    Would love to see a video comparing a lot of the cheap branded Aliexpress motors. Like 'Surpass Hobby', 'ReadytoSky' etc. The ones that are half if not a quarter of the price of a lot of branded motors and see if they are any good! 👍

    Thank you for your hard work, it's appreciated. Anyway you can do a 4 inch long distance motor test with motors like the Flywoo Dave-C-FPV 1404 V2 2750kv or the t-motor or whatever you think would be the best for 4 inch long distance motors

    Can you tell us which motors are made by which manufacturor?
    Like HGLRC, foxeer, speedybee, aos, fpvcycle, ummagawd and many more are all made by rcinpower.
    Seems like the rotorriot hypertrain, webleed, oddityrc and many more are made by VCI.
    Axisflying split from t-motor as a seperate brand. I think those motors are also still made by t-motor.
    The pyrodrone motors are made by brotherhobby.
    Most eachine and low budget motors found on the big chinese vendors are made by flashhobby.
    It's a jungle out there, but maybe you can bring some light into the darkness. Basically knowing some of these facts might help to judge the quality, knowing which big manufacturor is making them.
    533 motors made by xnova not to forget.
    I'd like to know if iflight makes the xing motors themselves.

    Hi Chris, very interesting! Is there any possibility that the Split magnet design would benefit from Fettec/Kiss ESC sinusoidal commutation more-so than a regular magnet shape?
    Maybe I am thinking about it the wrong way, but wouldn't a slightly skewed magnet field be better driven by a 'smoother' commutation method?
    Finally, is there any benefit to lowered electrical noise in the case of a scewed magnet? Wouldnt the back-EMF be weaker?

    This is the video I’ve been waiting for. I’ve been eyeing those VCI motors since they came out thinking their unibell design may be more durable than the split bell of Axis (especially in the economy line). I wish we could test durability.

  • @ohJayFPV
    @ohJayFPV 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Since this is a power/weight comparison, the big thing to consider here is durability. Motors with more material and a bigger air gap, won't rank up as high in this comparison, but have the huge benefit of being more durable.

    • @LovesM855A1
      @LovesM855A1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats FALSE! Where did you get that nonsense….. magnet gap has nothing to do with durability or more material…. Geez

    • @ohJayFPV
      @ohJayFPV 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LovesM855A1 Lets compare 2 motors. One with a 1mm air gap and one with a 2mm one.
      Both have exactly 4mm of 7075 aluminium as bell.
      Both motors take a hit, which deforms the bell by 1mm.
      The bell of motor 1 will grind on the stator, but the other one can still spin freely.
      So I would conclude that motor 2 is more durable, or what do you think?

      @@ohJayFPV I think as well built as quality motors are these days with one piece bells made of 7075 t6 alum, and titanium shafts they can take a beating and days of fragile motors are OVER! If you do enough to do what you claim the motor is trash anyways

    I could be wrong but I feel like some of these motors would perform better with a different prop. Such as the Bubby motor, I would love to see the results with a 4" or 3.5" prop on it. I don't think every motor should use the same prop. It's like trying a v-8, v-6 and 4-cyl all in a heavy vehicle or all in a light vehicle. Some will perform better in heavy and some in light vehicles. I think that some motors specifically require a particular prop for optimum performance.

    ENGINEERING QUESTION (good idea for testing/video?) Pursuing the goal of long range/best efficiency/lower power draw, is it better to :
    1 - 4S battery, full throttle.
    2 - 6S battery, same propeller, reduced throttle
    3 - 4S battery, bigger diameter prop, reduced throttle.
    Motor/esc stay the same. Prop is chosen low pitch & have the best efficiency in 1rst case. Throttle is managed to get EXACTLY the same traction in the other cases.
    Interresting to know if esc frequency can change the result and maybe other parameters I don't see ?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hmm, for freestyle I usually like the most responsive motor but choose a low pitch prop even a slightly smaller prop like a 4934 for response and low throttle control. I even went 8s to try to amplify the torque response. I kinda keel like the weak motor crowd could do the same with just a lower kv but keeping with a big stator. Though, I'm not nearly the caliber of pilot represented here.

    i run my throttle mid at .22 and expo at .75 or something like that, it gives my throttle curve this funky shape but it feels reallllly good on the sticks, gives me a lot of precision around my hover point for landing and stuff, these pilots who cry about needing to have a "linear" throttle blow my mind, because if your throttle is "linear" then in reality it feels super not linear because the thrust increase from 25% to 50% throttle is much higher than say 50% to 75%, so having the expo actually makes it feel super linear, i wish more people would play with throttle curves

    • @Inertia888
      @Inertia888 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Flatten out the hover point? It seems obvious, but I'd never even considered it, in the year that I've been flying. I just kind of accepted that holding a steady hover, would be a continual battle between me and my sticks… Looks like I know what I'm doing for the next two days.👍

      @@Inertia888 i just double checked my throttle settings and i have on my 5inch a 0.25 throttle mid, and .5 expo. On my 3.5inch i have mid at .3 and my expo at .6. I also run scaled throttle limit (not motor limit) at 95%, it makes the quad feel a lot more stable and controllable at full throttle, because the pidloop can command that extra 5% throttle and not have only lowering the motor rpm as a means of stability and control and you really dont notice any loss of thrust, I fly rural areas with huge trees so im always full throttle ripping up and over the trees with movements while im at full throttle and i find it helps a lot to retain control and have a smoother rip, i run that 95% scaled throttle limit on all my quads

    • @Inertia888
      @Inertia888 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@christhorney I fly a similar landscape. I have a long and narrow field, about 90meters x 30meters, as a run-up to a patch of tall trees, about 25meters tall on average, and a bunch of older trees in there about 45meters tall. Lots of places to zip around treetops, and play around inside and under the canopy. The speed is fun, and whipping around the tall ones, I have found myself building a natural racetrack. But then slowing down and flying between the vines and thicker undergrowth is a whole different challenge, with its own excitement. It sounds like you've given me a great place to start. Looking forward to playing around with it, as soon as the rain stops. Appreciate the share! Happy Flying!
