Hello everyone! There are a lot of new viewers who are watching this nest and have questions on the patagial wing tags we see on some of the eagles. I recommend watching this video to learn about why the eagles have patagial tags also known as wing bling & to understand the importance of the conservation work that was done for many years in order to save the bald eagles from extirpation in the Channel Islands! I have peeped in on this nest off and on, but now with two chicks and another one on the way, I am fascinated and will continue to follow. Of all the nests I've watched over the years, this is the first time I've seen two chicks bonking, each giving as good as it gets and neither really backing down. I think this is a little bit easier to watch, actually. I do hope the third egg hatches, but that chick will most likely have a hard time. Thanks, Lady Hawk, for the detailed description of this video. I always read the descriptions and from them have learned so much from you. 🦅💙🦅💙🦅💙🦅

So adorable! This was a pretty even match. Neither one is backing down. I see two and soon to be three adorable siblings all cuddled together. Love your fun and informative narrative! Thank you, Lady Hawk!
I want to thank you dear Lady Hawk for your descriptions. You have taught us so much about the these majestic Bald Eagles! When I read your message, it reminds me of things I had forgotten. I always wonder if behaviors are taught or instinctual. Thank you for all the time, love and effort you put into each of your incredible videos! Take care Lady Hawk🌷💞💜💙
Thank you Lady Hawke for cautioning viewers to avoid anthropomorphizing the eaglets’ behavior. It’s tempting to compare the parent and child eagles’ behaviors with our own but as they used to say in old movies, “any resemblance between humans and eagles is purely coincidental.” If anything, we are more like eagles, considering eagles have a few million years of evolution on us. The eaglets’ behaviors are simple what they are, as you said.
Thank you Lady Hawk for this detailed video. I have learned alot about the sibling rivalry. Dad has his talons full trying to feed them! Also alot of patience! 😍🐥🦅🐟
And all Akecheta wanted to do after feeding WE1 & WE2 was to incubate the 3rd egg. Someone in the chat during that time had spoken about watching Akecheta fly around her neighborhood when he was a juvie (about 6-7 years ago), during the time conservationists were working to restore the bald eagles' presence in the Channel Islands.
Very interesting that they fought all day long… and preferred it to feeding?? 😂😂 I have no words.. never heard of such.. always something new to observe with each season. I think I prefer Eagle 101 over all this advanced eagling I’ve encountered over the past two seasons… 😂😂😂
10:18 😂 Ok go to your corners and WAIT for the bell! Remember the rules for bonking: Keep it clean, no bonking below the belt, and remember you must take your breaks. The goal here is strong, healthy siblings willing to take turns at mealtime! Best of luck to this awesome family 🦅🦅🐥🐥🐥🥰
Lady Hawk, thank for such a detailed explanation of “Bonking”, we with our SWFL. Eagles we thought it was learning to balance themselves. Love these guys, thank you…..
TY for this clip LH! While I've learned to tolerate bonking ... at this stage when the eaglets can barely hold theirs heads up .. .I find it quite amusing to watch. These 2 should be evenly matched given they are just 1 day apart...number 3 will have a tough go for a bit .. .
Thank You Lady Hawk. Be prepared all. One of these two is apt to pass if this continues. They are wild animals free of emotion and feelings. It is survival of the fittest.
Both of these babies will live to fledge as will #3. I watch over 30 nests every season (Osprey, Hawks, Storks, Falcons) and VERY rarely does bonking lead to a death and only happens if the chick being bonked doesn't fight for its share of food. It happens more in Osprey nests than Eagles. So continue to watch these 3 babies thrive!
This is a wild nest. With wild eaglets. Yes. They do bonk their siblings. Yes. They can become friends as they get older. Reality is that sometimes they don't become friends because one eaglet will be extra aggressive and kill the sibling. Went past "I don't want you to have my food". And all the way to "I don't want you to exist". Eagles are smart. A strong survival instinct is in effect long before they are able to become friends. That survival instinct means they stop the competition any way they can. Including killing. They are wild animals. Completely free to exist without restrictive human morals and laws. Free to live, thrive, and kill prey and competition to survive. Keeping it real. The eaglets also become aggressive towards their parents (the food providers) as they get older.
Finally a realist! I commented on a nest a while back the same way and a lady became offended and reported me. People just keep making trying to humanize these eagles and it is like creating a lie. The, they get all sad. That is not a good way to teach about wild animals to the children watching.
It is ridiculous how some chat rooms are filled with people who cant take any negativity, no matter how true it is. Everybody yelling at you. That's why I very rarely comment in a chat room. It's very "cliquey". It's nuts! They don't want the eaglets to be given names but the parents ALL have names. What harm does it do to name the babies? Some nests have naming contests. It's fun! I pick names for all the babies. I just don't tell anyone in the comments because I know some of them will lose their minds. 🤣@@Suns41
