    That last game...Wow, what a ride!

  • @TwoHonest
    @TwoHonest ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I think what we’re seeing here is the opponents are playing at their highest strength because they see it’s a speedrun account, at the same time Nelson is playing below his strength because he has to commentate, watch the clock and deal with any pressure of tons of people watching him. I think this is why we’re getting more even matches, Nelson would crush these people most likely if he wasn’t streaming or had more time on the clock

  • @Sixsoul
    @Sixsoul ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Its crazy that even past 1800 people still don't use their time wisely. When I play daily chess I see this all the time too. People will make a snap move and blunder when they have 24 hours to think about it. Actually nuts. Take your time people! Just not too much time 😹

  • @TwoHonest

    Man in the first game really wanted you to take his rook at the end lmao

    I can explain why players 1000-2000 ELO will almost never accept the wing gambit. Players below 1000 will accept because they see a free pawn, and low level players don't like keeping pawns in tension. Players above 2000 will accept because they recognize the wing gambit, know that it's somewhat unsound, and are confident they can hold the advantage. Players of my level will never accept because we see that you're doing SOMETHING, but we have no idea what that is, and ultimately want no part of whatever scheme you're hatching.
    If you're going to keep trying the wing gambit, you need to study the declined lines more.
    37:44 I'm a couple hundred points lower than atoom, but I'm opposite of what you describe here. I'm a little shaky in openings, decent with midgame tactics, and strongest in the endgame.

      Well said.
      I didn't like how he started checking the player to allude to some cheating. He clearly got punished for some of his inaccuracies in this game.
      Overall, I still love how he explains his moves between in the game. It really has helped me improve

      @@boity-fromthemilkygalaxy2504I would’ve probably checked out the player too because so far it’s been extremely rare for anyone in this rating range to play as good as this player. So, I understand why Nelson checked out the player’s profile.

      @boity-fromthemilkygalaxy2504 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@specialuset8022 nah bro, people at that rating can play exceptionally well, they just not that good. And Nelson did say himself that at >2000 it gets difficult. and there's no much difference between a 2000 and 1800 player except for consistency maybe.

    31:05 Someone's gonna have to tell me why Rxb6 threatening back-rank mate doesn't work in this position... oh, the bishop.
    36:49 When I hear Nelson complimenting accuracy I touch on a regular basis, it makes me feel like I have a prayer at getting good enough at this game to get a title, even though FIDE and Ben Finegold have decided that I'm not marginalized enough to deserve extra help getting titles.

    5:55 Seeing this game for the first time as a 1000, I think the new idea is good, and that it's your compensation for the doubled isolated pawns, which you'd have to give up with Bxf3 as an Intermezzo.

    missed checkmate at 31:13 by sacrificing the rook at b6.. swing in your queen to A8 and the only piece he had to defend was the rook and you simply take and its checkmate.. the queen trade wasnt good.. even if he ignores your b6 rook and takes queen then that rook takes his rook on b8 for checkmate... cant believe i was yelling at my screen to make the move

    What did I learn today?
    1) don't play a gambit unless you know what to do in case the gambit isn't accepted.
    2) Some 17XX players are better at endgames than they are at openings. Just like me!
    3) Look out for your pieces!

    I don’t play chess at all, but Oh I love this series. Especially when Nelson attacks when he’s in a spot of bother. Can the better chess players on here tell me what is wrong if Nelson plays QC6 at 31.10, threatening back row checkmate in a couple of moves with rook or queen
    If black plays Pb5, Rxb5 and then black can’t retake with his rook on b8, he can’t move it
    If black plays Rd5,Rxb6, again black is stuck, he has to relieve the back row checkmate threat by making space for the king.
    Either way black loses a pawn and the white pawn on a2 is a real future threat

  • @the_flaming_tree_troll9380
    @the_flaming_tree_troll9380 ปีที่แล้ว

    23:05 Qb2 threatening the b6 pawn, if black moves the knight to f3 check, side step, the knight doesn't really have another follow-up. Queen wins the b6 pawn. I could be wrong, but black seems like it'd have a more threatening position

  • @iluxa-4000
    @iluxa-4000 ปีที่แล้ว

    30:27 why not knight F2?

    • @Demian_R
      @Demian_R ปีที่แล้ว

      After what? There is a pawn on f2 and the Knight can't get there easily. At that timestamp though doubling up the Rooks was best. Ne2 doesn't help if you meant that.

    • @iluxa-4000
      @iluxa-4000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Demian_RI meant E2, sorry D:

    • @Demian_R
      @Demian_R ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iluxa-4000 I don't think it improves anything, we are nearly in Zugzwang. It disconnects the Rook and Queen, attacks a Bishop but makes the King more vulnerable. There would be a queen trade at the cost of less King safety than there already is and their Rook would start gobbling up our 2nd row pawns. The Knight is playing a good defensive role and plugging a hole where it is. The real threat still isn't dealt with of Rxe5 and maybe worse after Ne2 than before with Rxe5. I think our best bet is double our Rooks and going for a counter offensive and diverting the opponents resources.

    • @iluxa-4000
      @iluxa-4000 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Demian_Roh, now I see what I missed before - after Rxe5, I thought that you could just take Qxf4, but after black queen recaptures, you take with the knight and rook is undefended

    Saw this video now, and i must say sometimes the oponents play just seems out of their rating. Tho i looked up that account and currently its not banned. I can only see like 15 games fromyesterday. So it seems they play a lot. And cant see any wrong on account. Just how fast and precise they played that endgame witout any mistakes not even innacuaracies it seems... looks to be playing at actual rating level way higher than than actual level.
    Is it possible they see they play a speedrun account and get some extra help?
    There is so much cheeting out there now, i dont have trust.
