  • Created with Udio.com, Lyrics mostly mine, concept for the song is mine
    [Verse 1]
In a village called Juffure, the sun was shining bright,
A boy named Kunta Kinte, was born into the light.
He grew up strong and brave, with freedom in his veins,
But dark shadows crossed his path, and life would never be the same.
    [Prechorus]
Through the trials and tribulations, his spirit never died,
A legacy of strength and hope, through generations wide.
    [Chorus]
Roots run deep, across the ocean wide,
From Africa to America, where the pain and hope collide.
Kunta Kinte, your story lives in me,
A testament of courage, in the land of the free.
    [Verse 2]
They bought him from his homeland, chained him to a ship,
The Middle Passage beckoned, with its iron grip.
He fought against his bondage, never lost his name,
Kunta, remembered, through the struggle and the pain.
    [Prechorus]
Through the whips and the shackles, his spirit soared above,
A beacon for his kin, a symbol of their love.
    [Chorus]
Roots run deep, across the ocean wide,
From Africa to America, where the pain and hope collide.
Kunta Kinte, your story lives in me,
A testament of courage, in the land of the free.
    [Verse 3]
In the fields of oppression, where freedom was a dream,
Kunta's spirit whispered, through the cotton and the steam.
His descendants carried forward, the fight to break the chains,
From Alex to the millions, the legacy remains.
    [Chorus]
Roots run deep, across the ocean wide,
From Africa to America, where the pain and hope collide.
Kunta Kinte, your story lives in me,
A testament of courage, in the land of the free.

Thanks. I tried a very serious song but snuck in the little irony of it being a Roots Rock song about Roots lol.

I remember watching Roots back in school ages ago. The whipping scene never left me. I remember thinking, "Don't give in. You've got this. Your name is Kunta Kinte." My heart was in my throat the whole time. Thank you for bringing all those memories back up tonight.

Thanks for checking it out and sharing the memory with me. This is probably the most serious song I have done so far. As an aside, were you the one who did the song based on Jack London's short story "Call of the Wild"? If so, I'm releasing the Rap song I was inspired to write after hearing your song called "You Got to Mush On" at 9 A.M. EST.

@@CreekyJarls Not me. But if you figure out who it was, let me know because I would love to hear that one and yours too.

Deep and raw, my guy. Excellent lyrics and the perfect accompanying songs with a powerful chorus.

Thanks. I tried hard to make a serious song that could be in a movie or T.V. show.😁

Thanks. Wasn't sure how it would be received, but the people who listened to it liked it. Hopefully it gets more views over time because it did poorly in the short term compared to my other stuff.
