Ha, i just got a older murray today off craigslist for 35$ bucks, spent bout 20 on oil, gas filter, sparkplug, carb cleaner so about 50 bucks which is what he was originally asking but i lowered him to 35, we got it running within 20 minutes and now it runs like a champ
I have a 1992 Yard King as well. My friend gave it to me for free. Parts were actually easier to find than I expected. It's similar to the one you guys have but the shifter is on the right fender instead of in the middle. I just got it running and driving today for the first time in 7 years. It runs rough but needs a good cleaning and carb adjusting.
Lmfao at the end of the video! I had the same exact engine in my mower. For 12 horse those things never run out of power. The carb you put on is the one that's supposed to be on there.
@Khhsindian2011 its called an adjustable main, you should be able to find one at a small engine repair shop... Maybe ebay, make sure you get the little gasket with it.
I just started working on a 17 IC HP MTD "Shift on the Go". Took it out for a little test run to make sure everything worked properly. So next I'll be getting a proper gas pedal hooked up and switching out a pulley.
i have two of those, and you're right, that wasn't the right carb.lol the one ya have now is though. good buy. by the way! wish it was me. great vid. guys
I'm thinking a drag strip style machine with wheelie bars, 600 cc motorcycle or snowmobile engine, with some sick ass wide tires in the rear, thin drag tires in the front, parachute out the back, just a thought lol. Have a Happy New Year. Stay safe.
yeah the carb that you took off was what looked like a Briggs OHV I/C carb kinda. Like the one on my '95 Briggs 14.5hp OHV. BTW do you want that engine? I'm gonna replace it with a flathead briggs.
Hey good to see a new vids looking for up date on you mower is bad ass if you friend re dose that one it b cool to well happy new year bro keep the vids going
Never try starting it for that long or the starter will burn out. Only hold it for 5 second cycles. That is the right carb that you put on, the old one looked like it was off of a push mower! haha Great video as always. Love the old start cold start (:
If it was a 92 then that was the right carb, they started those two piece carbs back in 91 or 92. It took a air cleaner assy that have the PCV valve down at the bottom, Not like your more where it goes up by the top where the air filter is. Hope this helps you out.. Frigging rights I love your vid's
looks kinda like the yard machines i picked up a while ago for $25. i ended up scrapping that tractor since it needed alot more money than i wanted to put into it. good news though when i scrapped it, i got $26 for the metal, and i sold the engine off it (18.5hp briggs opposed twin) for $75
I bought a 14.5hp mower with a seized engine for $40. Took it apart and it was only stuck because rust built up around the piston ring and cylinder wall. I cleaned it out, put it back together, and it started right up.
@PainlessVW I'm rebuild the engine. port and polish everything and have the head machined. I intend to turn that 12hp into the 17hp seems brigs use the same block for both engines.
i know this guy here in town and his whole house yard back yard the trucks on his lawn GUESS WHAT FULL OF LAWN MOWERS you guys would be the best of friends.. lol
hey fearlessfroont before you paint it I was thinking you should put some nice fenders on it so you dont get mud flying up at you and it would look cool tooo
Nice job there, im looking around for a yard tractor but they arent as easy to find in the uk, people want too much money for em! but as always, im enjoyin the channel! And happy new year too :)
Hey Todd, I'd like to ask for your advice. I'm replacing the the Drive Deck Pulley with the original Drive Pulley. The Manufacture heated and pressed the pulleys on the shaft and then wick welded the pulleys to the shaft.I can't seem to get the pulleys off without ruining my pulleys(Already tested with a different shaft and pulleys). I've heated the pulley and grind the welds off then hammered the pulleys off the shaft.. Anyways I like your ideas and you seem to know what you're doing. :)
hey clean up the magents on the flywheel and inspect the keyway on the flywheel for damage. then pop the head off and scrape the carbon off ;) it will run like a champ!
it has a 5 speed manual with 1 speed reverse. needs a clutch spring and four tires.(from what i can see thay are basically rotted out) He is asking 150 but i would hopefully talk him down on price.
it could be any number of things... the key-switch can go bad, the solenoid can go bad, mice will chew through safety switch wires/... Things like that. Go through it little by little to figure out what doesn't work. If all else fails, just unplug the coil "kill lead" from the circuit, and jump power directly to the starter. then it should run.
@Muhammad Khan, fist do you have spark, if so, your carburetor might be very clogged. Make sure u have a new spark plug, air filter, carb is cleaned. Make sure u have enough compression.
