Tragic Fact: Tappei confirmed that Subaru's mother, Naoko, and father, Kenichi are still looking for him. They have informed the authorities of the problem, but they have not been able to locate any leads. While Kenichi is still doing everything in his power to lift Naoko's spirits, she is gradually losing it. This episode demonstrates our parents' unconditional love for us, even in cases when we are unaware of it. 💔
Easily the most heartbreaking thing that Tappei has done imo 😭, even though it will likely never happen, I hope he writes in some kind of closure for them eventually.
I haven't read the LN so Idk if there's any closure at all about his parents, but I really wish there is, like man, Subaru mom doesn't deserve being depressed
@@Nah_I-ll_Win yeah like at least give them a notice smh 🙄, extremely rude behaviour, how she gonna try and marry Subaru and not even ask for his parents permission.
47:06 In Japan, if you don't answer when someone says "Take care" it's symbolic in that you don't intend to return. Makes Subaru's disappearance so much more depressing on his parent's end.
The fact that usually you love to get isekai'd into a new world because of the cruel reality, but with Re:Zero you genuinely want to return to your past world due to the sufferings that Subaru has been experiencing compared to his own world. Life really doesn't go the way as planned after all. 💔
According to Tappei, if Subaru hadn't been isekai'd his father would have helped him work through all of his traumas and eventually heal. Basically Subaru's life was essentially ruined after getting transported to the Re:Zero world. He would still eventually improve without all the sufferings he experienced from Return By Death. 🔥
@@dokkino7105 I think he can, but it will take longer, maybe until he is in his 20s years old? and he will still be in shock and have some mental issues after Got isekaied like Loneliness, Overwhelming Fear Of Death, etc
It's fascinating to be able to see parts of Subaru's personality in his parents, Subaru's direct and odd way of speaking is from his mother and his expressiveness is from his father
Up until this episode, let's see all the mental issues that Subaru has ever had. -Anxiety Disorder -Panic Disorder -Social Anxiety Disorder -Imposter Syndrom -Insanity/False Insanity -Inferiority complex -PTSD -Depression -Self-Blame -Paranoia -Overwhelming Fear of Death -Loneliness -Identity Crisis -Self-Hatred -Obsession -Escapism -Savior Complex -Self-Harms
Get off your armchair there, Self-proclaimed Psychiatrist. I can definitely see Subaru with PTSD and Depression. But he doesn't fit every diagnosis in the sun. Where are you getting Social Anxiety Disorder from? Subaru can interact with people just fine, and when he has issues, it's usually because of the depression. If Subaru actually had S.A.D, he would struggle just to say hello to people. Which he doesn't, he's very outgoing and sociable. Most of the lower half of what you listed are all traits of either depression or PTSD. Mental Illnesses are already stigmatized as it is. It's not a game, not a trend, and not a bunch of fashion labels you can just tack on. Before you spout crap, do your research.
lowkey this is my favorite episode of rezero. It's just too real. Also Caw's story about college is way too fucking relatable. I lost my dad on the 4th of july weekend after i dropped out of college earlier in the year. I've never been able to bounce back. Good for you Caw, I respect the grind bro.
Episode hit the feels just like I expected it to. Did a great job in diving into how Subaru became the character he was in Season 1, and shows us just how much he has grown since he left his world to enter the one of Re: Zero. Such powerful scenes between him and his parents. He realizes that although he can't be there with them, he will still do what it takes to make them proud and always keep them in his heart. Beautiful episode, exactly how I had hoped it would play out.
It's really interesting that Subaru has a pretty normal family, at the very least it functions normally, bar any strange mayo habits. That combined with Subaru getting sudden pings of pain make me wonder if he was having panic attacks about his entire situation. Also, Subaru's room clearly indicates that he is a man of culture.
Fun Fact: In a side story, it's revealed that everyone in the arc 2 cast actually loves mayonaise, bar Rem, only due to her PTSD due to Subaru admonishing her for making a bath out of it 😭😭😭😭
Wow. Usually most anime fail with a full episode dialogue but when it's Re:Zero, it hits hard. This episode went by too fast, just like the dialogue episode with Rem's "From Zero". Subaru is such an amazing protagonist and I'm happy he's doing it his own way. This episode really hits home.
I knew you were a Canadian, but I didn't know you were from Nanaimo! I, too, am from the island. Remember when Woodgrove Mall had that really cool clock tower that kids kept throwing coins into? :D
This is the third consecutive episode in which i haven't seen Subaru have a death, we are in need of celebration! Also DAMN that made me tear up. Best episode so far for me including S1 .
One thing that has always bothered me about this episode is the fact that subaru thinks that it is impossible for him to return to his own world. From all the information subaru knows in the anime, there's nothing to suggest that. Maybe the LN gives an answer, but the anime sure makes it seem that subaru just resigns himself to not even trying to know whether there is a way to go back. Considering that a main message that subaru has had is that "giving up is easy, but it doesn't suit you" it really bothers me that he accepted his circumstances this easily without questioning it once whether he could really go back. Again I haven't read the LN, maybe it doesn't have this problem, but the anime definitely has this problem, and it makes subaru's characterization a bit inconsistent.
Maybe because he didn't want to risk leaving his new life with Emilia Rem Beatrice, where he is something here, someone needed. If he's not there they're basically dead already. That's why its so complicated feeling of wanting to go back but not want to risk leaving them.
from the first volume, it's described by the narration that Subaru somehow knew that he would never go back to his original world. I don't want to go in detail about what that may mean since it would involve spoilers and some s1 cut content, but I believe, from the way it's written, that there's some piece of information locked away within Subaru's mind that tells him it's impossible to go back, and it's something so deeply engraved in his soul that he can't even bring himself to question it.
@@richchard5893 well again that works under the assumption that subaru thinks emilia will always be in danger, I just don't understand why he would think of it as an impossibility, rather than something hard or something that'll take some time. He loves his parents as well, I can not imagine how much it must torment him, which is why his resignation to not even thinking that one day in the future he might and try find a way back to them makes no sense.
@@GodotBlend_wh4t This is what I meant, I assumed the LN did have some answer because I don't believe tappei could have missed something this obvious. I still hope one day it's answered in the anime, because one must be logically consistent on it's own rather than relying on other material.
26:42 By the way, one of the reasons he stopped going to high school was because in his debut he crossdressed as a girl and was eventually discovered after some days lmao.
