    The DJ-5E should be put on the classics channel. I had NO idea those things where EV's! Learned something new today. Thanks Andre. :)

    Stellantis seems to be firing on all cylinders lately. They are executing on EXACTLY what the market wants and needs. Now, we just have to see how these new vehicles hold up for 6 or 8 years. For half a century that is where Ford and Chevy always easily beat Dodge----longevity. The cheapo low-ball parts Chrysler and Dodge always used eventually would bite you down the road. However since FCA came in, everything is Bosch, ZF, Bilstein, Brembo, etc. the best of the breed parts. That is precisely why RAM overtook Chevy: good quality parts. Let's see how these tech-heavy new Jeeps hold up. If this thing is still in great shape like a Lexus in 2027 I'll be a believer.

      No issues with my 5yr old Summit WK2, granted it isn't as technologically advanced. Looking forward to upgrading to a WL 4xe. I drove my friends Wrangler 4xe and the power was very impressive.

    Hi Andre, I’ve asked this question in a couple places but you guys would probably be the most likely to know:
    Within Grand Cherokee 4xE, do you have to step up to the Trailhawk to get the Towing Package? The online configurator kind of makes it look that way, but they advertise a 6,000 towing capacity for all the trims.

      Hello, I recently received my cherokee 4xe and was expecting to get the tow package. I was very irritated to find out it didn't come with one. It does have the rear cover that pops off and says tow hitch cover. I haven't been able to turn up a hitch for it yet. Nobody (including the ram/jeep dealership) knows either. After getting mine I found out the trailhawk comes standard with the hitch though... might be selling mine unfortunately because of the lack of towing capability.

    It's good you was in Texas as the trailer and jeep weigh....Let just say the combination was less than 7500lbs. Great review Andre but we've come to expect that, keep up the good work. 👍

    Please test towing on the highway. For me most towing would be going up 5000’ feet in elevation over 50-70 miles. All the charge would be gone. How would that 2l engine get the 6klb suv and 4 klb trailer up the mountain?

    • @markcarlson275
      @markcarlson275 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed!!! And they stopped offering the hemi as of now !

    • @exploringcolorado720
      @exploringcolorado720 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the important question. All these hybrids and EVs flex about all their power, but how far can you tow with a 2,500-4,000 pounds camper in the mountains? If it's less than 200-250 miles, or the batteries get drained before you've even left I-70, it just won't work.

    That payload is a dealbreaker for ,me the pathfinder is up around 1300 Lbs which at max tow makes it a 3 passenger SUV. The v6 version of the grand Cherokee would be closer to 1300 pounds I’m betting too. Those batteries are heavy on this SUV. When solid state batteries go mainstream this will not be such an issue.

  • @exploringcolorado720
    @exploringcolorado720 ปีที่แล้ว

    I need to know how this engine would do towing a camper through the rockies. Can you go 200 miles without needing to fill up, or running out of electricity (and the power that comes with it)? I'm thinking I need to hold out for the hurricane turbo 6 engine in the Grand Cherokee.

  • @dknjj
    @dknjj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good information. It would be even more helpful if you are able to test it out at highway speeds, using hybrid mode. I would imagine most of my towing excursions will be over 25 miles.

    So we know that Jeep set up this test for you, partly to showcase the vintage 'EV' mail Jeep, however I am curious: did they ask you to tow in all-electric mode? You would only have 10-12 miles of range I'd imagine. Why show that?

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why not show such a test? Being a PHEV, I’d be interested to see how it tows using just electrons.

    • @ericdavisii3912
      @ericdavisii3912 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never understood destination charges or dealer conveyance fees. Like it was gonna get shipped there regardless and dealers are asking for more money to do their job on top of the cut they get from selling..

    Where are all my hybrids in trucks I would love the fuel efficiency of a hybrid and then the towing power of a proper truck
    I use my truck 25% towing 75% transportation a good hybrid could work well. Full electric will never work for me

    I still can't figure out why 4xe shows 3500 lbs towing on the Jeep site, and Trailhawk shows 6000. what's the difference?

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 4xe is only a 4 cylinder gas engine even 3500lbs is pushing that little engine into an overload condition in most cases, the Trailhawk is available with a V6 or V8. With the V8 you get 7200lbs towing. The V6 gives you the 6,000lbs towing capacity. the issue you will run into with all these configurations is you exceed the payload capacity long before you will exceed the towing capacity, that is unless its just you in the driver seat and absolutely nothing else in the vehicle.

  • @moorgoon
    @moorgoon ปีที่แล้ว

    I have to admit I don’t get your calculation for payload limit - do you weigh 400 lbs

    $78K sigh...

    • @FullySpooled
      @FullySpooled 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MSRP starts at $58k on the 4xe. With the federal EV tax rebate, it's closer to $50,500. There are also brokers with around 8% off MSRP deals, so you'd be in the $45k range for a base 4xe. Granted it won't be the top of the line Summit, but still a really nice SUV for the price.

    Why does jeep give an 18 inch spare for AWD with 21s makes no sense.

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spares are often not full size for packaging, weight or cost purposes.

    • @WW-wf8tu
      @WW-wf8tu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is not just Jeep. MANY manufacturers supply SMALL spares. Just be glad it has 1. They are only meant for an emergency, so anything is better than run flats or nothing where they expect you to patch and air it up. I would think a fair amount of people have NEVER, nor will ever change a tire in their life.

    • @CharlietoKind
      @CharlietoKind 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the 18" is a 65 tall tire. the 21" is 45 tall. Not exact but similar ratio when rolling down the road.

      Quicker way to burn up the clutch packs in the transfer case to charge you ridiculous amounts of money to fix it....this was actually a recall in the 1st gen Grand Cherokees with full time 4WD because it would in fact burn up the viscous clutch in the transfer case and the limited slip differential clutches in the limited slip equipped vehicles.
