- At the American Century Championship in Tahoe, we teamed up with Korbel at the Long Drive competition. Celebrities such as Steph Curry, Patrick Mahomes, Nick Jonas, Aaron Rodgers, Charles Barkley, Tony Romo, Travis Kelce, Adam Theilen, Pat McAfee, AJ Hawk and much, much more competed!
All data was supplied from a Full Swing launch monitor.
Steph is one of those dudes whose athleticism makes him good at everything.
I'd say it's his mindset.

They used a launch monitor to estimate the distances and it didn’t matter whether the ball went OB. Kinda lame. I only spent about 10 minutes at the 16th.

Long drive contests go by total distance, not carry distance
They also have to hit it inside of a grid, this was just a simulator that corrects for offline shots.

because the game is evolving and is becoming more interesting. as a young person i couldn’t be happier. i started playing golf two years ago and am now a 4 handicap and love to just be myself on the course, don’t think i’ve ever worn a polo lol and say whatever i want

He's 6'2, with a 6'4 wingspan. He's also a professional basketball player, so there's no question he could generate the speed necessary. With proper mechanics, and right conditions, it's totally possible. Keep in mind he makes 50,000,000 a year... I'd reckon he has a decent swing coach. All this to say, it's definitely possible.
It's not on that elevation. I'm a 16 year old and can do that easily

@@johnnyreb3542 I doubt there's a conspiracy or that they used a shitty radar for him lol. With 6'8" of length its really not hard to get a fast swing if you can do it fluidly.
They just have the sensitivity adjusted up. I’ve worked with trackman. You can adjust all sorts of stuff. It’s set for calculating based on speed alone. Not quality of strike. And who knows what elevation and swing sensitivity. Based on their real life numbers. I’d say these numbers are inflated by 60-80 yards

FYI they hold the celebrity tourney in Lake Tahoe because the altitude is higher and ball flys further then sea level altitude and it's about a 30/40 yrd difference these guys are barely dancing at 280/300 fk out of here stick to your sports fakers!!! ⛳. 🦁 ☁️🐅.

Do you know what a Trackman is? The distances are extremely accurate they are also up in elevation which prob adds 10-15 yards off the tee

@@shaunchappell784 look at the leaderboard, all current or former elite athletes. Driving distance is the easiest, most translatable part of golf from other sports so not surprising at all to see the top numbers
@@rileywong9530 distance is the hardest thing to gain in golf, it can't be learned and athleticism from other sports doesn't relate to club face control, hitting the middle of the club face, club path and attack angle. You even heard them say "don't worry about direction, we got that covered" so obviously they're using the correction setting in the trackman software...... I've used it myself.
How many athletic people who aren't full-time golfers do you know that hit a 250+ let alone 300 yard + slice or pull draw??? Not many.
Look mate I'm not here to argue, but in 20+ years of playing to a high level, teaching and working as a design engineer, I've learned a few things, I'm not speculating, this is fact. Every single manufacturer, broadcast, broadcast team, most club fitters etc are all lying about distances, how do I know this..... I've played with elite players and pros and worked at design and R&D level within the industry.
And if you think elite players are all hitting 8 irons 200 yards(apart from Bryson), you got another thing coming. 95% of your pros are hitting their 8 iron between 160 and 170. Also don't be fooled......all of them are using jacked lofts as well and mostly 8.5 to 11.5 degree drivers to help them. Very few are using less than 8.5 degrees these days.

If you can drive it 300 in Tahoe….you can’t hit a golf ball. It adds 10%.
That is about 270 at sea level, extra 10% gets you to around 300. And I think the pro’s add from 12% to 15% depending on their ball flight.
Get out of here with that nonsense. A 330 carry in Tahoe is still a 300 at a low elevation and that 300 carry is 270 carry. Look at the ball speeds on the screen, they're producing 170+, I think Josh Allen was over 200, just mishit it. All these guys at the top still have total driving distances of 300+ anywhere in the world.
Nah. The trackman is rigged to be extra “confidence boosted”. I’ve seen these guys play pro Ams. All around good dudes but they don’t hit that far. Hicks maybe carry’s 300 sea level. But seeing Barkley carry 284 and he normally drives 240 total. You gotta figure there’s about 60-80 extra carry built in for these guys. So curry legit carries maybe 260 if he really pipes one perfect in his pro ams. I’m not hatin on anyone but just sayin it’s not realistic.

I have done a long drive contest. Some of these guys could not hit as far as they say . I have a drive 326 meters or 356 yards . On a good day I spend hours . I think they fuge the numbers so they not make the sport stars not look so bad . Only in America. Lol

REAL long drivers r hitting 450+ w Koch hitting 495 recently. You sound like a bitter douchebag that EVERYTHING is better in America. Look up Korn Ferry tour players. These are guys that were all D 1 studs and have been playing nonstop since birth, but struggle to get on the PGA. Steph is a great golfer, but he’d even tell you he’s not in their universe.
