      Hi. I use Piccassio UV Resin which is a premium quality Resin, but the distributors are few and recently they've been unreliable. So in spite of my love for Piccassio, I'm looking for alternative brands that cures hard (non tacky) and clear.
      My first question to you is, how is the Let's Resin brand UV resin regarding hard/non-tacky curing?
      Second question is how is the viscosity? Thin? Thick?
      I have a larger 36 Watt Let's Resin UV light, which I love. I'm just looking for an alternative UV resin given the issues I am having with Piccassio distributors.
      I hope to switch to Let's Resin UV resin. Your answers could help me to inform my decision.
      Thank you very much in advance for any feedback you can offer. For the record, I am not a novice, so I'm quite familiar with layering, application of alcohol inks, mica powder, dilution of resin due to additives, under lighting before demolding, etc.
      Cheers!
      Erik

      I haven’t had any issues with the Let’s resin UV resin being sticky and it cures hard. With any UV resin, there is a ‘cool down’ period right after curing where there’s a ‘rubber’ tackiness, but it goes away after a minute or so once it’s cools down.
      I’d say the viscosity is on the thinner side of standard. But it still will dome nicely.
      Have you checked out JDiction UV resins? I’ve only used the regular one, so far, but they do also have high and low viscosities available.
      Here’s one of the videos I’ve done using it.

      Thank you for watching!
      My videos are not to teach people safety, they are to show how I create. I am not responsible for other people’s safety, nor am I required to include safety information in my videos. To be perfectly honest, I’ve been wearing gloves in the entirety of my videos lately due to fingernail issues I’ve been dealing with for the past two years. Recently I’ve refrained from polishing them, to hide it, and working with my doctor to solve the issue. They are unsightly, and no one wants/needs to see that. Had I not had this current issue, I most likely would have not worn gloves in this particular video as I know I’d not be getting UV resin on my hands, which is why you’d wear gloves. Again, it is not my responsibility to teach safety, but thanks for your concern! Happy crafting!

    I still haven't tried uv resin. It looks fun but seems like it can be finicky.

    • @JOTZdesigns
      @JOTZdesigns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely try it!
      I’d say all types of resin are finicky, but UV resin is much less finicky than epoxy resin.
      The big thing to remember is it needs the UV light to cure…
      So make sure you don’t expose it to UV light until you’re ready (including keeping it away from window light); don’t add too much colorant/embellishments to make it opaque, otherwise the UV light can’t penetrate through and cure everything; and use the translucent molds only so the light can penetrate through the mold.
      The best part is it only takes minutes to cure, and you aren’t waiting hours while hoping it turns out ok!
      Thanks for watching! ☺️🧡

    • @JOTZdesigns
      @JOTZdesigns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve never seen requirements for using goggles when using UV lamps. However, I do try to avoid looking at the lights. You can always block the open side(s) by placing aluminum foil in front. That will also help cure the item(s) as it bounces the light around more inside. Thanks for watching! 🧡☺️

    • @JOTZdesigns
      @JOTZdesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible to have a bad batch, but quite rare. Please give me information on what you’re doing. Are you using a mold or bezel? What steps are you taking and how long are you curing the resin for? Have you tried sunlight?

    • @CynthiaEmbry
      @CynthiaEmbry ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JOTZdesigns I am using the same molds you used and the light provided. I haven’t tried sunlight as we haven’t had much. I just ordered a new light to try that. I use thin layers. I turn over and do the backs too with the light. The last layer always ends up gooey. And I’ve tried curing for more minutes but still gooey.

    • @JOTZdesigns
      @JOTZdesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      Happy to help! Epoxy resin cures by mixing the two parts together (correctly). Depending on the epoxy used, it can take up to 24 hours to cure. Clearcast 7050 is good for jewelry, has little odor, and cure in about 6-10 hours (pouring in molds always takes longer than pouring as a layer on something).
      Definitely watch more epoxy videos if you’re looking to try it out, too.
      Here’s one on how to mix it.

      once again thank you for you prompt reply one question what is the different between UV Resin and epoxy resin

    • @JOTZdesigns
      @JOTZdesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      UV resin is cured by exposing it to UV light (lamp or sun). Epoxy resin is a two-part resin that will only cure when you mix part A (resin) and part B (hardener) together in the correct ratios (either weight or volume). A lot of epoxy resins are 1:1 ratio, but my favorite, Clearcast 7050 from the Epoxy Resin Store, is 2:1 ratio. Just be sure to always read the directions for whatever resin you use to make sure you are measuring correctly!

    • @JOTZdesigns
      @JOTZdesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Yes you can use the glow in the dark powder in UV resin. You can use glitters, mica powders, and matte powders, too. The biggest thing you want to watch out for when using it in UV resin is that you don’t make it too opaque because you then run into the possibility of not being able to cure the resin all the way through. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching! 🧡☺️

    • @JOTZdesigns

      You really can you just about anything. Keep in mind that if it’s opaque (even too much glitter) will cause curing issues. Things that are water or oil based (including acrylic paint and inks) can also cause curing issues, so use them sparingly. Thanks for watching! 🧡☺️

    • @JOTZdesigns
      @JOTZdesigns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If it’s still sticky, then it’s not fully cured. Some reasons for that are:
      Not curing long enough.
      Too opaque - either the additives and/or mold.
      Your UV light has gone bad.
      Adding too many things that prevent the resin from curing properly - ie. alcohol inks, acrylic paint, silicone oil.
