- Bak Kut Teh is pork rib dish cooked in broth that is served in Malaysia and Singapore. The name literally translates from the Hokkien dialect as "meat bone tea", and consists of pork ribs simmered in a broth of herbs and spices for hours. Many people believe Bak Kut Teh has healing qualities.
Since I was in Singapore, I decided to try 2 different Bak Kut Teh shops. Song Fa is quite famous and recommended by many travel publications. It has multiple locations in Singapore but we went to the one inside the Jewel in Changxi Airport. Ng Ah Sio Pork Ribs Soup Eating House was recommended to us by our taxi driver. When we told him we want to go to have Bak Kut Teh, he told us he wanted to take us to where the locals go. Ng Ah Sio is located at 208 Rangoon Rd, Hong Building, Singapore in a non descript neighborhood.
