I've been struggling with this game.
I absolutely love the fact that it's PvPvE. It has all the adrenaline that Rust can give you, while having almost all the features of an RPG.
I haven't tried Dark and Darker yet. I will very soon.
But my lobbies have been almost always the same, one or two guys 1v9ing. The rest a mix between PvE guys that just want to escape, and guys that have no clue about what's going on.
I was one of the PvE at first. now I either try to gather enough valuables and leave or just go for the kill disregarding mobs.
Either way my opponents will be either people that have no idea where I'm attacking them from (I play Druid/Cryo/Pyro) or guys that know where I was before I even saw/heard them and just come and kill me in a couple of blows.
The matchmaking is terrible IMHO. And it's really frustrating.
I know it's supposed to be related to Gear Level. But using three heirlooms and the rest grey's, will bring Purple/Blue equipped guys to my lobbies.
Having only greens and no heirlooms. (16 to 20 level) I usually get a full blue equipped guy.
And losing to someone who is over geared or over experienced than you is a terrible feeling because you don't learn anything from the exchange and feel cheated after death.
I put like 30 hours in the last two weeks. And I'm not sure I want to go back.
Progression has been really slow, and the scenarios haven't changed much if I go alone or with one or two friends.
Thanks for all the written advice; It was a great way to learn how to behave during a fight.

what setbonuses were you running this game?

In the final 2 days of grinding, I found you can wear default shield and chest and get away with wearing 3 blue sets, I chose Tiny Torment 6/6, Pity of Death 6/6, Faery of the Lake 10/10. But most of the time I only ran with Tiny Torment & Pity of Death. It's surprising how often Pity can save you in various situations to reset and heal.

How do you end up with these people in classic? If I dare to even use sets in classic I get qued against people full epic on eu

Since the population in EU has been relatively good (so far), you can get into the 6-27gs matchmaking bracket if you don't use Heirloom stuff. However, when the population is low, you can still get matched into the full epic gear bracket. I still got into the high bracket like 50 times during my climb.

If the game wasnt full of cheaters it would be great

Yeah in the EU it's been relatively great with cheaters but I've heard it's disgusting in NA and Asia.

Haven't seen any cheaters in NA, or rather they instant banned.
