.
@@chadmcmahon1981 wait you didn’t say darce, you said ‘head and arm from the back’ right? Also the darce is complete different move. Second, Ruotolotine is one quick word right?
