I’m a Protestant, yet I understand why she is the “Mother of God.”
    - Mary is the mother of Jesus.
    -Jesus is God (incarnate)
    - Therefore, Mary is the mother of God.
This issue was dealt with at the Council of Ephesus in AD 431 to refute Nestorius, who taught that Mary was the “Mother of Christ” but not the “Mother of God.”
It may seem like semantics, but this has more to do with Christology than Mary. To claim that Jesus was simply the “Christ” would then line up with Jehovah’s Witness theology, which teaches that Jesus was just human, but not God. But to call her the “Mother of God” would clarify the declaration at Nicaea (AD 325), that Jesus was God.
    People gotta do their homework

Jesus is God who took flesh and in flesh was called Jesus and God dear brother doesn't have a mother, The problem with people is that they don;t think in Biblical therms but apply to it the worldly stuff. When apostles tells him that his mother and his brothers came to see him he replied that his mother and his brothers are those who fulfill the will of God and it clearly proves that God doesn't think in earthly terms and Mary is the mother of the body God lived in but she is no mother of Him because what you are isn't your body but soul. Your body is a vessel or as the scripture says a tent in which you live, nothing more.

I will NEVER understand the need to tear down another religion that is clearly of God to make ourselves look smart or the best or the most learned. First, the Catholic Church does not teach that "you don't want to go to Jesus, you want to go to Mary." Either John MacArthur is ignorant of what the Catholic Church teaches, or he is flat out lying about what the Catholic Church teaches and he needs to repent. He is utterly deceptive in this video.
Jesus did not rebuke or respond by saying "none of your business." To suggest that Jesus would treat his mother in such a manner is to suggest that Jesus would violate one of the 10 commandments and dishonor his mother. Again, John MacArthur is deceptive and preying on people with such a statement.
The wedding at Cana is NOT where the Catholic Church finds its teaching on Mary. The wedding at Cana certainly depicts Mary interceding on behalf of the wedding party, but to suggest is it where the teaching on Mary comes from is very naïve and deceptive.
John McArthur can't be that ignorant, or is it deception? ...Protestant and Catholic Biblical scholars have long identified Mary as the "woman" in Genesis 3:15 were God tells the devil that he will put enmity between you (the devil) and the "woman" (Mary) and between your offspring and her offspring; he (Jesus) shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. This is in fact the first gospel. Mary is the woman whose son will bruise (defeat) the devil. The wedding at Cana is Jesus' first public miracle as he commences his public ministry and refers to Mary as "woman," alluding to Genesis 3:15, as Jesus knew he would go onto fulfill Genesis 3:15 and defeat satan, so it is fitting that he would allude to Genesis 3:15 when he started his public ministry with the mission of defeating satan to redeem us all. Again, once he has defeated satan, he refers to Mary as "woman," has he has fulfilled Genesis 3:15. It is not a term of dishonor has John MacArthur would have you believe (violating the 5th commandment), it is a term of endearment and in fulfillment of God's will.
Jesus never said, "I don't do my mothers business." To suggest such a thing is an argument from silence and a logical fallacy. To suggest that after Jesus was found in the temple at age 12 that he never did his mother's business is blasphemy, and yes, a logical fallacy.
Mary is a created human. However, she is the mother of Jesus (God the son).
John MacArthur is clearly suggesting that Jesus violated the 5th commandment.
All family relationships are over? John MacArthur has lost all credibility...

The honoring of Mary as the Mother of God can be traced back to the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD. So not only the early Christians but to this very day the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox, Ethiopian, Armenian, Catholic, Anglican and Lutheran churches all believe that Mary was the mother of God.

Mary, herself needed salvation. Jesus said, “ Before Abraham was, I AM. Mary is earthly, human, and has a beginning. Jesus, the second person of the Trinity has no beginning because he is God. ( second person of the Trinity) Jesus has existed with God from eternities past. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, except Mary. No! All have sinned period! All men/women need Salvation including Mary. Mary needed Salvation like all humanity needs Salvation. To pray to Mary is blasphemy. We can boldly approach the throne of grace. Praying to Mary is not biblical but a tradition of the Catholic fathers. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for their traditions. Jesus would rebuke catholic traditions.

