Is there a reason for why they never set up trade routes between them? Wouldn't that help with the gold issues?

There were raids in their bases on both sides. If you cant stop the enemy from entering your base, how can you protect the trade route. It only works if the enemy is passive.
@@vetev Yes I understand that, but the raids were coming from the front, I think it would have been posible to secure the trade route in the back. Also fitz was down many villagers and low on gold, it was a perfect way to help with both issues. But I guess its easier said than done.
@@Fenris7xI think there’s something to “easier said”- if you’re starved for gold, it costs a lot of gold to make a trader, and then a lot of time to make back the investment. It’s something I dislike about AOE is how many resources like gold you need just to increase production for the same resource

Hi Aussie_Dongo,
I am Conqueror 3 Ottoman main ( I also play Malians and Mongols as my 2nd and 3rd picks) and I hope this helps but seeing as I main Ottomans I always try to find the best counters to make sure I am ready to counter. There is two counter civs that counter ottomans hard.
1. Malians -Maxed Culvs + Max Jav Throwers + Siege Festival (Activate siege festival and you only need 2 Max Culvs to kill Max Great Bombard). If they have any 3rd unit just build the counter as necessary. The key is the siege festival bringing the # of shots from 3 extra shots down to to 2. The jav throwers are also the best anti range units in game especially with the upgrades.
2. Mongols - The Key here is to Save your ores for upgrading ONLY your siege upgrades for springalds and mangos. If they build a third unit again counter as necessary. With mongols you have 13 range springalds (more than culverins) do more damage per resources cost (factors in the siege damage bonus) and you move and attack faster than any culverins. On top of that you don't need gunpowder upgrade. You send scout in front as vision sacrifice. Same time You go in with springalds to target the bombard (use chain commands) and use mangos to hammer the janissary. The ottomans are going to want to take your springalds first as great bombard are their win condition unit. Even if they attack mangonels first, the springalds and mangos have so much range armor that the jannnisary still have a bad match up and they have no more great bomabrds. Of course you want to keep the ottomans tempo down as much as possible. Only thing they can do is go cavs and if they do have your spearmen or crossbowmen on defense while you pick them off with springalds. Once you gain map control and wear down their eco. You probably will come across some forts (hope you saved your ores) now spend those ores on upgrading the battering ram and watch that 30% attack speed go to work. Don't forget to be using your khan for arrow techniques which you can upgrade at the ovoo landmark. If they have great bombard just keep shooting with springalds and be annoying until they attack then just wipe them out and repeat.

There are other civs which can counter the Ottomans in some way like China, Rus or Zhu Xi. The problem is it needs a shit ton of micro to be able to do so. While the Ottomans have it very easy because of their busted units.
@@Skyline68230 most definitely but the two civs I listed with this strat requires minimal micro and more on macros. Also you have the best imperial counter stats to resources wise.

@@oknice8325 Dude, your Mongol example just shows how much micro you must do to counter the Ottomans. And Javelin throwers would be very good against Janissaries, but it is the exact same, they require a huge amount of micro to work properly.
Drongo's normal voice is so strange after watching 100 videos from him.
When new patch notes were realesed I immediately thought about GB. It's shame that devs didn't think about them. Looks like they don't play their own game
The devs have fixed issues that even the pros oversaw, like the fact that horsemen in imperial used to be quite overtuned but nobody really noticed. They do know their stuff. The GB themselves also aren't really the issue; it's the janissary. You just cannot use cav to kill the GB's because of them. Imo Janissaries need a slight damage buff in exchange for removing their bonus damage vs cav.
Ottoman lamers...? So if laming sheep is stealing and or killing the enemy sheep, wouldn't that mean ottoman lamers be ottoman killers?

Turns out the armchair conqueror was right after all - culverins over springalds and kite the GBB :P I still think it's ridiculous how much pushing power a GBB/jannisary gives. Destroys infantry/calvary, siege (except culverin) and buildings. Whereas culverins only let you fend off siege.

Imperial ottomans beats pretty much every civ in the game, and that's why it needs to be nerfed.

@@Skyline68230 pretty much, but imperial Sushi's legacy's bombard, imperial guard zuke nuke is a better version that does beat out every civ in the game. Just not well practiced by high level players. conqueror 3 saying this. Most havent finessed the build to get there yet is all. actually tbh most dont even know.
@@mrsupa444 The Zhu Xi mix of aoe bombard with additional range (with temple of the sun), Zhuge Nu/Crossbow and Palace guards can indeed counter the Sipahi, Janissaries, Great bombard mix, but it asks a fair bit of micro. And honestly, if the Sipahis are well microed in the Ottoman side, they would absolutely demolish the Zhuge Nu and the Bombards.
However, this Zhu Xi comp doesn't destroy any civ in the game. A simple French/JD or Rus massive knight charge would easily demolish this Zhu Xi mix.

Ottomans are extremely OP. They must be nerfed, this is not fair. Everyone is playing them on the ladder. My last 6 games were against ottomans.
You gotta hippodrome for that fuedal pressure, ottos need gold, if you can slow their castle time then you win with a castle push... maybe thats why i cant win with byz lol i only go hippo
GBB shouldn't be able to dominate springalds and culverin. maybe 65% damage against those?

Drongo this is all well and good but we need a strategy that works for more civs, not just culverine civs. The ottoman scourge is real on the ladder and we cant always tell in advance who they're choosing
I'd say just go for more early agro on Ottomans, they're pretty helpless until they're castle age and start making free mangonels

HRE so you dont need to start trading as early, but should still have market in corner for your ally by 14 minutes. still, by 25 you should really really have trade in team games.... this map if you have mid map control you can get away with putting it off, but you didnt.

depends on the map. this was a very gold rich map. if you give up map control for a trade boom and the enemy have the central gold and central map control you will still lose.

You should really make some units you know... I mean your goal is going imp with 4 maa while your teammate is getting bullied.. and just a tip, dont wait to make villagers until the last one is done, just put like 10 or some in wait so you dont lose like 10 vills in a match bc of this.
