Kendrick has the highest grossing tour for a headlining rapper. He's a massive artist. Him headlining the Super Bowl isn't shocking. He has a massive worldwide fanbase that he's gained over a decade. Yes he doesn't make mainstream radio music for the most part, but he has a flawless diverse discography so it would be possible for him to form a setlist for the Super Bowl. Not saying this about Kevin or Angel, just people in general who a lot of them are Drake fans have been downplaying Kendrick's popularity acting like no one listens to him when Good Kid Maad City is still charting for more than 600 weeks.
I don’t really listen to hip hop like that and own only 3 rap albums. 2 are Jay Z albums and the other is Damn. That’s it. So it’s weird that people keep underplaying Kendrick’s reach.

Why all of a sudden is this the only year that some of yall seem to give af about the super bowl picking people who's from that area to perform, I swear some of yall be killing me bruh. Why can't we just support Kendrick Lamar and have a good time
This is a PRIME example why they don't take black people serious as a collective! Y'all in a UPROAR because Kendrick Lamar, a social conscious rapper with 17 Grammys, a Pulitzer Prize winner, who received a EMMY for his 2022 SB halftime performance was picked to headline the 2025 SB halftime show instead of a drugged out gangster rapper who doesn't even believe racism exist! Let that sink in!! This is down right embarrassing! And I will say it for the hundredth time we as black people are our own worst enemy!
It's Absolutely correct. Kendrick is still the Headliner in NOLA Superbowl 2025. Get over it because it's going to happen. Have a Wayne and friends concert ( like Kendrick and friends " pop out concert ") to honor Wayne. Why haven't NOLA did it before now.
Not a surprise that they had Usher at the Superbowl. His Vegas Residency was insanely popular and had to be extended. The NFL saw that and knew it would make money to have Usher. He had tons of songs to choose from to perform.
This ain't about catalog or who from where. Some people think Wayne is greater than Kendrick legacy wise that's down to opinion. What cannot be argued is what Kendrick Lamar turns into when he gets up on that damn stage. Kendrick Lamar is the Michael Jackson of Hip Hop when it comes to live performances noone touches him. He has a long resume of delivering breathtaking and iconic stage performances and the fact that he has the hottest rap song in the world right now and is in such high demand makes the decision EASY for Jay Z to make. He's tried and proven on the big stage and he's the hottest rapper in the world. If you're going to make it the first time any rapper has solo performed at the SuperBowl you're going to go with someone who will respresent Hip Hop well who will showcase that it is more than just rapping over a beat. Noone does it better than Kendrick.
No for real though, I remember when Kendrick was still underground and I first heard him on KCRW. But like someone said he's not promoting the stereotypical nonsense that's why folks are really mad he was chosen.
Superbowl is not obligated to give artist the headliner just because of the location... 50 performed in LA and from NYC... Em performed in LA and from Detroit, JLo performed in Miami and from NYC, Beyonce performed twice and never performed in Houston
I think it could be culture. Like the LA performance had west coast feel through one in Miami had a Latin feel etc. So maybe people are mad that there is not a new Orleans feel
No shit. But the whole point is the reason why Jayz wanted to be a part of the decision making process is to be more socially aware and to give the people what they want. His campaign as to why they should have black people part of the decision making process is, so you don't hire kendrick lamar to perform when you could have lil wayne in New Orleans, which is what the people would rather see. The point is, we thought, jay z being who he is would understand this.
As someone who lives in Europe (Belgium) I can confidently say Kendrick has been waaay more popular throughout his career than Drake has. Everyone here can name at least 5 K-dot songs but I doubt they can say the same about Drake. So looking at it from a non-US perspective, Kendrick makes a lot of sense...
What about the Marlon Wayans Club Shay Shay interview where he gave the nugget that Keenan stole the audience from the Super Bowl to go watch one of their episodes and was able to go up because Michael Jackson canceled, the next year Michael came and performed and hence the Super Bowl halftime show we now know. They're not shocked based on Kendrick's music, talent, lyricism, or accolades; They're shocked that the *NFL* gave Kendrick the headliner before they gave it to Drake, considering how long Drake has been at the top of the game numbers-wise (as Drake loves to say).
Calm down 😂. They're not downplaying his accolades or the deservedness of this. They're shocked because of the history of the Superbowl since Michael Jackson came on, not just the past 3-4 years.

Can we talk about Angel in this dress 😍 Bawdy
We gotta stop acting like KDot don’t know how to put on a show and do it in a tasteful way that don’t cross the line but that makes everybody aware of the theme he is presenting, look at his award show performances alone and you will understand that he can do it with ease, and he has the catalog for it, even if the YT’s don’t know the song shiiii WE GONE BE ALRIGHT😂and I also hate that this is the one year where everybody wanna get somebody from the city just cuz they don’t mess with KDot or Jay z🤷🏽♂️
I truly believe all of these Louisiana rappers wouldn’t have said a word or complained if Drake was selected to perform at next year’s Super Bowl in New Orleans. They are mad that ROC Nation is making it clear that they don’t like Drake and Lil Wayne.