I am Orthodox, not Catholic, and as such would agree with Pastor MacArthur on several points against Roman Catholic teaching on and devotion to Mary. But, there are so many inaccuracies here. Pastor MacArthur has a great rhetorical gift, but he shows that he doesn't understand a few things. "Woman" he makes into "M'am", but it's more equivalent to "Dear Lady". Christ's use of the term at the cross supposedly means that Jesus is saying "I don't have anything to do with you anymore"? That's simply crazy talk. Any reader can clearly see that our Lord, in the moment of his own trial, is looking after his mother to ensure her well-being in the world. And by the way, this giving of Mary to the apostle John is a strong evidence that Jesus's so-called "brothers" in the New Testament were his half-brothers, those children of Joseph from his first wife. Otherwise, Mary would not have needed to have been taken care of by someone other than one of her own sons.
The phrase "what does this have to do with you and me" is not speaking about a division between our Lord and his mother, but rather is showing a unity between them (you and me, together). How MacArthur gets from point A to point Z is a truly circuitous route. The clearest way is from point A to point B, but he's seems to want so badly to prove something that he ignores the obvious. MacArthur is way too eager here, and in many other points in the video, to dismiss Mary. I'd like to do a full review, but the ending of the passage will suffice. Christ *honors* his mother's request. Let that sink in. All this talk about how Jesus is dismissing Mary, doesn't want to have anything to do with her, separates himself from her, puts her in her place and so forth, all this talk misses the end of the account. This huge point is totally lost with MacArthur. Christ *honored* her request.

Mary is the first believer of Jesus not only the Mother of the Lord God (LUKE 1:43) but Mary is acts as a mother and the guardian of the young adolescent Jesus. 2ND Jesus means GOD SAVES or GOD THE SAVIOR in Hebrew, that is why Mary is the mother of GOD THE SAVIOR. He is also called "IMMANUEL" in the Book of Isaiah 7:14 meaning GOD WITH US in Hebrew, this is why Mary is the true mother of God ! God chose to have a mother in the bubble of space and time (earth), God humbled himself to the world, men and angels. PHIL 2:6-8 ; HEB 2:9

LUKE 1:43 [ And whence is this to me, that THE MOTHER OF MY LORD should come to me? ]
The Lord Jesus Christ has a mother and He is God, so the Lord God Jesus Christ has a mother. When the Lord Jesus Christ was born by Mary, He is no longer simply Jesus as God, but rather, He became Jesus as God who became Man (JOHN 1:14) or Jesus as God who was manifested in the flesh (1 TIMOTHY 3:16).
Jesus as God who became Man or Jesus as God who was manifested in the flesh has to have a mother, for otherwise, how will Jesus as God become Man or manifest in the flesh if He has no mother?
And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: and she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among WOMEN, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the MOTHER OF MY LORD should come to me? (LUKE 1:41-43)
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. (1 CORINTHIANS 12:3-5)
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (DEUTERONOMY 6:4-5)
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. (1 CORINTHIANS 8:6 )

To figure out exactly what position Mary will hold in heaven is not going to be Mother goddess of heaven. Queen of heaven.
She simply was a vessel God used to bare the coming prophesied Messiah. She will hold no higher status? And yet because of these types of discussions, people often get confused on should we or should we not worship at the Fatima shrines of Mary and baby angels.

@@thomassandoval8025 First, the Catholic Church does not teach that "you don't want to go to Jesus, you want to go to Mary." Either John MacArthur is ignorant of what the Catholic Church teaches, or he is flat out lying about what the Catholic Church teaches and he needs to repent.

@@seanburlile6616 if Mary is the "woman" from Gen 3:15 then how could Mary be without sin? The woman was decieved and ate the fruit first in violation of Gods commandment.
However, this actually makes sense when you consider Mary gave a burnt offering and a sin offering after Jesus' birth. But why would she need to give a sin offering if she was sinless?
If you are saying she is the "woman" from Genesis then you are saying she is a sinner. By extension you are saying pope pius IX is wrong, which you cant do without being named anathema to the RCC. You'd be right though because "all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory." No exception there for any man or woman.
I dont believe Jesus was violating the commandment to honor your mother when on separate occasions he declared people who believe in Gods Word are his mother and brothers. Or when the woman said blessed is the womb that bore you and Jesus said "rather, blessed are those that hear the word of God and obey." These passages dont seem to support the co-mediatrix dogma of the RCC.

