Good breakdown, here's what I saw in the 3 games 1) Agree, offense stalls due to indecisiveness, so forced to bad shot or turnover. Most of his 3 are rushed, off balanced or forced. When he can set properly kita naman natin kaya ni JC. I think they should used a warriors playbook, pag drive and kick, relocate JC then pasa balik sa kanya. Yes di na utilise yung gravity ni JC. Kai again mas better as help defender yet ginagamit as primary kaya he giving wide open 3. 4) know when to call timeout. Yung kalaban natin konting momentum lang timeout to take out the crowd. Overall good performance from Gilas to. Our previous games against Italy we were getting blown out by about 40 and 50. Now only lose by 7. I think that’s good progress. I think on the cusp tayo from being truly elite when it comes to the world.

Yes malakas ang Team Canada ngayon pero matagal nilang binuo yung team na yan more than 10yrs. ago. Itong current team ang trinabaho nila defense and chemistry. Kahit na nanalo sila depensa parin kasi alam nila malayo pa and Canada sa pagiging champion. Yung coaching staff interview process yan. The coach of Team PHI sort of turned this team into that Sixers team led by AI that lost to Shaq's Lakers in the NBA Finals. PHI coach made Clarkson his team's version of AI. Offense almost always depended on Clarkson (AI) attacking and then adjusting to what the defense restricts him to do. Then the other 4 players instinctively react to what happens to Clarkson (AI). Watch highlights of that Lakers-Sixers finals, Clarkson here in the FIBA World Cup played so much like Iverson in that NBA Finals.
It's because those Sixers teams are inept in offence. Watch when AI is not playing, there's nothing going on in their offence. The Sixers was full of defenders, which is why AI is their only offensive lynchpin, whereas Gilas have a lot of offensive weapons that were just under-utilized or mishandled. There's a huge difference. You're saying it as if that Coach Larry Brown is the same as Chot Reyes. The difference is Coach Brown doesn't really have much of a choice, whereas Choke Reyes have a loooot of options. What those Sixers team lacked was a non-ball dominant scorer - a complementary piece. Im pretty much numb at this point, i had very low expectations coming into this world cup, but chot and sbp still managed to surprise me with their incompetence. I don't get the hate on JC. He did what was humanly possible. Gayunpaman, hindi rin pwedeng siya ang tanging playmaker dahil magiging predictable Gilas at ganun na nga ang nangyari. Isa pang napansin ko, on defense kailangan tingin ka sa bantay mo, outdated na ang zone as marami nang perimeter shooters. Most of the time nakatingin ang players sa bola. Pwede naman Yun but not at the expense of losing track of your man. Other than that, pristine breakdown!

Pero hindi lang naman sa coach yan eh, ang isang best factor jan kung bakit nanalo sila dahil kabisado na nila ang mga plays nila at ang chemistry nila sa team nila sobrang solid, kasi matagal ang preperation nila di tulad satin. Its safe to say that PH Basketball needs an overhaul pero problema kasi pulitika ang nangyayari. We need better competition not just kapag FIBA pati nadin sa local leagues. From coaching, we need international coaches to get into the local leagues para magkaroon ng competition sa mga local coaches na puro iso and dribble drive offense. We need more foreign players para masanay din ang mga players makipag laro sa mga more athletic and agile players like what KBL and B.League are doing right now. We may be the best noon pero naiwanan na tayo ng panahon and takot mga heads ng ph basketball ng change which shows sa mga statement nila on players going overseas, tab gilas issue etc. Nakakaumay din sumuporta na palaging talo and halatang ayaw magbago.

Honestly, I knew going into the World Cup this Gilas “team” wouldn’t be able to win a single game the way they performed in their preparation games. I was right. Imagine working so hard to obtain the qualifying spot for the World Cup, to then just repeat a sad and depressing winless run.

4:39 Pretty much sums up why Gilas is still winless. Because this type of systems the team is playing is not sustainable in a long run especially in the World stage where now countries have different approach and perspective on how they play the game of basketball from different cultures, skills, genetics, and talents. The players are fine but the system they are playing is not. Talent and skill is there but the system they are running can't adopt. Because I think in my observation the system they are playing is fixed there is no sense of urgency to fix and adopt. Once the other countries figured it out we cant counter and pretty much game over. Especially when it comes to crunch times where making basketball being played like a chess match now to the point that the players can't now rely on their skills and talents anymore but how good is the system can use their talent and skills of the players. Cause some games thinking we actually might comeback but its now too late and the other countries already made adjustments. Maybe its Chot Reyes fault, maybe the coaching staffs fault, maybe the way they picked the players doesn't fit the system, or maybe there this is more deeper than this behind closed curtains and closed doors. I guess another loss. another learning experience. rinse. repeat.
In short Chot's system plays didn't work in all those 3 games. Laging stagnant yun offense, tapos wala pa sa timing and madalas pag di nagwork yun play na uuwi sa ISO.

