Larry , I just read your comment and I wanted to say I have hypothyroid, I am almost 73 and I couldn’t find a doctor where I live and went about 3 mo without my meds, I had a big problem with my balance and the room would spin around and I truly thought I was dying. Before this happened I found a nurse practitioner and she did blood work and told me I didn’t need medication, and then these symptoms started. After about 3 nights of this I drove to emergency and the doctor said my thyroid was the highest she had ever seen, they thought I was ready to have a stroke, I was in the hospital 3 days. I still do not have any energy, I have gained weight and depressed.

What test did you do/ A while ago I did a test and came negative, but somebody told me to ask the doctor to do a complete test to check hypo. I wonder if the doctor did the complete test.
Before those 2 weeks did you had the symptoms more time earlier or it just appeared with not showing symptoms until you got the diagnosis?

I've actually had a blood test for this and I'm currently waiting on the results. I know that my cousin has an overactive thyroid and has had surgery for it. If I was to say which one I had then it would be hyperthyroidism.

I have sub sternal goiter and usually my hormone levels are normal. Anxiety, sensitivity to cold and bad digestion are my usual symptoms. Lugol iodine solution helps but I really want to know what is causing this.

I chosed Radio active Iodine because an operation leaves a scar and also the thyroid can grow again and you have to have another operation. I didn't need medication for about 2 years and then I saw my arms where swollen a little and it was that I needed to start medication, and it's for life.

Any type of nervousness I get is due to my anxiety problems. That and my physiological issues. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about my youngest nephew who just recently got a goiter or something like it. Apparently some kid had it and passed it onto him. Not too sure on the specifics, but at least he's getting the attention he needs to get the problem fixed.

I took the radioactive iodine when I was 19 for hyperthyroid. I am 30 now and I have a issues with my retina detached now. So you were nutrient deficient and it caused you to have hypothyroidism and Graves disease? I'm asking because I've been trying to figure out my progression which seems similar. I'm 50. Became extremely depressed after losing my kids and stopped eating and drinking. I would eat a bag of croutons every couple of days and drink nothing all day long. It caused me a nutrient deficiency. Then I had a a DVT. Then anemia. Then my hands and feet started changing colors like with Raynaud's phenomena. They thought I had lupus. Then MS. Then some thing else. I've always thought I had a thyroid problem but doctors won't listen just keep doing what they want but with no results. I just want to find something so I can stop going to the hospital for endless testing and never find anything.

a lot of your comment sounds familiar, been diagnosed with MS since 96. Modern allopathic don't know squat, just love to run tests. Hi I have M.E and suffer from depression. My body type is thyroid. I have also very little hair on the outsides of my brows.
I have had a blood test but it comes back as normal. Does this mean I definitely do not have a thyroid problem or are there other tests to take to confirm or 100% rule it out. I have often wondered if it's all down to my thyroid. Your help and advice would be gratefully appreciated.

I’m 12 years old and my mum took me to the doctors (I’m am girl) and they said that their is a very high possibility of me having hypothyroidism. I'm not sure if I have any thyroid conditions, but I do have symptoms. I have chronic fatigue and chronic infections, a bulging eye (which was diagnosed by my eye doctor), eczema flare ups (more than usual), slight chest pressure (at times), left arm numbness and joint pain, along with constantly going to the bathroom.

Well, time to get a check up
In 2008, I got hot, I could be outside in plus 10 weather in a t shirt and I still felt hot, I got pimples back again just like a teenager, I ate three times as much food in a day as before, I felt good, I could wake up at 6 am, hit the floor running and go hard all day, and all evening, till midnight lots of times. Sleep like a rock and do it again the next day, my hands would shake like an old alcoholic, my heart rate was 100 beats per minute at rest, I forget what my blood pressure was but it freaked my mom out(she had the monitor) she told me to go see the doctor. Boy am I glad I didn't take her advice. I seen our local natural path, she asked if I drank any coffee (which I lived on) she told me my thyroid was being stimulated big time and was producing way too much hormone(which was hard on the wife btw) so she said no more caffeinated drinks!! that was hard, holy smokes, but I did it, it took a month, but heart rate dropped to normal, same with blood pressure, and I would get tired at night, pimples went away, as did the shakes, everything back to normal.
I was telling a guy at work about it and he said same thing happened to him, so I asked what he did about it, he said doctor sent him to specialist where they injected him with radioactive iodine, which killed off 85% of his thyroid!!!! So now he has to take synthroid pills for the rest of his life!!!! My opinion of doctors has taken a terrible plunge.
So just to much caffeine? I recently tested for elevated thyroid and more a couple months I cant get out of bed and I'm tired all day everyday its ruining my life .