Prayers to the saints is biblical
Revelation 5:8, where John depicts the saints in heaven offering our prayers to God under the form of “golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” But if the saints in heaven are offering our prayers to God, then they must be aware of our prayers.
the saints would be aware of our prayers even when they are not directed to them!
The intercession of fellow Christians-which is what the saints in heaven are-also clearly does not interfere with Christ’s unique mediatorship because in the four verses immediately preceding 1 Timothy 2:5, Paul says that Christians should intercede: “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. This is good, and pleasing to God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim. 2:1-4). Clearly, then, intercessory prayers offered by Christians on behalf of others is something “good and pleasing to God,” not something infringing on Christ’s role as mediator.
God answers in particular the prayers of the righteous. James declares: “The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects. Elijah was a man of like nature with ourselves and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit” (Jas. 5:16-18). Yet those Christians in heaven are more righteous, since they have been made perfect to stand in God’s presence (Heb. 12:22-23), than anyone on earth, meaning their prayers would be even more efficacious.
Not only do those in heaven pray with us, they also pray for us. In the book of Revelation, we read: “[An] angel came and stood at the altar [in heaven] with a golden censer; and he was given much incense to mingle with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar before the throne; and the smoke of the incense rose with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God” (Rev. 8:3-4).
And those in heaven who offer to God our prayers aren’t just angels, but humans as well. John sees that “the twenty-four elders [the leaders of the people of God in heaven] fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints” (Rev. 5:8). The simple fact is, as this passage shows: The saints in heaven offer to God the prayers of the saints on earth.

There’s no need to try to justify this with evidence from The Bible.
The Church was given authority by Christ to make divine law.

This is a power that Christs Church has and no Protestant church can claim it.

Jesus calls Mary woman because she is the new eve, who was also called woman exclusively until her name was changed after the fall.
Interesting how Adam and the woman are the first married couple before the fall. The new Adam and the new woman are at a wedding where only they are named (not the bride and the groom).
On the cross at the redemption Mary's name is changed by the new Adam, like the original by the old, but instead of Eve (mother of all of the living) she is called mother. The new mother of all the living in Christ. JMac showing a sincere lack of understanding, perhaps he should submit to the church fathers.

(John 2:1-11) In this passage Jesus is calling Mary ”women” which is a refrence to Eve being called ”women” in gen 2:22.
Another hint of her not actually rebuking Mary is that he did listen to his mother. She told him about the problem, Jesus listened to her, and he fixed it.
When Jesus was on the cross giving Mary to the apostle John, he is literally giving her as a mother to the faithfull.
We also cannot insist that Jesus calling Mary ”women” was disrespectfull. For us hearing that sort of language used would be rude, in that time period it had most definitely not the same meaning to it.
You could also say that Jesus answering ”What have i to do with thee?” Is a sort of plea to her, saying something like ”Why now Mary?”. Reafirming that because of his and her relationship, he wants to fulfill her request but his time was not meant come yet.
Actually him just saying that ”My time has not yet come” and then STILL following her request, means that SHE actually pushed Jesus to reveal himself earlier than expected.

He was obedient to her request....even though it wasn't his time yet. So much for not being obedient to his mother. Protestants try so very hard to make this something that it is not.

Congratulations, me too. His lies are what got me to the Catholic Church. Every single time he talks about Catholics he says to go to the early Christian. Out of curiosity i wanted to see how the early Christian’s worshipped before Pagan Rome destroyed Christianity.
The first person I found was Saint Ignatius of Antioch. My jaw dropped
See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is administered either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude of the people also be; even as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. -Letter to the Smyrnaeans, Ch
Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God… They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the Flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, Flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes. -Letter to the Smyrnaeans, Ch 6
I was pretty much sold from that point on. I converted last year November 2024.
Of course Catholics and Protestants have differ interpretations of scripture, but
I just don’t see how people can follow a liar. Like this man.

