Hi Donna, how can I tell which word uses light and which word uses stress in a whole sentence? Everytime I just can't distinguish them clearly.

Hi Jackie, It can be tricky. English has stressed and unstressed syllables and words. Nouns are usually the most important, so are always stressed. The content words, that carry meaning, are stressed. The small function words for grammar, like articles, prepositions, pronouns and helping verbs are not stressed. If you need more pronunciation coaching, I'd be happy to talk with you. Book a Call: calendly.com/clearenglishcoach/zoom-phone-call. Cheers, Donna

Hello Tirhas, yes, "R" is difficult for many people. The back of your tongue needs to go down. Practice my Mouth & Tongue Exercises to help strengthen your muscles. Good luck. If you want to learn more about my pronunciation program, schedule a call with me. I would be happy to talk with you. Cheers, Donna calendly.com/clearenglishcoach/zoom-phone-call

There are several mouth and tongue movements to coordinate to say the word, "twelve." 1st is the "twah" using a pucker and a puff of air, then the lips smile for the "eh" then the tongue flattens for the "uhL" dark L sound. Next the bottom lip touches the teeth for the voiced "v" sound. Good luck. Let me know how how do.
