This scene crushed me. The tears that flowed down Ziyi as she knows she has no choice now but to forget Hu Fei. However SHE CAN'T. Even with no dialog it's easy to tell what Ziyi is thinking about. She's missing Hu Fei alot wishing he can save her from this karma she let take route.
I'm so confused with this scene🤔, it's because Ziyi has been exposed about her biological dad..... her master doesn't want them to doubt her intentions and wanted to remain as a people they can trust....So Ziyi no choice has to go along with it..... Seems like a surprise to herself as well ,she has to become a nun so soon.
@@Hannah-fq6ce no basically this scene from my understanding is that she finally decided to become a nun. Becoming a nun for Ziyi means she is moving on from loving Hu Fei. That's why she's crying in this scene when her master is cutting her hair.

@@Hannah-fq6ce You can tell inside shes calling for Hu Fei to help save her. I find this scene very similar to when Hu Fei was caught by her father and put in the cell. She risked everything and save him, this time Hu Fei was not here. Its so sad and heartbreaking. I see this scene also as Yuan Ziyi, The One Who Loves to Wear Purple, essentially dying. She was reborn as someone who is regretful, a nun who is by the very nature a hypocrite to Buddha.