What a cold, dark portrait John MacArthur paints of the relationship between Jesus and his mother. Is that the kind of attitude MacArthur has with his own mother? I’m sure it’s not. So how much more love did Jesus have for His own mother, who did God’s will?
The woman who bore the Son of God? “Blessed art thou among women” are the words of the archangel Gabriel.
Is MacArthur smarter than an archangel who stands before God? The woman was chosen by God! She was blessed among women, as the angel said, and Christ honored His mother with a holy love and reverence and care. Mary was not forcing her will on Christ. What a ridiculous perspective, and a bizarre interpretation by MacArthur, interjecting his own mean nature into it. Really John MacArthur? Are you gonna put words in the Lord’s mouth? “None of your business”? Where did Jesus say that? He takes the English translation and skews it. “Woman, what am I to do with you, my hour has not come”. In other words, the official beginning of His ministry to perform such wonders and miracles had not come yet. What is it you want me to do? He changed the water into wine, as His mother requested, and He did it out of Love!
Christ knew this story would be told for the sake of all of us. This is what he was saying to His beloved mother, and not the interpretation that joyless, stone faced John MacArthur reads into it. MacArthur’s hate for Catholics, his obsession with Catholic bashing is off the charts. Catholics do not worship Mary. We have reverence for her, we honor her, and she was given to us when Christ told John the apostle to take her into his care. “Son behold your mother, mother behold your son”. That line became scripture as it was meant for all of us, He was giving His mother to the family church. How many of us would defend the honor of our own mothers??? And know that the Lord will defend the honor of His mother too.
Christ and Christ only is our salvation.

The Holy Spirit does many things in the lives of believers. He is the believers’ Helper (John 14:26).
      Not Mary
He indwells believers and seals them until the day of redemption-this indicates that the Holy Spirit’s presence in the believer is irreversible. He guards and guarantees the salvation of the ones He indwells (Ephesians 1:13; 4:30).
      Not Mary
The Holy Spirit assists believers in prayer (Jude 1:20) and “intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27).
      Not Mary
The Holy Spirit regenerates and renews the believer (Titus 3:5). At the moment of salvation, the Spirit baptizes the believer into the Body of Christ (Romans 6:3). Believers receive the new birth by the power of the Spirit (John 3:5-8). The Spirit comforts believers with fellowship and joy as they go through a hostile world (1 Thessalonians 1:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
      Not Mary
The Spirit, in His mighty power, fills believers with “all joy and peace” as they trust the Lord, causing believers to “overflow with hope” (Romans 15:13).
Sanctification is another work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. The Spirit sets Himself against the desires of the flesh and leads the believer into righteousness (Galatians 5:16-18). The works of the flesh become less evident, and the fruit of the Spirit becomes more evident (Galatians 5:19-26). Believers are commanded to “be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18), which means they are to yield themselves to the Spirit’s full control.
The Holy Spirit is also a gift-giver. “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them” (1 Corinthians 12:4). The spiritual gifts that believers possess are given by the Holy Spirit as He determines in His wisdom (verse 11).
The Holy Spirit also does work among unbelievers. Jesus promised that He would send the Holy Spirit to “convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment” (John 16:8, ESV).
      Not Mary
The Spirit testifies of Christ (John 15:26), pointing people to the Lord.
      Not Mary
Currently, the Holy Spirit is also restraining sin and combatting “the secret power of lawlessness” in the world. This action keeps the rise of the Antichrist at bay (2 Thessalonians 2:6-10).
The Holy Spirit has one other important role, and that is to give believers wisdom by which we can understand God. “These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10-11). Since we have been given the amazing gift of God’s Spirit inside ourselves, we can comprehend the thoughts of God, as revealed in the Scripture. The Spirit helps us understand. This is wisdom from God, rather than wisdom from man. No amount of human knowledge can ever replace the Holy Spirit’s teaching (1 Corinthians 2:12-13).

