“War breeds war, hate breeds hate.”-Sal Mineo. That man was way head of his time! Thanks for the full interview. The things he could of accomplished if he hadn’t had his life ripped away at such a young age. Damn handsome man he was. I’ve only seen half of Sals part on here, and was disappointed to not hear the whole thing, but now I have. Thanks a lot for the upload.
41:00 people, this was ‘69. The war officially ended and soldiers came home in June of 1975!,!,! Do you realize how long that war went on? It didn’t start in 1965. We eased into it with “advisors” in the early 60s.
Hi, I’m David I love your contact brings back so many memories. But would you happen to have any tape of the Ward Singers from this show? I remember seeing them years ago on here when I was in college in 1969. I’d love to see what you have of them! Thanks
Hey David thank you that's so good to hear, I don't know if I have The Ward Singers airing but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it for ya! Always open for suggestions #The Ret'
@@TheRetNetwork Thank you for your reply. They didn’t just make an appearance in ‘69 but they made about ten thru 1966-1972. Whatever you have from them will truly make me happy. Looking forward thanks again.
Why in God's name were the Linda Ronstadt performances cut from the show while leaving the other two musical guests intact? Anyway, if anyone is interested Linda's cut performances can be found here: th-cam.com/video/NhwczceXTxA/w-d-xo.html The next time Linda appeared on the Mike Douglas Show so did the son of the co-hosts Ozzie and Harriet...Ricky Nelson. And once again Mike obsessed over Linda's feet. lol I enjoyed her interview and appreciate the fact the co-hosts recommended they have Linda on as a guest. I am sure it was helpful for her career at that point.
Hi RobTempe, thanks for tuning in. We so wanted and attempted to leave Linda Ronstadt's performances in tack, however TH-cam flagged those songs so we had to cut them. Our sincere apologies. Enjoy The RET'
@@TheRetNetwork Thanks for the explanation. TH-cam is quite confounding because on her second Mike Douglas Show with George Carlin and Ricky Nelson the entire segments are left intact. It is a nice companion piece to your posted video: th-cam.com/video/AOnopgT_Ds0/w-d-xo.html
At one point this show was tops in the late afternoon ratings. Then Merv went to Hollywood, his show was in color, and he had the latest big names on. Mike’s show slowing died. You had to go to Philadelphia for a week if you were going to do host. They had to find guests from NY or who were visiting NY. Dina Shore started a show and it did very well. Metro media ended Mikes show, and hired a somewhat nervous and on edge John Davidson to host a show that was basically, the same as Mike had. He came off as the bad guy who took over Mikes show. In the mid and late 80s the talk shows were fashioned after Phil Donahues show. Oprah, Sally, Geraldo, Jenny Jones, oh just so many! Then, they went into exploitation with Richard Richard bay in New York, Maury, Jerry Springer etc. the talk show genre never recovered. Only in England is there one very successful show where our America celebrities travel all the way from California cross the United States across the Atlantic the London to appear on the show. It’s very sad that we don’t have real talk shows here.
Mike seems obsessed with Linda not wearing shoes. She was on the Johnny Cash tv show the same year and Johnny's wife realized Linda was not wearing panties.

Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Love seeing Ozzie and Harriet
Yeah… that’s truly a classic seeing them late in their career.
i love willie lester & tyler. i have so much respect for mike douglas. no matter what your skin color was back then, he embraced diversity
Monte sang a killer version of My Way on the Tonight Show. It took Carson by surprise.
Really!
My goodness Ronstadt is a dream come true. An original mind in a divine package. Too bad we couldn't hear her gorgeous singing voice. Sigh...
Thanks for sharing Jim, unfortunately we weren't permitted to post the performances. But please stay tuned for content that might enjoy! #TheRet'
so beautiful. why was everyone in their bare feet?
Linda!! ☮️💟💟💟
This is the woman that Jim Morrison should've got with, not Pamela Courson. She would've taken better care of him.
44:58 Linda reminds me of a joke on "All in the Family." Archie scolded daughter Gloria about her mini-skirt: "When you sit down, the mystery's over."

I wish they did not edit Linda Ronstadt's performances.
GROOVY, MAN, 😅😅

Rick Nelson, the grown son of Ozzie and Harriet. Not little boy Ricky.

Are mikes pants high enough?