my mother is 57 years old she has T3 and T4 in normal range but her TSH thyroid stimulating hormones is 8.94 which should be in between 0.35 - 5.50 how can she make her TSH in control thanks
a TSH value of almost 9 could mean she has sub-clinical hypothyroidism; If she hasn't already, she should have antibodies anti-TPO and anti-HTG checked, to exclude Hashimoto's disease. In any case, Selenium + Myo-Inositol proved to be useful in similar cases. An endocrinologist, given other risk factors like cholesterol, could also suggest therapy with synthetic hormones.

I think this is what I have,hypothyroidism because all the signs and symptoms in this video is what I'm having I'm being tested for thyroid problems (Toxicology screen) my results will be in tomorrow I hope something comes up because I'm fed up of feeling sick & drain of body energy and change in blood pressure all the time then maybe we could go from there my thyroid my have to be removed or partially removed I don't care about having to have my thyroid removed as long as I get a chance to be healthy and feel better I'm fine with that. I had heart problems quite severe, for several years now, thought i was going to die winter 2017 and winter 2018, also heart problem led to temporary blood cloths. Im a prime care taker of young children so i got quite anxiois. Then it subseeded a bit, but resurfaced in 2021, I did go to seek care 2021, it was discovered that i have hypothyreoidism, so i got syntetic t4, now i got so much worse with my health. Sure my heart is not an issue but my gland is swollen and i cant breathe and have trouble with swallowing, feel like dying. Its horrible. For me these drugs made my situation actually worse. I live in Sweden and here we have third world medical care. Totally absent, nobody cares, just go home and rest, or die, we dont give a shit. Fucked up society.
UPDATE2023: My thyroid gland is no longer swollen, but im tired as a dead horse most of the time, and the syntethic t4 doesnt really work, but neither do syntethic t3, and neither do NDT. So basically nothing seems to work.

From my limited research, it seems that exercise, a diet that excludes gluten (read Grain Brain), and possibly adding a little more iodine salt in your meals could aid your hypothyroid troubles. Best of luck!
Why dont you remove thyroid gland if its huge and U allready take full dosage of T4?

Hypothyroid for over 15 years. Reached a stage of muscle weekness and knee/ankle hurts with 10 mins of walk. To loose weight i recently discovered Dr Reckeweg R59 homeopathy treatment. I have all the symptoms of a underactive thyroid but I'm only 16 but it runs in my family can I still get it my doctor has arranged a blood test but I'm terrified after looking at the symptoms because the only ones I don't have is the voice change and maybe heart because i know my heart beats pretty fast when I feel really bad

I had Hypothyroidism for years not diagnosed. It went 5 years or longer. Since it happened when I was a teenager it caused lots of problems. For one I lost a significant amount of my hair and it thined out over time. That was what caused me to get a blood test. I told my doctor something was wrong. Well they pull mine out and now I'm on medication for the rest of my Life. I hate it. If l knew that all l had to do is change my Diet l would've never done it.
I have elevated bp,anxiety and slight hand tremors.. my hair was also brittled and i experience slight-moderate hairfall but i think its because i shampoo my hair 3x a day lmao. I dont have weight loss,weakness,heat or cold intolerance,tachycardia etc. But i wanna know if i have it.
After suffering most of these symptoms for a great deal of my life and fighting them with benzodiazepines and only getting temporary relief from severe anxiety and other mood changes I am going to see my doctor to check out and let thyroid if it's not that I have just had enough
