    I'm not looking for the day our electronics are disabled, but it this does happen, whats the use in saving the few from being disabled? No internet, banking, radio, cars, trucks, etc etc. We wouldnt be able to use it anyway. I may be missing something here, but we're all meant to return to our roots. Love what ya'll are doing 😊

    A true Faraday cage that can be seen thru is constructed using a rectangle cube made from 2 x 2 lumber lined with copper screen wire inside and outside bonded at only one point and preferably grounded. Even a hinged door can be incorporated if done properly. Made several of these over the years. Most difficult task is finding copper screen wire, but it is available.

    For a 55 gallon drum Faraday storage unit:
    1. One of the little Honda generators (drained of fuel and oil, with some spare plugs)
    2. Ecoflow/Jackery type BBS with at least 2 sets of folding/flexible panels.
    3. Linux based laptop (battery removed, with a couple of extras) times 2 at least
    4. USB drives/memory sticks with multiple copies of downloaded Wikipedia and every other prep/medical oriented website/documentation I can find.
    5. Spare ECU's for any ICE vehicles you own.
    6. CB/HAM/other radios. Handhelds but with the capability to connect to a base station type antenna.
    I would use vacuum sealed bags with desiccant packets for each of the smaller items and possibly individual Faraday bags as well. Once I was ready to seal up the cache, throw a bunch of desiccant packs in, clamp down the lid and seal the entire outside with rubberized truck bed liner.

    One of the most important problems you’ll need to overcome is communicating with people outside your property. There will be no cell service, tv, or radio. I would put a home base Cb radio and have an antenna up and radio. As for your house and solar system, you can emp proof them as well.

    Be sure to include an emergency radio with ham radio bands. Walkie talkies, the longer the range you can afford the better. Small solar panel sets for charging devices, the flexible type.

    Just a thought here. In the even of an EMP requiring this protection the communications network will be down. cell phones and internet will be gone. An armature radio (Ham), GMRS, or even a CB radio would be useful to allow communication and to gather information.

    • @MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving
      @MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving  12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving Almost all, if not all amateur radios run off of 12 volt systems. This makes them ideal for off grid or solar power supplies. A simple wire antenna can send and receive across the country. Even a simple hand held radio with a home made antenna can reach over 50 miles.

    There are devices that can protect your solar array and battery bank and charger/inverters. The "provident prepper" channel did a number of video's on them and even installed their own solar/battery system a few months ago with these devices integrated in it

Even Before We Pt the Metal Panels On The Walls Just Being Inside The Steel Structure Knocked Out Our AM/FM Radios! We Put Metal Panels On The Walls All The Way Up To The Bottom Of The Metal Roof Decking! It Was Like Aluminum Siding But It Ran Vertical Instead of The Traditional Way You Side A Home!
    Then We Went Out To The Redstone Arsenal And Worked For Colonel Jones Building A Giant EMP Proof Building!

    Who says you can’t be a follower of Jesus and be a prepper also? When you follow Jesus, you are to be prepared spiritually prior to His return! So, Why not be prepared physically, IF or when a disaster strikes? It might not always be the worst case scenario so why not have some items like food and water stored up? Natural disasters such as tornadoes, thunderstorms that take down power lines which can disrupt your life for sometimes days! I keep a 12 volt back up battery and a solar panel to recharge it and appropriate adapters for my bi-pap machine in case the power goes out, which happened to us already! I don’t sleep well without my machine! Period! If you don’t feel the need to prepare then don’t! But why criticize someone else that does feel the responsibility to do it to provide for their families safety and comfort! That’s what Gods word says to be a good steward for your family is all about! Thanks Martin and Julie for trying to be a good friend, a good neighbor by giving ideas! Prayers for you and your family!

    Great Video covering a very real threat! So it is only active electronic devices that are susceptible to EMP, specifically Field Effect Transistor based devices as opposed to Bipolar Junction Transistor based devices. Programmable Read Only Memories, Electronically Erasable Read Only Memories are very vulnerable to being erased by a really close lightning discharge as well as other forms of EMP! Interestingly enough, Thermionic Emmission Devices, such as old Valve Technology, Valve Radio Receivers, Transmitters, Amplifiers, etc. Are not affected by EMP at all! These have been making a come back of late amongst audio enthusiasts who love the "rich sound" of the harmonics that they generate! Many of the older Soviet Aircraft have Valve based avionics systems! 🙂 I am an electronics engineer, military communications system specialist!

    forget about your emp it is not going to save you a walkie talkie set might give you short range communication as well as CB radio or ham, but if one hits the power grid is off for years satellite communication is out for decades our military is also down😨I don't mean fear monger but this is a area I have great expertise I was trained by uncle sam
    if you have a faraday cage pack it smart batteries cb or walkie talkie radio a computer to store a log or inventory or has a medical surgery by the numbers program or cad program.

    • @RoniCarbine
      @RoniCarbine 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      A man made EMP is a high altitude detonation circa 200 miles up with minimal radiation, so there is no need for a bunker. That being said, an EMP attack would most likely be a prelude to ground bursts as the EMP would potentially destroy defensive capability.

    Large ammo cans also work. Older WWII-era 20MM and 40MM cans work well. Laptops, radios, drones, chargers, tablets, CPAP, medical devices, you name it. Portable. But the drum or large garbage can work as well. I used Faraday cloth and tape as well to make my own bags. A tablet with tons of micro SD cards loaded up with information on any subject of use are now nice and safe, and portable.

    I enjoy watching your shows. However, this Faraday cage show is pretty pointless. If there is a massive solar event, the resulting electrical damage will be extensive enough to render the devices you save to be useless. The off grid solar inverters and chargers will be destroyed without the faraday cage protecting that system, so no power to run things. In the event of a foreign attack with a nuclear EMP detonation, protecting these few items from the EMP will be the least of your worries. Maybe a CB radio or similar may prove to be useful if provisions for power to operate it are accounted for.
    These opinions are all mine, and will likely differ from yours, so please put forth your efforts in the ways that you choose to be best.