Its not just the coach's fault but also the PBA for staying stagnant and its playing style still feels like the late 90's to 2005 ish. Stagnant in a sense that it has only 12 teams it is suppose to be at least 20 teams right now, it is a huge reason young talents are playing outside the country.

Good breakdown, here's what I saw in the 3 games
1) Agree, offense stalls due to indecisiveness, so forced to bad shot or turnover. The defense in international basketball adjust so fast na pag nahinto ka wala na yung micro advantages. Tingin ko dahil kulang sa practice kaya ganun.
2) 3 point shooting, so poor tayo. Multiple times even when JC can drive and kick to open man, madalas wala. Sayang lang. Double damage rin ito kasi if you are JC na drive and kick tapos miss, it just makes you to iso more.
3) knowing your players. Like scottie, not a natural pg, yes he can pass but in this world cup mas nakita natin yung pg skills ni keifer of better reading the defense. JC isn't a pg as well, yes he can pass but scorer mentality sya. And he's supposedly our best 3 pointer as well. The number of things he has to do was too much for him. Most of his 3 are rushed, off balanced or forced. When he can set properly kita naman natin kaya ni JC. I think they should used a warriors playbook, pag drive and kick, relocate JC then pasa balik sa kanya. Yes di na utilise yung gravity ni JC. Kai again mas better as help defender yet ginagamit as primary kaya he giving wide open 3.
4) know when to call timeout. Yung kalaban natin konting momentum lang timeout to take out the crowd. Tayo on crucial possession, we don't even try to set up a good play. I don't get why
5) Agree again on play sets. It seems na gagawin lang natin sila on a few possessions then later on bahala na basketball.

I’m Filipino-Canadian, I follow both Canada and Phils. Magkaiba ang resulta kasi magkaiba din ang programa. Yes malakas ang Team Canada ngayon pero matagal nilang binuo yung team na yan more than 10yrs. ago. Itong current team ang trinabaho nila defense and chemistry. Kahit na nanalo sila depensa parin kasi alam nila malayo pa and Canada sa pagiging champion. Yung coaching staff interview process yan. Everyone in the organization is on the same page and sold on the idea that we have to work hard to get to the goal. Not just to participate but to find a way to win and as a team.

The coach of Team PHI sort of turned this team into that Sixers team led by AI that lost to Shaq's Lakers in the NBA Finals. PHI coach made Clarkson his team's version of AI. Offense almost always depended on Clarkson (AI) attacking and then adjusting to what the defense restricts him to do. Then the other 4 players instinctively react to what happens to Clarkson (AI). Watch highlights of that Lakers-Sixers finals, Clarkson here in the FIBA World Cup played so much like Iverson in that NBA Finals.
It's because those Sixers teams are inept in offence. Watch when AI is not playing, there's nothing going on in their offence. The Sixers was full of defenders, which is why AI is their only offensive lynchpin, whereas Gilas have a lot of offensive weapons that were just under-utilized or mishandled.
There's a huge difference. You're saying it as if that Coach Larry Brown is the same as Chot Reyes. The difference is Coach Brown doesn't really have much of a choice, whereas Choke Reyes have a loooot of options.
What those Sixers team lacked was a non-ball dominant scorer - a complementary piece.

Yung coach ng Latvia ganung coach kelangan natin yung nakafocus sa ball movement at walang Isolation.. Activate nadin sila Heading, Wright, Tamayo, Baltazar, Abbarientos at Belanguel sa Gilas

Im pretty much numb at this point, i had very low expectations coming into this world cup, but chot and sbp still managed to surprise me with their incompetence. I had so much hope 4 years ago when i saw what coach Tab was building, he had the vision, the drive, and the passion to take us to the next level, but sadly here we are now...

I don't get the hate on JC. He did what was humanly possible. Gayunpaman, hindi rin pwedeng siya ang tanging playmaker dahil magiging predictable Gilas at ganun na nga ang nangyari. Isa pang napansin ko, on defense kailangan tingin ka sa bantay mo, outdated na ang zone as marami nang perimeter shooters. Most of the time nakatingin ang players sa bola. Pwede naman Yun but not at the expense of losing track of your man. Other than that, pristine breakdown!
No one is hating on JC but I can see JC losing interest playing for Gilas if we continue to lose. I think JC genuine love for PH is authentic. We need start winning because no one wants join losing team not even in the playground. Lets do this... Gilas !