Jesus had declared that He would build His church on the truth of Peter’s noble confession, He went on to say, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” ( Matthew 16:19 ). Later, addressing all the disciples, our Lord repeated the words, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” ( Matthew 18:18 ).
Jesus gave Peter “the keys of the kingdom of heaven,” not the keys to heaven.1 A key was a badge of authority ( Luke 11:52 ), and then as now was used to open doors. Peter used the keys Christ gave him to open the door to the Jews on the Day of Pentecost ( Acts 2 ), to the Samaritans after the preaching of Philip ( Acts 8:14-17 ), and to the Gentiles after the Lord had sent him a vision and an appeal from Cornelius ( Acts 10 ).
The concept of “binding and loosing” found in Matthew 16:19 and Matthew 18:18 was commonly used among the Jewish people in relation to the authority of the rabbis to forbid and permit certain practices. Jesus gave Peter and the apostles authority over both the doctrine and practices of the first-century church. Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, they would be given wisdom to know what to forbid and what to permit.
This authority, not on exactly the same level as during the apostolic era, still resides in the leaders of the local church. They may not receive the same kind of supernatural guidance as the apostles did,but they possess the entire New Testament along with the direction of the Holy Spirit. 2 Therefore, when church leaders discipline a church member who promotes incorrect doctrine or is involved in evil behavior, they act with divine approval. They are carrying out God’s will, and what they do is ratified in heaven. Since their authority is not ultimately derived from their personal qualities or their office but from Scripture and the instruction of the Holy Spirit, they should exercise it humbly and prayerfully.
Giving keys ancient Jewish tradition of kings leaving their power to someone in their absence.
      Isaiah 22:22 in Other Translations
22 And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. He shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. 22 I will give him the key to the house of David-the highest position in the royal court.
Matthew 16:17-20 is the only time that the Bible mentions keys to the kingdom. First, Jesus asked his disciples, “Whom do men say that I am?” They responded that some say he is John the Baptist. Some say he is Elias, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. Then, Jesus asked, “But whom say ye that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
From the Bible, we can tell that Jesus was pleased with Simon Peter’s answer, just as a teacher would be pleased with a student’s correct response to a question. Jesus told him:
“Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee; That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shalt be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:17-19).
Roman Catholicism teaches that Jesus established a hierarchy in the church by handing Saint Peter the keys to the kingdom. The keys symbolize papal authority and appear on the papal coat of arms. According to Catholicism, Jesus committed the power of binding and loosing to Peter. The power of the keys symbolizes authority to govern the house of God. Power to bind and loose means authority to forgive sin, pronounce doctrinal judgments, and take disciplinary action in the church.

I see your many replies. This pastor, and most non-Catholics, are not disputing the incredible beauty and faith and role of Mary, the mother of the Christ.
He is noting that Mary was never called out by Jesus or the Pauline writings or other as someone who is required to intercede or who should be engaged.
“I am the Father are one”. “Ask for anything in my name and it will be given to you”. “I will send the Counselor to you, and he will explain everything to you.”
If we have a restored intimacy with God, where is the requirement for Mary?
My personal observation is that this Mary interposition is a New Testament way to restore the old “temple curtain” of separation from a holy God.

Praying to Mary & the Saints is unbiblical!
There's a difference between asking family or friends to pray for you, (which by the way doesn't mean that those people you've asked to pray have more power or authority than you, but that if more people join in the same prayer, more petitions are heard at the throne of God) and there's a difference with speaking to dead people!
Jesus is both Mediator & Intercessor. If Jesus is sufficient for both those roles then why do we need to pray to Mary or one of the saints, who by the way, are dead and departed?
Yes, they are alive in heaven, however, there is no scriptural basis for praying to them, rather the opposite is true!
By praying To them, we are taking the attributes of God and placing them on mere humans! Only God is Omnipresent(everywhere at once), Omniscient(knowing everything at all times), Omnipotent(all powerful) & Omnibenevolent(supremely Holy & Good).
If the word of God tells us to come to Him directly, then why do we need to pray to anyone else???
Take a look at the following scriptural references:
    Romans 8:34
[34]Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes INTERCESSION for us.
    Hebrews 4:14-16
[14]Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
[15]For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
[16]Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
    Hebrews 7:23-27
[23]Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing.
[24]But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.
[25]Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
    [26]For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens;
[27]who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.
    1 Timothy 2:5
[5]For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

