This was incredible. I’m 22 newly born again as of 2019 and the Bible and Jesus Christ changed my life. However, I’m struggling with reaching my family. I’m encouraged to pray for these things specifically. I didn’t even realize my incapabilities were so obvious. I’m excited to see how the spirit of God can help me grow in humility to reach my family.
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. Your job is not to convince people just be the light in their life we cannot convince people of Jesus your Gods child enjoy it 💛 it doesn’t mean you give up on them but just love them for who they are and when they ask be equipped to answer !

He's doing a splendid job at explaining what the ideal should be for preaching and communicating. There's a lot to unpack here this is really great stuff. Just being authentic is difficult and knowing your material cold as he says. Follow the Holy Spirit as well if you spend too much time on one subject there's maybe a reason for it.
Keller is an excellent preacher because he doesn't compromise the Word but relates it to the culture is such a way as to show how bankrupt the culture's views are and how much superior are the Scriptural answers to human problems.
He's an excellent preacher, because he is such a good con artist? The "Word" is fake news. Religion teaches people how to believe and continue to believe fake news. Superior culture has to be based on fact -- "Scripture" is based upon myth. Religion just slows the world down.
@@jkk45 Fake News has become a useful term for many subjects. I think it's almost exactly correct to say that fake News *IS* a great description of non-Gospel religions ... just add Gospel religions to that list and you'll be on target. For the case of Biblical gospels, they are so terribly flawed as a potential source of reliable information that it could be argued that so many people having such high confidence in their authority is an embarrassment to humanity, except for the fact that so many victims of religion are in circumstances where they "live locked behind an iron-curtain" of ignorance about the true history of their own religion, their gospels, and how their human biases are used against them to keep them locked up and unable to discern reality from supernatural fiction. This includes terrible methods of epistemology that, unfortunately, can also be used to manipulate them into believing fake news on other topics, other than religion, much too readily. PEACE

To the comment of the young lady my answer is I know right now there are a lot of things in your life that make you feel left out. That you see all these things going on at school but these are not the natural things of God a young lady would or should really be exposed to. God loves you so much as you are his daughter and he the perfect father. He has a more wonderful life planned out for you than your schoolmates can possibly fathom. If you will concentrate on being your best you, learning and growing, those things you desire that are in Gods will, will come your way. Have patience and don’t ever waste a day of happiness or adventure pining for things you don’t have yet. I know this is hard for you to understand at this age but this has already been done before for many years and rarely has it ever worked out well. He loves you and I love you and we want you to believe and love in yourself in a Godly way that helps you believe when it is his time He will provide. Covering it from multiple sides and perspectives is something many never consider or can’t do till have hindsight or wisdom or train wreck. What we should offer as age and wisdom.
The way you show you believe in God's sovereignty, God's love, is you keep on slogging through the bad days and the good days alike, realizing that the work is yours (ours) and we do it because it is "there" to be done.... and the result is in God's hands, and not ours. There isn't time to stop and judge the seemingly-failed attempt; when the result is not what we expected, it is our expectation that falls short of reality, not the other way around.
This young girls issue is common for many people across the globe....because they are loved by God and yet we haven't been shown on earth, through the very ones who were supposed to model that. The heart as scripture describes it is the seat thats true. It is the core of our being, a person's will, what is also understood to be the Spirit. What it is not is the emotions. The sole is reason and emotion the mind. It is for this cause that we sin even knowing what we are doing is wrong self-destructive, hurtful to others. Desire is of the will not reason or emotion, though they often do seem almost inseparable. I would contend that this is the failing of all religion. It speaks to the sole but cannot reach the Spirit. Love cannot be mandated. Not because reason can't apprehend or agree with its nobel qualities but because the will is bent toward self. Christianity differs in that it alone describes the problem correctly and offers a solution; a new heart...

Not trying to be critical, just curious. Tim spent the first 1/3 of this talk advocating that emotion and the attention given to it is erroneous. Here are some "texts" for YOU, Tim Keller: "To thine own self be true and it follows as the night the day, that you cannot be false to any man". And, before that, "Know the truth and the truth shall set you free." Paraphrased as best I can these days. You are not just a provocateur of conscience to your audience. You would be most-powerful as an example. Don't accept being the waiter offering a selection of other-people's ideas from a silvered tray. Live your life with heart, and share THAT. Go spend nights in an emergency room. Get your hands dirty with suffering; cause some bad dreams and restless nights for yourself by attending to those who are losing, who are being stripped. Get into the real battles; you are too insular, too removed. Speak the truth and bear the consequences. If it is an increase in salary, it is NOT the truth that needs saying; look further; learn to carry the Light.
Dr Keller did indeed get his hands dirty with suffering, as he pastored a church for many years and sat with people through great loss and pain. He also battled his own pain with cancer before he died and went to be with Jesus, during which he continued to preach on suffering and how God is present in the midst of pain.
@@megansaunders7244thanks for defending Keller, I thought to do so myself, we will see if this lady responds, her comment was three years ago. May God bless you
Where are you getting this idea that Tim Keller never puts himself into uncomfortable situations? Did you know he had to counsel people after 9/11 since his church is in NYC? He experienced his own battles with cancer and as well as his wife. Also, before you urge people to place themselves into uncomfortable situations, you should ask yourself, "Am I doing?" If not, then there is no backing to your comment.
In general love your sermons, your speaking, and choice of words. However, Mr Keller, would you please monitor how often you 'clear your throat'! It is a terrible habit for any public speaker, let alone for a preacher to be doing. Saying 'excuse me' is really not the answer when the the habit is constant. Also, consider people listening through headphones...the amplification is huge!
"Preaching to the heart" .. ever wonder why people talk so much about the "heart"? ... because, it's biblical... when the Christian myth was formed, people thought emotions and thoughts were produced by the "heart" instead of the brain. Back then it was understandable for people to believe silly things such emotions were produced by the heart and that gods exist and it is more forgivable for such an error. With religion, people are slow to learn and tend to regress to inferior methods of thinking about the world. Now, in modernity, it is less forgivable to believe silly things like gods exist -- especially such a silly and impossible god as depicted in the bible. Maybe the internet will help mitigate these silly god myths. You are slowing humanity down, religious people, you are slowing the world down. Now, if you understood religion openly as nothing but myths that you can use, with massive mental gymnastics, to live a better life that is one thing, but if you work hard to pretend god is real, then you are just holding the world back.
You read so much because you "are desperate to reach people"? I read as a way to escape. When I read, I choose to be with "someone" who uses English, unlike the commonly-illiterate folks who contribute to TH-cam. You know, the ones who use "wonder" for "wander"... the people who never read, didn't have time, whatever the reasons.... good people who are basically illiterate. Tim Keller needs to look at himself more deeply; he speaks well but his analysis appears superficial to me. He is unwilling to see the "whys" behind his life decisions and how "comfortable" he chooses to be, rather than inflicting real growth-causing, nay growth-forcing, stress on himself and his comfortable associations. Where Jesus jumped into a whaling boat and put his life on the line speaking Truth to whomever he met, Reverend Keller sits in a row boat on a pond on a sunny day; he sits, because standing and rocking the boat could be dangerous.
Man. I miss this dude. We'll see him again for sure.

Where Jesus jumped into a whaling boat and put his life on the line speaking Truth to whomever he met, Reverend Keller sits in a row boat on a pond on a sunny day; he sits, because standing and rocking the boat could be dangerous.
Broski what are you talking about?
