I've been a dm for a single player described in story 2 and it's *DRAINING*. He was more there for the vibes but it really put a dampener on the game for me.
I would've given the players of first story the curse of the Potato (Head), where the fragments of the soul gain control of fragments of the body that can function independently
Ok in regards to Story 1 A solit personality could work as a way to explain a PC's absence , like if they are injured or even on Vacation. Should of told DM about the plan though. Story 2 it sounds like a combination of a Bias storyteller and trolling. OP said the party knew their class mechanics, but to just not interact is strange. Regardless another lovely video Taylor. A one shot with a character that has D.I.D. or S.P.D. is an interesting idea I completely forgotten about the second story. It sounds like the players dodged a bullet there
The everyone is the same character game sounds like a fun concept. But having that just sprung on me would not work. Let me know and prepare for that type of game. Or the Inside Out characters in the world inside someone's head. It's one of my favorite movies. I haven't had a chance to see the second one yet, but I look forward to it.
Story 2: I'm wondering if the OP was trying to run the module they were writing, and the players were trying to pick it apart to make sure it could stand up to being run/played by the lowest common denominator-type players/DMs.
So me and my freinds were having an argument that went something like this hey so this characters here he’s drawn on the map here and he’s colored in the dm agreed with me before session the during the session he’s like that’s where we think he is but we don’t know he also added extra pathways and a forest to my map during the game session even tho I told him to this map depicts a mountainis area with a few valleys that’s it and so I got sick of it and said straight up shouldn’t the map be objective sure the player characters don’t know all the details of were everything is but the map should right and they all said no! So that means the map shouldn’t be objective it’s subjective I disagree who’s in the right?
The first story reminds me of the TTRPG "Everyone is John" where the entire group plays one single dude. It's hilarious
Dropout did a whole five-part adventure based on the premise of the first story. It was called Mentopolis. Epic stuff.