@@antonypelling9194 Well Matthew 1:24-25 as an argument is very bad. "but knew her not until she had given birth to a son". The whole point is that Jesus is not Joseph´s son that He was born of the Holy Spirit and if Joseph and Mary had sex or not after His birth is irrelevant to what Matthew is saying and more important: the greek word ἕως, heos "until" was used by Jews in a different way for example in 2 Samuel 6:23: " Saul’s daughter Michal was childless ἕως until the day she died". So following your bad argument Michal gave birth after she died or according to Paul in Romans 5:14 "death reigned from Adam to Moses" but after Moses the situation changed and no one died anymore. Yes, the argument you received is pretty bad. And what is more satanic than to reject the clear teaching of Jesus about salvation? Jesus rejects salvation by faith alone over and over again (Matthew 5:29-30; 6:14-15;12:37;16:27 and a very long list).

Confession why it's important to confess to a priest
    John 20:21-23
21). and he said to them again, 'Peace be with you. 'As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.'
22). After saying this he breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit.
23). If you forgive anyone's sins, they are forgiven; if you retain anyone's sins, they are retained.
The only way the apostles could either forgive or retain sins is by first hearing those sins confessed, and then making a judgment whether or not the penitent should be absolved.
    James 5:14-16
14). Any one of you who is ill should send for the elders of the church, and they must anoint the sick person with oil in the name of the Lord and pray over him.
15). The prayer of faith will save the sick person and the Lord will raise him up again; and if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.
16). So confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another to be cured; the heartfelt prayer of someone upright works very powerfully.
When it comes to one “suffering;” St. James says, “Let him pray.” “Is any cheerful? Let him sing praise.” But when it comes to sickness and personal sins, he tells his readers they must go to the “elders”-not just anyone-in order to receive this “anointing” and the forgiveness of sins.
St. James had just told us to go to the presbyter in verse 14 for healing and the forgiveness of sins. Then, verse 16 begins with the word therefore-a conjunction that would seem to connect verse 16 back to verses 14 and 15. The context seems to point to the “elder” as the one to whom we confess our sins.
    2 Corinthians 2:10
10). But if you forgive anybody, then I too forgive that person; and whatever I have forgiven, if there is anything I have forgiven, I have done it for your sake in Christ's presence,
    2 Corinthians 5:18
18). It is all God's work; he reconciled us to himself through Christ and he gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
    Matthew 16:19
19). I will give you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.'
    Matthew 18:18

Psalm 19:14, "...O Lord, *my rock and my Redeemer.* "
Psalm 89:26, "...You are my Father, *my God, the Rock my Savior.* "
Isaiah 44:8, "...You are my witness. Is there any God besides me? *No, there is no other rock; I know not one.* "
Matthew 7:24-25, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mind and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."
1 Corinthians 10:1-4, "For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, *and that rock was Christ.* "
Please take careful note the end of 1 Corinthians 10:4, "...and that rock was Christ"
According to Holy Scripture then, when Jesus says in Matthew 16:18, 'And I tell you that you are Peter, and on *this rock* I will build my church...", Jesus was referring to himself from Peter's profession in verse 16. Jesus didn't say on your rock Peter, or you are the rock Peter, no, Jesus said, "on this rock".
Now look at John 2:19-21, Jesus answered them, "Destroy *this temple,* and I will raise it in three days," The Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days? But *this temple* He had spoken of was His body.
Note the similarity; "Destroy *this temple* ", "on *this rock* ", according to the Word of God, Jesus is the Rock, not Peter.