Just buy a battery charger and set it to 200amp START and attach the black one to the pipe or whatever, and the bolt that starts the engine Just like what ur doing
hey fearless what branch of service was your buddy in?? I hope that he is retired from the service. Especially if he served in a war situation. I was in the marine corps thats why I asked.
I have been given two free mowers not sure when I can get them home tried a few weekends then stuff pops up. One is a 90's model by MTD Yardman 20 HP Vtwin briggs hydro 46 inch not been started in probably a good 10-12 years. I am getting another unknown branded mower not seen it yet all I know its supposed to be black. It is supposed to run just needs a drive belt.
hey fearless, ive decided to try an off road lawn mower build. ( which i have neverdone before). I found a late 80s yardman 11 horse with a briggs engine that doesnt run. I looked at it and it is not seized and will turn over. Do you think it would be a good buy?
my grandpa has a mower like that except his has a more square shaped hood what kind would it be? the started also has a gear that is stripped where could i get a gear or a new starter? i much rather get a new starter since it looks almost brand new.
hey fearless that pvc pipe that goes into the carb.. what is it? because im taking apart a murray lawn tractor and it had the same going into the air box but i had no idea what it was
I actually jsut bought a mower almost the same as this one(diffrent front end) but everything is the same. the carb is the same as on mine. lol I cant get mine to stay running though its in really good shape.
Got a 10HP TVM220 Tecumseh I'm trying to get running, seems like its pouring gas into the motor from the carb, sometimes comes out of the exhaust a little, any ideas what I should check? Thanks H

lolz at 11 o'clock in the afternoon. Great vid. hope to see more of this tractor.
"ITS ALIVE " lol u guys look like 2 kids that r best pals building something out of legos, u two r a great team
Haha so not only did you amazingly get it to run... you got a cold start!!nWell done my friend
the carb you took off of it looks like a honda carb. Sweet deal, cant wait to see er goin!
That style carb is original to the engine. I believe the crankcase breather tube attached to the air cleaner. Should be a fun project!!
Lmfao at the end of the video! I had the same exact engine in my mower. For 12 horse those things never run out of power. The carb you put on is the one that's supposed to be on there.

haha I like the extra scenes, I found a mouse dead in its nest when I was trying to get my craftsman mudder running lol
If mud ain't flyin' you ain't tryin!
try dat
Yup
I just started working on a 17 IC HP MTD "Shift on the Go". Took it out for a little test run to make sure everything worked properly. So next I'll be getting a proper gas pedal hooked up and switching out a pulley.
great cant wait to follow this one its a new version of mine

How are you doing?
Lmao, i thought you were getting the poor mans fire extinguisher...
If it was a 92 then that was the right carb, they started those two piece carbs back in 91 or 92. @PainlessVW I'm rebuild the engine. port and polish everything and have the head machined. I intend to turn that 12hp into the 17hp seems brigs use the same block for both engines.
wow good job bud
sweet man, I would re wire it asap. I have a video on the process. search my channel
kool video!!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!!
we put the ground ont the motor somewhere.. (on bare metal) then touch the + to the terminal on the starter.
i got one identical to that today for $25! HELL YEA!!
hey you mite want to take the racing lawn mower for a run and see if everything works ok before painting it. Cant wait for the up date this weekend
doesn't "have" to be, but it helps evacuate fuel vapor from the crankcase. so I would try to keep it connected
i know this guy here in town and his whole house yard back yard the trucks on his lawn GUESS WHAT FULL OF LAWN MOWERS you guys would be the best of friends.. lol
The pcv for that carburetor is actually on the air filter but I guess that craftsman carb will work also
hey fearlessfroont before you paint it I was thinking you should put some nice fenders on it so you dont get mud flying up at you and it would look cool tooo
New project I m working on, like to see if u are interested in,, propane run riding mower, yes propane
joe b that will be awsome
+joe b A lot of commercial zero turn riders run on propane
thanks for the all the info
Nice job there, im looking around for a yard tractor but they arent as easy to find in the uk, people want too much money for em! but as always, im enjoyin the channel! And happy new year too :)
happy new year
I dont know for sure, you'd have to look up and ask the guy who's building it. his yt name is streetlegalkarts
Hey Todd, I'd like to ask for your advice. I'm replacing the the Drive Deck Pulley with the original Drive Pulley. @MowMachineBuilds Hell Yeah.
