  • In this demo, we'll go through the Clep Diaz multimode step CV generator and some of the great stuff you can do with it in your modular synth case.

    Clep Diaz is a handy and small step CV and LFO generator in Eurorack format. In step and random modes, use the encoder to control the number of steps (up to 32) in the sequence; in LFO mode, the encoder controls the amplitude of the wave. Toggle the directionality of the sequence: up, down, or up/down to customize the CVs further. The Clep Diaz also gives CV control over the number of steps in the sequence and a beginning-of-cycle trigger output. Unipolar and bipolar outputs allow maximal control.
    The Clep Diaz ships March 16, 2018. For more information, visit your local retailer or Noise Engineering's website at: www.noiseengin...

    For this video alone I purchased this module, seems like a great addition to my setup. It arrives tomorrow.

      it is a lot of fun and very different than most LFO almost like a cross between a sequential switch, step sequencer and LFO. Mine came today and been learning it.

    Nice jam! I'd like to listen to full (let's say 30 mins :p) version of this track :) POB rocks.

    Looks really useful. I just wish the random gave proper stepped random voltages in a locked loop. I guess maybe the thinking was "well the turing machine already does that" but combined with the other things that this module does it would have been really powerful.

    Very cool, I'm diving into modular right now, the Clep Diaz and the Mimetic Digitalis were the first modules I've bought. Currently waiting for them to arrive.
    I hope I can create a good companion for my TR-8S / KeyStep Pro / TB-03. It'll keep me busy during lockdown, that's for sure!

    I can't decide if I like the LED patterns, or if I think simply going with binary would have been better. Although, I guess if the CD can't play only 1 step, 2 steps in binary might look somewhat counter-intuitive (2nd LED lit to represent the fewest number of steps, instead of the 1st LED).
    What does the red /3 or /4 LED do when there are 12 or 24 steps? Does it alternate, or only show one?
    63 steps in up/down mode is a weird number (as opposed to 64 or even 62). It seems to suggest that one step (I'm guessing the last on the way up) is not repeated, and that it's always an odd number of steps (the number of steps is always 2n-1). Perhaps it's you guys wanting to be different and/or forcing creativity, but it seems like it would make using up/down mode in a conventional way (fitting neatly in 4/4, for example) a bit difficult. Hopefully I'm wrong about all this.

      Binary so 0 is included in the number of steps

    the step encoder works on a binary code in someway?

    • @red13emerald
      @red13emerald 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Linear Straight just the LED display. Least significant bit is at the top, most significant bit at the bottom. And it starts counting at 1, not at 0.

    How were you changing pitch with the octone? Or what mode? What were the connections?

    • @PatrickOBrien
      @PatrickOBrien 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ndgfunkera I put the Octone in Tune mode so I’m able to play the steps manually

    As a Noise Engineering fan, my Clep Diaz arrived today and been learning how to use it. Quite different than a regular LFO! Still trying to figure it out. So how would I modulate more than one oscillator? Holy cow my portable modular case is almost exactly like the one in this demo video! I even have the Cursus Iteritas, Batumi and Pamela New Workout. Never expected to replicate your setup in the video :-)

      Drop us a line for specific tips but the uni and bi outs can both be used to modulate anything you wish!

    does it need a clock source in order to work?

    • @NoiseEngineering

      Yes, CD requires an external clock to advance.
