Yeah, it ain't easy, I'll tell you. It's getting hard the older the kids get too. I will likely need to adjust some of my work load after this book to continue to make this sustainable.
I think my best art process is getting up super duper early while the house is super quiet…it’s glorious!! I just started to get out of artist burnout since July…I feel great drawing and moving my shoulders and getting into a good rhythm of my art!!! There have been days I go back to bed…>_~ I’m slowly getting back into my art groove!! Working on brainstorming a comic/autobio graphic novel about my life… I’m also taking art lessons one day a week which has also helped me get back into my grooves…Thanks for the video Mike😊
That's awesome! Sounds like you're doing the right stuff. And it's OK if something it doesn't pan out. You can only do so much. I have to tell myself this all the time, that I did the best I could with the day and be content with the results. Keep going!
Glad this was helpful! I’m constantly having to learn balance. Partly why I spend so much time talking through this stuff is me trying to remind myself of what I’m supposed to be doing. lol
All in all I’ve probably been working on it for about 2.5 years. It’s taking me longer than any book before and the largest book to date. But 1.5-2.5 years seems to be the range, generally.
I also get up early, and I love having a coffee and working while everyone else is asleep. 😊
I'm also a dad with a day job, so I really resonate with this. I get a bit of time in the mornings and a bit in the evenings.
Yeah man. Just carve whatever time you can. If you’ve found any helpful tips, I’m open ears! lol. Keep up the awesome work.
Wow and you’re a dad on top of it all? Phew… hats off to you sir!

I love your work, and I can't wait for your new books to come out!

I’m a night owl 🦉 - I need to change that, I can’t handle the mornings anymore like I used to.
I can’t stay up later anymore. About 11:30 I’m crashing pretty hard.

Amazing! How much time did you (and publisher) give yourself to work on this latest graphic novel?

@@Michael.Regina thank you for your reply 🙏 😊
