The Ellerbrock wiring was developed by Werther Ellerbrock, a renown guitar and electronics repairman that runs Ellerbrock Electronics in Jalisco, Mexico.
In this video I'll show you how this One of A kind wiring works:
Essentially you have a standard 3 pickup guitar with a 5 way switch, a master volume and a treble cut knob, wich is your regular guitar tone. This is the standard setting.
An extra switch combined with a bi-purpose knob will let you select 2 extra modes: Bass Cut Mode and 7 Way Mode.
In the Bass Cut Mode, the bi-purpose knob will funtion as a bass cut, and along with the treble cut they will work as a 2 band passive EQ, allowing you to create your own unique tone setting
In the 7 way mode, you get the standard 5 way pickup selection plus neck and bridge together and all 3 pickups together. This is done with the bi-purpose knob that becomes a blender, select the neck pickup and you can dial in the bridge pickup and the opposite is true as well or you can select the neck and middle position or bridge and middle position and dial in the remaining pickup, having all 3 pickups working together
in both modes, the bi-purpose knob can be bypasssed by either a fully clockwise or counter clockwise rotation, depending on the selected mode, leaving you with standard setting.
