  • A headstone cleaning of two graves belonging to four of the eight LaRoche Children born to Isaac Drayton LaRoche (Aug 21, 1816-June 23, 1895) and Georgianba Roberts LaRoche (Jan 8, 1820-Dec 14, 1860). This grave is located in Historic Savannah.
    Isaac Drayton was a Cotton Factor and Real Estate Agent in Savannah, Georgia. He and his wife Georgianna had eight children together before her untimely death of Typhoid Fever at 40. While married, the couple built a home at 214 W. Harris Street Savannah, GA, which is now a luxury rental.
    After his first wife's death, Isaac would marry three more times and would go on to have six more children with two of his wives.

      I feel that way when I clean children’s stones. Parents have moved away or died. Wouldn’t they love it that I treated the stone of their loved this way? I love to clean children’s stones. Moms in heaven are smiling…..

    Bless you for the wonderful work you do. Here in our largest cemetery in Newcastle, Australia this type of work isn’t allowed to be done by just anyone, even repairs to a loved ones grave has to be done by those that work at the cemetery and it’s a paying job, meaning the families of the loved ones grave pay to have the work done and those that have no more living relatives are just left all neglected. It makes me so sad to see those that are like that, the cemetery would be so much more beautiful if volunteers were allowed to clean and restore the graves plus it shows love and respect for those dear souls that have departed. It shows they’re not forgotten ❤️

    I think it is a good idea to have squads of cleaners on Veterans day to clean up some of those veteran headstones in cemeteries not managed by the Federal Government. I have seen some real nasty looking headstones of some of our Civil War dead.

      I saw a YT video where the vlogger said the granite would have to be sealed after cleaning and then polished. My polisher is corded though. I don't understand why cemeteries don't offer headstone cleaning/polishing services. I'd pay to have my family's headstones serviced annually.

      From what I can find on Good Ole Google, water with a small amount of washing up liquid and a very soft nylon hand brush is the best way. Other cleaning agents are too acidic or basic and damaging to the stone.

    Did you find a stone just labeled annie

  • @IrishAnnie
    @IrishAnnie 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The date on the stone reads “died Oct, 1849”. The stone was most likely laid in 1850. By the measure of the date of your cleaning, the next cleaning will be 2196. Let’s pray the next three generations will clean this stone for prosperity. I cleaned one dated 1886. That means it will need a restoration in 2158. I won’t live to see the day, but, hopefully, someone will take up the mantle to clean it. It’s just an obsession with me to clean the old ones. It’s an honor especially if they read, “Gone but not Forgotten” and are a total mess.
