I have been playing in a band for almost a year playing simple chords and some basic melody techniques, but all these tutorial videos are so easy to understand and have taken my piano skills to the next level! I've watched other piano videos but none have had such an impact on my piano skills as these ones. I'm now able to write my own music and improvise on existing melodies using arpeggio's and playing around with chord inversions. You are an excellent teacher!
Thank you 🙏 I felt as a beginner piano player, I was playing the notes but it always felt like something was missing or holding me from breaking through to my next part in the journey. This was it !
Thanks. I want to take the listener on a "journey" Conveying emotion/mood/feeling on notes at a 🎹 is an "art" one develop's. According to this video your saying to practice the pressure applied to each not...loud, soft, in between... I liken it to the "volume" on a really good stereo/sound system...my fingers are the volume...the 'typ' of pressure applied (loud or soft)is moving the volume-diel up and down
I remember before I started learning the piano, I thought to myself, "It's just memorizing what notes to play and moving your fingers around - how hard could it be?" Then I realized dynamics are the essential yet hardest part of playing the piano. Anyone could mash buttons together, but to play it with feeling - that's the thing that takes years to hone. If you're a beginner, *please buy a piano with weighted keys and can produce dynamics. And believe me when I say: most digitals do not! Really consider an upright if you can*
I have a piano and have been an amateur (or noob) for a long time(5 years). My left hand coordination is terrible & I can only play a melody for any song by ear! That's all I was able to teach myself! How do I make progress to next level of piano playing, systematically? I have one hour each day to dedicate to practice!
Thanks for the lesson! I have been following this channel for a while and subscribed. I did music classes already but I never understood it as much as i do now! Waiting to get my piano. Lol
I was also taught this: You gotta press the key all the way down to produce a nice tone. Pretend there is 10 meters under each key, and make the entire motion fluid, with no “bumps”, just one fluid motion, and when lifting off the key do the exact thing, but in reverse, have a loose wrist to serve as suspension, and only move the fingers at the joint that connects the fingers to the hand!
This is what I have been doing, I didn’t really know that was fine to do or not professionally but I look at it more like singing and dancing, I visualise either singing or dancing to the sounds am creating sometimes I don’t know if am even following the scales or modes but I know when am not hitting the correct notes then I tweak it just around to match up with rest of the musical flow😀I just love it that’s all that matters 😃 then when I watch your video it gives me go ahead sign that am doing fine😄thank you tons
Great lesson as always! Love your tutorials. I have subscribed to many tutorial channels, but following only this one! Love the practical tips and your presentation skills. Thanks a lot.
i think for the rea; begionners its best to learn what cobinations sound better than others. also push youself to use the black keys. and also try to get more skilled at using notes. go back and forth to give yourself the ability to hit the notes just get more natural with all the movements
Hi Mam.. Namaste, mam i just started following ur teaching. Will u kindly give me some basic tutorial n sheet.. I want to learn step by step.. At this moment i m unable too give ur remuneration... If there is ever a good time in my life... Surely i will respect ur help.. Thanx Mam.. Prabir ghosh.. From india.. Kolkata...
As a beginner, I find the dynamics the most annoying thing - not that I want to do them well as in this video but actually I am having a hard time pressing all the keys evenly when I want them to sound evenly. I hate that unevenness especially in the 4th and 5th finger... I hope it will be sorted out with time and practice. Do you have any tips or exercises on how to fix this? P.S. As I have said before I love your videos, Lisa. Thank you.
This is a really common problem, so don't feel bad! Yes it will get better with time and practice. And there are some good exercises you can do. This one by Cassi has a good strength exercise at 2:38 th-cam.com/video/0ZRX441jYCs/w-d-xo.html
I need some help. When I play at church every Sunday I play a lot of chords extra in the song even though when I play for singers they don’t need all of that I need a little bit of help
Hello and thank you for the tutorial, What kind of exercises would you suggest, when we want to get independence on the volume we hit notes on each hand(for instance, left hand soft playing and right hand loud) I find it really hard to be consistent, because i practice on a midi keyboard and all is kind of okay when i play there but the moment i find a real piano,i screw up the velocities. If you have covered this already i apologize
Wow that's a really great question!!! It can be hard to practice dynamics on a MIDI keyboard, I'm not going to lie. This skill can be difficult even on a fully weighted piano. We don't have a video on that - but it's a great idea for one. In the meantime, I would practice the exercises we've covered here, but try and pay different volumes with your left and right hand. It is definitely a more advanced skill, so it might take a while to get.
@@PianoteOfficial Alright,i will incorporate these exercises and try different volumes while i await for a video specifically on the subject. Thank you!
Oh that's tough. It depends on your budget, but something with touch sensitivity and at least 61-keys is definitely a must. We have a video with some tips here: th-cam.com/video/l_hI0_8pbLU/w-d-xo.html&
Question, im a begginer and i think my piano tpuch is different from other pianists, is it because im a begginer? And there are some times where i dont use other fingers like just some specific parts of my hands, its so weird.
The principle is the same -- it's all about pressure. But it is much harder to control it on a keyboard, because they are generally less sensitive than an acoustic (or even digital) piano.
Huh. It's like I knew this but didn't know how to get better at it. Thanks for tht tips! Now I just need to buy a piano that will actually respond to different pressure. The yamaha I have does respond, but it doesn't accurately reflect pressure to the degree I'd prefer. Everything is crammed between "almost loud" and "annoyingly loud". :/ (even the audio file attached to the keys is obnoxious)
Nope! That’s where we all start, and where I start with every new piece.... How’s it going now, GreenCow? Can you play some things with your hands together?

"Play from low volume to loud"

"use ur left hand to hold the volume lever"
