The EPLF encouraged cultural work from 1975 onwards, in the form of a full-time central cultural troupe and innumerable smaller amateur ones in military units and non-combatant departments. These groups usually produced variety shows dominated by music, song and dance representing all Eritrean nationalities, as well as educational and political sketches. Stage drama became more prominent when a Section of Literature and Drama was introduced in 1981 as part of the Division of Culture in the Department of Political Orientation, Education and Culture. Women performers became increasingly prominent like Abrehet Ankere(gual ankere), Liya Goitom, Birikti Weldeslase (Tanki), Zeyneb Beshir, Senait Debesay.
The performing arts in the EPLF featured mainly songs, posters, music, drama, and dance-related to all nationalities of the country. The Cultural Department of the EPLF was engaged in several artistic works, a great many of which reflected revolutionary themes. Drama performances included short and long tragedies, short comedies and comic sketches. Wedi Tikul, Fihira, Isseyas Asfaha, Tefeno, Birged.

I remember this song, when the eplf fighters used to come to perform in Sudan, on the stage with their kaloshinekov AKA AK47 rifles. wow, me i was only a 5 yr old little boy, watching it lol. My uncle from mother's side was a hero freedom fighter, and was KIA (killed in action) also my dad's side, but I don't know my dad's side to much as my mother side. As I was raised by my mother, so I only know my mother side more than father. That being said, is why I need go see my father to get know him and my father side back to my Homeland! Whoa can not wait too...

Love Our rich Tigrigna culture. It is based on loyalty, honor, dignity, fealty to their land and lord hence their long and rich history. EPLF cadres tapped into that to produce these effective propaganda tools to pull Eritrean Tigrigna youth to fight but after independence they destroyed it from the core and took our land and with it our culture and strong sense of belonging which is rooted in our ancestral village and history. It won't die out though, we are still here and present and we will rise one day!