That carburetor that was on there is for a Over Head Valve engine
Is this the mower that became the mud king?
really?
Yes
No shit idiot
hey clean up the magents on the flywheel and inspect the keyway on the flywheel for damage. then pop the head off and scrape the carbon off ;) it will run like a champ!
it has a 5 speed manual with 1 speed reverse. needs a clutch spring and four tires.(from what i can see thay are basically rotted out) He is asking 150 but i would hopefully talk him down on price.
Hot water and sugar soap makes a good carburettor cleaner :)
i have a mower exactly like that. im planning on changing the pulleys and making it go fast
@MrDtpdtp All we did was spray the B-12 Chem Tool in the carb.
haha, I didn't want to catch a piston in the dink!
Could you do a video on how to clean a carb. I picked up a 1980 something craftsman riding lawn mower.
yeah, you can pulley swap it. you have the mtd vari-drive by the sound of it.
@SuperKONR I believe it is a Marlboro carb,
it could be any number of things... the key-switch can go bad, the solenoid can go bad, mice will chew through safety switch wires/...
@MrDtpdtp NO. and thats not what it used for, but it highly flammable.
thanks for the reply man i cant find them carbs much around here there pretty expensive online lol my murray needs a new one but thanks man
Just buy a battery charger and set it to 200amp START and attach the black one to the pipe or whatever, and the bolt that starts the engine
Just like what ur doing
@MrDtpdtp Well starter fluid is the correct answer. but alot of things would work. if you have never done it before be very very carefull!!!!
lmao.... "look at that shit folks" funny!!!
Turn on the closed caption. that is funny as hell!
hey fearless
what branch of service was your buddy in?? I hope that he is retired from the service. Especially if he served in a war situation. I was in the marine corps thats why I asked.
James Maroon thank you for serving
@64gravely Thank you.

either the key switch, or the solenoid
the carb you ended up putting on is right assuming my carb is right bc i have the same engine
hey fearless what did you ever do with those two other craftsmans
+fearlessfront do you have the model number for the craftsman style carb?
aslong as you/he uses the jeep the alternator will keep the battery fully charged.
hey fearless, ive decided to try an off road lawn mower build. ( which i have neverdone before). I found a late 80s yardman 11 horse with a briggs engine that doesnt run. I looked at it and it is not seized and will turn over. Do you think it would be a good buy?
@TheElgorr Thanks, ya the power thing was weird but what ever. I have a lot of stuff planned before I get done. thanks for watching!
Nice vid! I have the dame mower but it won't start, I have power to the headlights but no joy in the starter. Any thoughts?
@streetlegalkarts lol! YES!
hey fearless do you have another one of them carbs ? plz let me know it would be much appriciated (: thanks
I have a silver craftsman that has that same moter and looks exactly like that except its silver and beaten to heck still runs though
my grandpa has a mower like that except his has a more square shaped hood what kind would it be? the started also has a gear that is stripped where could i get a gear or a new starter? i much rather get a new starter since it looks almost brand new.
@V8Mike93 I'm going to have all that done, all in time.
if its 12.5hp the carb u took off the yard king was the ariganol
not really, but it is flammable, so it got it firing
@TheCarlover97 briggs motor? they are tough little buggers!
@ShawnCFarm ohh I plan on it.
It's came a long way sense then
do you ever wear out your jeeps battery jumping off mowers
hey fearless that pvc pipe that goes into the carb.. what is it? because im taking apart a murray lawn tractor and it had the same going into the air box but i had no idea what it was
one of them mows my fathers lawn now, and the other was stripped for parts and the frame was scrapped
I actually jsut bought a mower almost the same as this one(diffrent front end) but everything is the same. the carb is the same as on mine. lol I cant get mine to stay running though its in really good shape.
it would depend on the price, and the condition of it. if it has a hydro trans, I would pass on it
@TheGreasemonkey34 That really cool.
nice find for 40
Are you going to sell the craftsman crawler
Has me wander, did someone mix match parts on this mower?
Got a 10HP TVM220 Tecumseh I'm trying to get running, seems like its pouring gas into the motor from the carb, sometimes comes out of the exhaust a little, any ideas what I should check? Thanks H
@fearlessfront do u know if just a regular bolt would work on it
A long time ago good gas use to be orange.
@scanneron670 if you not on the edge, you taking up to much space.
@jackduup Thanks
