Adding knockback sync and setting up a server were as and na can play was a goal of mine for the axe and shield community for a while now tysm for sharing this!
@@gamemount5827 knockback sync is built for servers running spigot, paper, etc. unfortunately, a fabric version may never be made, as I'm not a mod developer.
Really great video man! I knew something was different about 1.21 MMC knock back for a while but I wasn’t sure exactly what it was; this just made me way more hyped for its release
@Crating if you can jump reset properly then this gives you a lot more control over your kb and increases the skill ceiling. For players that heavily rely on abusing their ping (my old playstyle, so I'm not judging), it'll make things harder. Like I said, it feels fairer. Kb on 250ms (my NA ping) with kb sync felt identical to my kb on 50ms vanilla (my oce ping). I could still beat n00b_exe (ht3 sword) about 40% of the time with 250ms on kb sync, which is the same as when we dueled without kb sync. It just felt fairer and I had to actually jump reset instead of holding W and praying It makes the game function much more as intended. If people can't win when their kb is working normally, that's unironically just a skill issue

Normally, a high ping player will take somewhere between 0 and X+Y amount of kb (X depends on cps, player velocity, player acceleration, weapon, ect., and Y is a constant). Now, that high ping player only takes X amount of kb. As you can see, all this does is make it so high ping players take a predictable amount of kb. This is helpful in a gamemode like bedwars, where you want to know if you'll be sent off the edge, or just a block backwards (so you can plan out whether to being block clutching, or continue attaacking). In a nutshell, high ping players used to roll a 6 sided dice that told them how much kb they'd take. Now, they'd always just take 4 or 5, like a low ping player would. Sure, on average they take more knockback, but they aren't praying to RNGesus to get good kb rolls now: they can predict how much kb they'll take, and plan accordingly, instead of having to make millisecond decisions because random chance decided to screw you over today.

This does nothing but benefit pvp, I tested it with Intel, and multiple high ms players, and practically no one complained. I know it may be bad at first, but I think as a whole this is a needed change.

oof you need to speak up about the code stealing situation, alternatively you should put up a viable license option for you, such as letting people use the mod in non-commercial and commercial uses but not when they want to redistribute an edited version, so they couldnt properly build the mod into any newer version, though the issues stay on older versions

Dude I play Eu at 150 ms and NA at 220 ms and it has mad my experience on server like hoplite so bad. But I think this will bring minecraft pvp back from the dead! Super excited for the reales of MMC 1.20 server and I can't wait for others servers to implement it. Ooh and great video❤

I know this can't be entirely fixed, but higher ping players will always be more in the past. It is just easier for lower ping players to get the first hit as they can enter into attacking range of the higher ping player, and the higher ping player sees that a small moment later before having a chance to respond, which can lead to a whole lot of things like combos.
YES!!! This would be a game changer. If you have high ping, you would be able to understand the pain of chasing someone and getting constant ghost hits when ur enemy is as close as 2 blocks away from you. This plugin will fix that flawlessly Edit: This is assuming the synchronisation also fixes the bad hitreg caused by the server thinking that you are further away from your opponent than the reality
I want to point out also that high ping players suffer from hit registration and block placement issues. High ping does not necessarily make it easier for you. Calling high ping “easy mode” isn’t fair. I think a lot of low ping players overlook that and take their low ping for granted. But yes, this plugin is huge. Makes things at least a little bit more balanced.
high ping essentially creates a higher floor and a lower skill ceiling. this means less experienced players can perform better than they would on low ping, while the opposite is true for more experienced players. when mentioning delay bringing hit registration issues, it's important to mention the upsides that delay can bring. with identical spacing and running in a straight line toward a lower ping opponent, the lower ping player's attack will reach the server and register first. however, the information meant to be sent to you will be delayed by your ping, resulting in a much larger time frame to hit back, making trades much easier. and then there's hitting players from previous locations, which can go both ways. however, someone who frequently experiences high ping will be much more used to this than their opponent most of the time. including the velocity issues, this makes close fights much more common, regardless of individual skill.
i actually already think about why servers dont predict the knockback and act it out for high ping player when i fight high ping players. literally without this plugin, i cannot play with high ping players. thank you for shouting this out and thank someone made this plugin
This has been my biggest complaint about pvp in mc since I joined the competitve community back in 2020 so thank you soo much for bringing attention to Caseload's plugin Intel!!
ping affects both parties the same way. your ms/ the opponents ms alone does not decide the visual delay (time between you performing an action like hitting someone and you getting the visual feedback that the hit was registered). you have to combine both ms to get the cumulative ms (for example 80ms vs 20ms = 100 ms/ 2 ticks -> visual delay is 100 ms). In this scenario (80 ms vs 20 ms) the person with 80 ms does not get his hits registered later than the 20 ms person because it takes the same time for both parties (100 ms). high visual delay does change the game fundamentally in terms of how trades will be played out because it does the determine when the first hit in the trade is registered (example: player 1 hits when hes 3 blocks away to player 2 with both running straight into each other (around 8 blocks/second *2 (both of them running into each other) -> 16 blocks/ second =0,8 blocks/tick (they run into each other at that speed) and with a visual delay of 2 ticks/100 ms the players will have already moved 4 blocks into each other completely changing the hitsequence (when hits are placed during a trade). This is also why it looks like you are very close to the opponent on your screen when combing someone if the cumulative ms is high. So it does fundamentally change the game but gives neither a direct advantage or disadvantage because it affects both parties the same. you can feel a subjective bias to playing very low ms for an example tho because if you have low ms the cumulative ms will always be relatively low (depending on who you are fighting) so you might be used to low visual delay whilst the other player is not giving you an advantage in that regard (as i said it changes how the game works/how you have to play it to win so if you are not used to low cumulative ms your timing will be off) there is still an advantage when it comes to damage registration on the server side, block placements, etc, but the visual delay which affects course of the hitsequence is the same for both parties, so therefore there is no actual advantage on servers that handle higher ping properly (mmc etc). there is only a subjective bias to playing on certain ms
One of the twitter replies does point out something true which is "high ping players anyways have to wait +200ms to hit their target". From my understanding, rollback netcoding could actually help with that issue aswell, the only issue is the plugin is named and presented as a nerf for high ping players lol
something like this for shields could be very useful if possible. High ping players have to wait around half a second after holding up their shield for it to actually work. This makes shields useless half the time as no matter your reaction speed the delay would still let the hits connect. It also prevented u from doing short shield block between crit chains as the the shield never works during the short time it's held up.
My biggest question is how this'll effect shield and util heavy gamemodes. That's my main concern. Otherwise, I instinctively only play low ping anyway so this is nice!

Kb isn't the only thing that high ping effects. It also affects how fast you can break entities after placing them such as end crystals.
