@@groans4u419 Hey this is a VERY late reply but join OPTRE's Discord server there you'll find many groups that play with this mod :) hope this helps or you've figured it out on your own.
Krynictrace there’s single player missions you can do with ai enemies but the butter is coordinating an entire server to tackle missions this mod has inspired me to purchase all the dlc now lol

It is not dead. Also This looks like the story before the Covenant/Aliens attacked the Humans. The story goes were most of the colonies wanted independent from Earth for a lot of reasons and Earth would not give it up. So the colonies build up their own professional military, as well as the civilians armed them self's making militias to fight against Earth. Some Colonies became pretty Fash as well. And yes this is all canon.

Operation Trebuchet was the last major offensive against Colonial Militia insurgents by the UNSC before the contact with the Covenant. Than-Sergeant Avery Johnson ( 1:07 ) took a major role in it as well.

This is just a better experience than Halo infinite to me personally. Tbf, I think I just outgrew modern Halo, and modern Halo probably doesn't appeal to many people either.

Holy shit. I used this mod a LONG time ago, back when there were only marines, ODSTs, and a few vehicles. I am beyond impressed with how far y'all have come. I am reinstalling Arma to try this out.

@@skatetrooper5285 the outer colonies wanted to be independent. The core worlds within the solar system and a few others did not. This is why the covenant had such an easy time destroying outer colony planets. The Orion II program was created by Halsey and ONI as a response to the insurrection. In 2525 Harvest was attacked by the Covenant beginning the Human Covenant War. In some cases, Innies and UNSC forces fought together to defeat the Covenant. After 2552 and the end of the HCW, there werent many Insurrectionist planets remaining

4 years later and this mod and Arma 3 are even better than before. They've added so much to OPTRE and FC it deserves a new trailer.
I don't play ARMA and have no idea why youtube recommended this to but, but after watching am very impressed. Comparing this to what microsoft is doing with halo these days really shows the value of passion and respect for something. A four minute trailer for a mod of a completely different game felt more halo than halo 4 or 5, good job.

I agree that a catapult would have been silly, but you must remember that the trebuchet is the superior siege weapon. It can launch a 90kg projectile over 300 meters.

This mod and the 40k mod and the 2 best sci-fi mods this one has more progress and love where the 40k is slow and broken apart due to devs

Before joining the OFP community in 2000 and Bohemia in the next years, I was very actively following Halo. This was before it became a Xbox game. It looked much closer to what OFP later became and what's seen in this epic trailer (tactical combined arms combat on PC / Mac). Then I noticed a OFP preview in a magazine, and the rest is history. Thanks for bringing things full Halo! o7

Just recently got Arma 3 and as a old Halo fan who hasn't owned an Xbox in a while, this mod is definitely something I'm looking forward to playing. And kudos to the trailer's creator for showing it off so effectively. Downright beautiful I'd say. Happy New Year.

@@thies2142 But they kept the multiplayer limited to just Firefight to keep focus on the story, which IMO is a gem of the halo series. The idea of being a man (not a spartan) trying to win a battle in a losing war. It was some good shit... Forgive me for being brash, I took it as just another hype fueled comment with little thought put into it. I do see that being a cool idea, I personally would've wished to see Halo Wars come out more like this demo. As much as I enjoy an RTS halo, I think a Halo/Battlefield hybrid would have sold much better.
Robert Biggart I 100% agree the focus should be on the story on the ODST campaigns, especially putting you in that vibe of being in the shoes of another human fighting against all odds (rather then a walking space tank) from the stealth- squad aspects I felt ODST did pretty good, the multiplayer wasn’t bad but something like this where it’s large scale marines/ODST/ Covenant fights like Battlefeild or Arma would be a breath of fresh air, and hate to say the words but an ODST styles BR with drop pods and other halo centric things could even be amazing.

Whats the game play like? Does it play like halo does but with arma's strengths? Or does it play like arma with a halo flavoring?
@@curtisbrown547 It definitely plays like Arma with Halo added onto it. But the weapons, armor, vehicles etc separate it from being just Arma.
@@Realpopcornchicken so as someone who has played 0 arma and a ton of halo would I basically just suck? or is enough there that I could be familiar with? From what I've heard arma has a incredibly steep learning curve..
@@curtisbrown547 Yeah it kind of does. The only thing I really had troubles with was learning to fly. Other stuff like U.I might seem confusing, and the game will feel like it uses every single key (which it kind of does). Since Arma has more realistic combat (bullet travel, stamina, etc) it may be hard to transfer from Halo.

@Hatwox Op:TRE was best represented in Harvest, though Harvest is mainly about first contact with the Covenant. With Op:TRE being the operation immediately preceding first contact, it gets some light in that book.
Most lore on the UNSC's fight with Insurrectionists is spread out throughout multiple mediums. One of my favorites, however, is the movie Forward Unto Dawn, which depicts first Covenant contact at a UNSC Military Academy. Pretty sick

this was a good trailer but it’s based upon Arma 3 which is extremely janky (and you can definitely tell in the trailer that it’s still janky) and so, even though 343 has butchered the story, at least they have a fully functioning game (that can keep 60fps, which Arma 3, especially with this big of a mod, simply cannot). no hate towards operation: trebuchet, they’re doing fantastic things, but comparing a fan-made mod to games made by a multi-million dollar company is absurd. i’m sure if they expanded their team and managed to get someone to make them an actual game (instead of having to work with Arma 3 as a base) they could 100% make a better game than 343.

For all the people stating that they want to try the game out, go to the r/operationtrebuchet subreddit and find a unit!
Most are always recruiting, and the communities are almost all friendly and inviting of newer players. Having done joint operations with almost all of them I can personally say that this is one of the best multiplayer communities i have had the pleasure to be a part of.
