Vortex had to be drunk as hell that day, he doesn’t sound like himself at all. I watched him play with Borknagar and he sounded 10 times better than this.
Having watched the whole set, I loved the band's performance... except Vortex's. It's like he was drunk -- constantly out of time, out of tune, missing parts, chiming in too soon, etc. This was not a satisfying performance at all. It did not live up at all to the band's performance on the albums. If he wasn't so irreplaceable as a vocalist, I'd say the band should fire him. He apparently doesn't take live shows very seriously.
I totally agree. I love Arcturus and Hestnaes, but it seems like he gave up. I seriously felt like it's over for them after this show. And it's been getting worse and worse each time I see them live. I wonder how Borknagar manages to keep him in shape when they're touring as he seems to be much more professional when he's with them.
That gets me thinking. Do you think they would ever want a female singer? As long as they can match Arcturus's style i think that might make for a rather interesting change.
