So accurate and so true. As a plus size woman all the measurements are extremely helpful because I will compare to my favorite pieces. 😊💕 it was great to see how you did your keywords in the listing, never thought of doing it that way, definitely a technique I need to try. Thank you
This was so so SO helpful. I am not plus sized and am really trying to be more inclusive with my sizing on my depop and IG shop. I really appreciate you making this and look forward to future videos on this topic. Thank you!
Well done! Great info - as a plus size pear shape measurements are so important to me! I wear a lot of separates and pear shapes tend to wear different sizes between tops and bottoms.
Love this video! Even being someone on the cusp of plus size I learned something :) I'm always searching for plus size vintage because I want it for myself first and foremost haha. It definitely is harder to find and I appreciate when people don't price it crazy. I price mine the same as I'd price my straight sizes.
I definitely gravitate towards listing plus size vintage in our Etsy. Darn, it's hard to find any earlier than the 1980's-1990's. OMG your denim embroidered jacket is the dream!!
Aww thanks, it's by Driftwood - my favorite denim brand that isn't vintage ;) - I agree it can be tricky to find the older items but they are out there...just not the same abundance. Honestly I don't find too much of anything pre 1970s in the wild these days.
Smart to put the size first in the listing. Made me realize I write everything apparent from looking at the picture first and put the size at the end where it will be cut off. Plus size sells so much faster for me. I am going to try and exercise some discipline to only pick it up and no straight size stuff. I do have a hard time telling size from just looking at it and am not so disciplined.
I'm wishing you luck! I've been selling all my plus stuff like hot cakes across every platform but mostly Etsy. I did a few only-plus sourcing trips and it really helped.
I’m older (late 40s) and was shocked you said fat. I’ve never heard that as being empowering or positive. Body size is irrelevant to a persons value but I see “fat” as a negative word. Still love your channel and you are so helpful. It just shocked me.
Thank you for your feedback! There is a movement to reclaim a lot of language around being fat as fact and nothing to be ashamed of. It certainly takes some growing used to, but words are only what we make them. That is part of why I put the disclaimer into my videos and I appreciating you taking the time to give your perspective!
One thing that is helpful for me is hip measurements on tops like tunics & longer blouses. I’m basically straight size on top, but plus on bottom so that can be a challenge as well.
Plus size mannequins are a great tool to help with that, but they are a big investment. Until I can get one this is what I do: I style the garment on my straight size mannequin in a flattering way (I do this for all sizes of clothing, not just plus), which may include rolling up sleeve cuffs, tying a shirt waist, adding a belt to a dress, etc. But then I always include photos of the garment (from front, back and side) unstyled and just hanging on the dress form naturally. For bottoms like pants and skirt, I may need to pin them in order for them to even stay on the form, but I include a photo of it unpinned and I hook my finger through the waistband and hold it out to its full (not overstretched) size so a buyer can tell how much bigger the actual waist is than the mannequin. I often try to add flat lay photos if helpful to show the outline shape of a garment if it is hard to make out when it is on the dressform. I think all of this balances having an attractive cover photo that shows the styled potential of a piece (which I appreciate as a buyer bc it helps me see how vintage pieces can fit into a modern wardrobe) and also showing the actual size and shape so a buyer can make a good decision.
@@ShopFoxburrow I'd rather see a flat lay. Then I can see how it's cut. I have a large bust and need to see how a garment is shaped, relationship of bust to waist, etc. I think most plus size are experienced with holding up a garment and visually seeing if the shape will work for them or not.
@@aikanae1 I don't disagree, but for a lot of people they might not have a space to flat lay. I am lucky to have a full studio, but some folks are working from their dining room. I wish there was an easy answer! I've heard your comment many times from others too so you aren't alone
hi! you mention tagging items as "plus size" instead of "extended size" - my question is do plus size buyers search for "plus size" or just their actual size? thanks for all the info - love your channel!
Hi Shannon! So "Plus size vintage" and "Plus size dress" are two of my BEST keyword strings on Etsy. So my thinking is that people will search plus size + what they are looking for and then narrow it down with size, or look at many sizes to see what they can make work since options are more limited.
Great video - love the series.
Thank you for all your wonderful videos!! They are so so helpful!

My pleasure thanks for watching and giving feedback!!
Thank you for showing us how to list on Etsy! Great info!
You are quite welcome :D
Soooo Helpful. Thank you for the great info! Looking forward to this series. Already putting it into action!
This is a really good video, I tend to fall on the lower plus size end and always looking for shops that offer plus size vintage.

Thanks os much for the feedback! I'm so glad it was helpful :)
Great video! Definitely a pet peeve when plus size gets tagged as a 30-32 waist.

Very true! Not everyone is an hourglass.
Wonderful video! I love that you are getting the word out :)

Hah darn right, finders keepers ;) Love that you keep the pricing the same - me too!

Great video! Would you please share the link to that size chart?
Sorry about that! Here it is: www.ontheplusside.com/size
I’m so glad you said Fat lady clothes . I say that all the time
Yasss. Reclaiming!
I have one more pet peeve; when people use a std size mannequin and pin the garment in back. I can't see the shape of the garment.
True! Though IMO better to have it listed than to not pick up plus size at all