Ohh really now...isn't that where the Catholic Church finds its doctrines that "Mary intercedes" and "Jesus never refuses His mother"?
Let's look at Mary's "intercession" at the wedding at Cana (John 2:1-10) but first then, let's see what Jesus' will was:
"For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of Him who sent me." John 6:38
"At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So He replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor." Luke 7:21-22
"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10
Gee....Mary's only concern was running out of wine, a consumable beverage people could get drunk on!!
Sure looks like Mary wasn't on the same page as Jesus.
Now let's look at some real life changing intercessions:
      - The royal official interceded for his sick son. (John 4:43-54)
      - The Centurion interceded for his paralyzed/suffering servant. (Matthew 7:5-13)
      - The men interceded for a paralytic. (Matthew 9:1-8)
      - A ruler interceded for his dead daughter. (Matthew 9:18-26)
      - A man interceded for his son who was demon possessed. (Matthew 17:14-19)
      - Some people interceded for a deaf/mute man. (Mark 7:31-37)
      - A woman interceded for her demon possessed daughter. (Mark 7:24-30)
So sean, next time you are at a wedding and they run out of wine, you be sure and let Mary know....okay!
And leave all the real life changing miracles for Jesus.
From the Bible, please list all the people Mary brought to Jesus that were sick, lame, dying, demon possessed, deaf/mute, paralyzed or needed saving....take all the time you need....I'll wait.

MacArthur really reads a lot into scripture. The term "woman" is used as a term of respect as it means that she is the woman of Genesis 3:15. It does not mean that He is distancing Himself from His mother for she is His mother for all eternity. We find this throughout Christian history to honor Mary as Jesus honored her.

@Greg You wrote: "The term "woman" is used as a term of respect as it means that she is the woman of Genesis 3:15."
"Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
They asked her, “ *Woman,* why are you crying?”
“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
He asked her, “ *Woman,* why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
      Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her." John 20:11-18
I guess then that would apply also to Mary Magdeline as the "woman of Genesis 3:15....ain't that right Greg!?!
      And speaking of Genesis 3:15...
According to the Catholic Church, Mary "crushes" Satan in Genesis 3:15:
"I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: *she shall crush thy head,* and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel." (Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible)

      Now look at Romans 16:20:
" *The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.* The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you." (Same Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible and non-Catholic Bibles)

"Since the children have flesh and blood, *He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might break the power of him who holds the power of death-that is, the devil* -" Hebrews 2:14

"The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. *The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.* " 1 John 3:8
So according to the Catholic Church who really crushes Satan: God/Jesus or Mary??
Oh....and by the way, there is no mention of Mary, nor is she anywhere to be found in Revelation 20 when Satan is finally cast into the lake of burning sulfur.....just saying!
      Good luck with that contradiction!

I asked her if she believed all the times in the Bible when God said “Come to ME”, do not worship another. Is prayer worship? How does that line up? I also asked her, if you needed a plumber, would you call his mother? It was apparent she had not read the full Bible, and insisted she had to believe the Church too, because of course they wouldn’t lie. And then I had issue with Christ’s statements about repetitive prayer and the heathens, and the rosary with its 10 to one ratio of hail Marys and Our Fathers……

My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.[a] 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. 9 When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers[b] and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

The logic of your argument is not only logically inconsistent with Biblical truth but heretical, rationally unsound and theologically incoherent.
Our Lord Jesus was never at any time done with his mother. He loved her, honoured her even as she remained both his mother and a faithful disciple to the very end. In John 19, Jesus clearly asked the Apostle John to behold his mother, and vice versa, and from that Mother, the two most faithful disciples of our Lord (Mary & John, they were faithful to the very end of our Lord's life and ministry) And Jesus understood hos Blessed Mother's role and accorded her the recognition and honour she rightfully deserves (Remember God filled her with the FULLNESS OF GRACE).
She remains the only woman who fulfilled through her obedience what the first Eve couldn't by her disobedience.
Your teaching is not only shallow and filled with bile against the Church, it also contradicts God's plan as revealed in the Scriptures. One needs not listen to you for upto a minute to clearly see your inconsistencies, and that unhidden hatred bent on attacking the Catholic Church. Well, Jesus's use of 'woman' to refer to Mary was well in order and clearly identifies Mary with the new Eve, the prophetic woman of Genesis 3 of whom God promised to put enmity between her and the devil.
