Hello! I bought 2 stalks of lemon grass at the grocery store, intending to pot them, but they did not develop roots. I bought those 2 stalks because they were cut the closest to the bulb so I thought surely they would root. Where can I get some lemon grass?

I bought some lemongrass from our local Buddhist temple market and I put them in water, after 6 days roots were growing. They will be ready to plant when the roots are 2 inches. Im so excited to plant my lemongrass. Thank you for your video! Lots of great information 🕉️

Thank you it is good info. Just one sugestión: see in image search the differences between lemon grass and citronella. The lemon grass has green steams and it May be ingested while citronella has reddish steams and it is for topical use only. However, if you have an infusion of citronella it only causes a mild allergy for a half an hour. Also, notice that there is another type of citronella, which leaves are very different and serves to deter mosquitos.

My mom use to boil it with orange peel and give us to drink whenever we have a fever. In our country we call it fever grass. No need to go to the Dr after drinking it.

I have been watching you almost from the beginning (Also, I have the notification bell on, so I don't miss one!) AFAIK, lemongrass is a plant-and-forget-then-harvest shrub. Once planted, it no longer requires any attention and/or maintenance, i.e. no need to water, no need to add fertilizer, no need to prune, etc. I live in a 4-seasonal area and planted my lemongrass shrub in my backyard on a regular/plain soil. It just grows sans any of my interventions. Unlike what is shown in your video, my lemongrass shrub grows vigorously and each of its mature stalk has a diameter of 1" or bigger with nearly 1" wider leaves. In Winter when temperature dips below 0C, it dies off. Then, it grows back when temperature starts to warm up in Spring.

Go online and find Thai grocery. They will mail lemongrass and you just trim it and soak it in water and it will grow and spread!! I’m in far west Texas. This is what I did. ❤️

Most Asian stores have them. I peeled a few leaves and cut the bottom a little before you soak it. Change water in a couple days then wait for the roots to come out then you can plant them. My mistake was I planned them too close to each other. I planted 3 stalks in each hole and they sre growing up pretty well.

Very interesting. However, you mentioned not to use chemical fertilizers. Just a note all fertilizers are chemicals whether they are natural or synthetic. Which you may have meant was to use organic or non-synthetic fertilizers which I agree. Just keeping things together. Love your video thank you for doing this.

I planted lemongrass on 2. 5 acres of terraced land. I live in Kenya, East Africa on the coast which is a malaria zone. We now have thousands of mosquitoes in the evening in the house and outside. They are living in the lemon grass. We get under our nets early and are pulling up the lemongrass in the day. All the leaves are going into the banana circles. I will make a tea with the roots. But I have hundreds of roots. I need help!

Lemon grass is differnt to Citronella which has wider, deep green coloured blade-like leaves and features a strong fragrance and taste. Lemongrass has narrow, light green leaves with a light lemony scent and taste. Lemongrass is edible. It is also used as a major ingredient in seasoning and spices.