Natalo na tayo ng Italy before. Kung nag improve tayo ngayon for sure nag improve din ang Italy.. hindi naman pueding mag improved ang Gilas at ang Italy ay stagnant. Yes I agree good coaching sa Italy. Pero hindi lang naman sa coach yan eh, ang isang best factor jan kung bakit nanalo sila dahil kabisado na nila ang mga plays nila at ang chemistry nila sa team nila sobrang solid, kasi matagal ang preperation nila di tulad satin. Kailangan pa natin talaga ng almost 6 months to perpare. almost 2months lang ata ang preperations natin so sad dba. Pero ang maganda naman kaya nanatin kahit papano sumabay tsaka hindi naman tayo natambakan. Kung ang pag palit ng coach ang solusyon para manalo tayo? sa tingin ko hindi rin. Every coach may kanya kanyang systema din yan. Ganun talaga ang BAsketball may nananalo may natatalo. Tigilan na ang hatakan pababa, talo na nga tayo pinakita pa natin na suko na tayo. Sa pag Boo! pa lang sa coach natin sobrang nakakahiya ang ginawa ng mga yun.

Its safe to say that PH Basketball needs an overhaul pero problema kasi pulitika ang nangyayari. We need better competition not just kapag FIBA pati nadin sa local leagues. From coaching, we need international coaches to get into the local leagues para magkaroon ng competition sa mga local coaches na puro iso and dribble drive offense. We need more foreign players para masanay din ang mga players makipag laro sa mga more athletic and agile players like what KBL and B.League are doing right now.
We may be the best noon pero naiwanan na tayo ng panahon and takot mga heads ng ph basketball ng change which shows sa mga statement nila on players going overseas, tab gilas issue etc.

Stop overrateing gilas talent. First of all oo si coach palitan na pero yung snasabe nyo na malakas yung gilas talent is flat out false. Even FIBA channel said na yung talent lang naten talaga is JC. Why do they say wala tayong individual talent? Maliliit tayo na di makashoot, simple lang basketball ngayon, you need to make open shots and wala sa players naten consistent shooter. Kalaban naten malalaki na nakakashoot and that's it, hustle sa rebounds and boards sakto lang tayo pero nawawala talaga pag dating sa shooting. Sino ba shooter nten? Si pogoy? masyado maliit and di ganon ka consistent. Si abando may chansa pa pero every other player on our team can't shoot. Kaya nga japan nanalo kasi puro shooters 5'9 below players nila.

i think kung ganito man nila gamitin si clarkson.. 5 out offense na lang sana.. malakas drive si clarkson problema.. marami nakatambay na gilas sa loob like junemar.. im not saying na mahina si junemar pero i think di compatible si junemar kay clarkson..look at luka doncic..and mavs.. 1 man team na ka design ung gilas same sa mavs.. so kinopya na lang sana nila ang mavs.. 5 out offense.. para maging 1 on 1 talaga.. ung spacing kasi nila pang 90s bball so little for clarkson to operate. kung may help defense kick 3 points agad.. mas may sense ung ganun kesa strategy coach chot.. weakness lang nun is mga big natin walang tres.. pero ill take it.. kung gusto talaga nila imaximize si clarkson..

Honestly, I knew going into the World Cup this Gilas “team” wouldn’t be able to win a single game the way they performed in their preparation games. I was right. Imagine working so hard to obtain the qualifying spot for the World Cup, to then just repeat a sad and depressing winless run.

Because this type of systems the team is playing is not sustainable in a long run especially in the World stage where now countries have different approach and perspective on how they play the game of basketball from different cultures, skills, genetics, and talents.
The players are fine but the system they are playing is not.
Talent and skill is there but the system they are running can't adopt. Because I think in my observation the system they are playing is fixed there is no sense of urgency to fix and adopt. Once the other countries figured it out we cant counter and pretty much game over.
Especially when it comes to crunch times where making basketball being played like a chess match now to the point that the players can't now rely on their skills and talents anymore but how good is the system can use their talent and skills of the players.
Cause some games thinking we actually might comeback but its now too late and the other countries already made adjustments.
Maybe its Chot Reyes fault, maybe the coaching staffs fault, maybe the way they picked the players doesn't fit the system, or maybe there this is more deeper than this behind closed curtains and closed doors.
I guess another loss.

In short Chot's system plays didn't work in all those 3 games. Laging stagnant yun offense, tapos wala pa sa timing and madalas pag di nagwork yun play na uuwi sa ISO.

yun din napansin ko parang pag nagseset ng play parang ang bagal compared sa ibang teams na sobrang sync talaga. yung galaw nila alam mong pinraktis nila ng matagal ung play at alam nila gagawin pagkahawak na pagkahawak pa lang ng bola, alam agad nila kung saan ung position ng mga teammates nila, sa atin parang hinahanap pa pagkahawak ng bola tapos mapepressure sa defense tapos natuturnover.

Yung indecisiveness ng Gilas affects them both on offense and defense. Dahil sa indecisiveness, natigil ang opensa. At dahil wala silang decisiveness, hindi na din nila alam kung paano babantayan.
