I have a set of wheels that I had put aside for six months after installing the TPMSs in the wheels, car didn’t recognize the sensors when I reinstalled the wheels, your tip on waking them up by letting the air out for 3s seems to have woke them up and the car now sees the sensors. Thanks! Saved me a trip to the tire shop.
This worked, thank you! I had only done TPMS relearns four or five times before, and I had never ran into a sensor that wouldn't trigger with my Autel MX808S-TS (other than known bad ones). I had four new OEM Ford TPMS-35 sensors installed today and one wouldn't trigger when I tried a relearn. I tried three times and was convinced that I had a defective one. After watching your video I tried to trigger it while releasing air from the valve stem, and after about four or five seconds it still wouldn't trigger. I stopped releasing air and was ready to give up on it and heard that beautiful "beep beep beep beep" and looked down to see that the sensor had been recognized! I was literally in the process of standing back up when it triggered.
Thanks for your help. I had installed new sensors, and was not able to program one of them. Releasing air and hitting it with the relearn tool did the trick. Thank you Thank you!!!!
Just so you're all aware in case your pressure light is on and you think the problem is one of your main 4 tires has a bad sensor make sure you check the spare tire as it also has a pressure sensor
Thank you for the video. I was wondering why I cannot scan my brand new out of the box REDI-Sensor and I was about to return it. I'll get it installed and then try scanning it.
Instruction Tag on DENSO 550-0103 aka Pacific PMV-C11A reads: REGISTRATION BY PRESSURE During the Trigger Step release air pressure from the wheel assembly (for about three seconds), Immediately followed by tool trigger initiation. The ID data should then appear on the tool. Continue to follow the procedures the tool requires to finish sensor registration process.
I changed the rear tpms which was faulty one . Front one used to play on and off sometime but was working when i changed the rear one .Now after changing it tried to relearn with tool. No beep on the front one and beeped on remaining 3 including rear one changed .But in dash its showing nothing in all 4 now any suggestions .
Ive been able to test good sensors before installing with the autel tool. Ive had 0 luck bringing new dead one back after installing airing and deflating
Yes, it is possible, but depending on a car. Every brand makes TPM systems differently. I’ve done it on my Toyota recently, a new video coming out soon.
Thanks for the video. I tried this for a Continental Redi-Sensor SE10008 and deflation as well as a magnet does not wake these sensors up. I did see a SnapOn tool that had an activation capability within the tool where my Autel does not.
I have a toyota and the software to input the new sensor ID. It shows on the cars computer now but will I need another tool? Can I install and using the toyota software check things? Under the dash of my prius there is a tire pressure system reset switch. Maybe I'll need to hit that also.
After I wake them up, My Saab 9-3 will already know which rim they are on. Saab does this by signal strength from each sensor. It's just a matter of kicking them out of bed! LOL! I'll probably end up trying the deflation method. They are MoreSensor compact pro TX-K001 sensors. What's your take on this?
I put on a different wheel because my original had a crack in it and now my sensor light won’t go off. After watching your video, I realize that the sensor is connected to the wheel. Is it possible to take the sensor from my old wheel and put it on the new one?
Yes, it’s possible. Only thing is you would need to go to tire shop to do that, tires must come off of the rims. It might be easier/cheaper to program sensors in your new tires into your car TPMS module.
What If I buy a regular tire or tires for spares and I have the current ones. Do I still need to program the sensors on the new spare? And I am not talking about the emergency spare.
I got from the continental (redi-sensor) tech line that Autel's maxiTPMS tool won't activate their "new generation" sensors. Never had a problem before...
Man, I have to buy a specific stupid tool just for tire pressure sensing? foolish tech , I'd rather go back to having cars just not equipped with this, it's not like it's hard to tell when you are low by air in a tire for crying out loud. The tire dash light doesn't bother me enough, I'll just leave it, f that. Or take apart the dash and get rid of the led.
I mostly agree with you and get what you're saying, but a TPMS sensor can give you an extra few seconds or minutes to pull off (or at least reduce speed) before a catastrophic blowout happens. But yes, it should be a habit to regularly check your pressure. I do once a week, especially during temperature changes.
Yeah, some are much more annoying than others. My wife’s car gives me a TPMS error message and the flashing indicator all the time that’s annoying as f. My Tacoma on the other hand, only has the indicator light that stays lit which is perfectly fine by me. Totally agree with you though, what a PITA.
Depends on the sensor brand. I was able to activate and register new sensors on my Tacoma like that, before I tool them to the shop to be mounted. Tried it on Volvo for someone - it didn’t work.
I have unreadible only one sensor and as per instruction I must have possibility to read all sensors ID from the car and after to copy to new one.But I can not on bmw g30 2017,2019.
Suzuki Vitara S. I did manual tpms reset procedure and programmed all id's (automatic re-learning didn't work). I hope successfully as at the end tpms led was solid for approx. 5 sec which means success as far as I found. However I have another problem. After turning ignition on and reaching approx. 30 km/h, tpms led is blinking showing with this blings digits 1,2,3 and next it blinks for approx. 10 km-12 according to sequence "long off, short off". After approx. 10-12 sec it blinks agains digits 3, 2, 1 (in reverse order, each digit is being blinked few times) and then I got the correct pressure values displayed when I enter tpms menu (earlier there is nothing). Do you perhaps know what this 1,2,3 - long off/short off - 3, 2, 1 sequence means? Is that some kind of calibration? And the problem is that this "calibration" procedure is repeated every time after turning off and on the engine (only if the engine is off for short time the system doesn't run again calibration). How to "remove" this "calibration"? There are not DTCs codes visible for typical diagnostic software.
2017 Silverado with Amazon Renectiv sensors that are not getting recognized either. There seems to be two different frequencies for Chev's, but my relearn tool is supposed to work for both, but not getting anything. 'Going to try releasing the air pressure method. Hope it works.
Nice! But the problem here is you do not know until is too late if the sensor will trigger or not! If it does not activate, you will have to disassemble the wheel again to change the valve and sensor. This is what happened to me :( The ideal is to be able to activate the new sensor before installing it. Here is the big problem with TPMS tools. They activate the generic sensors of their brands very easily, but it is much more complicated with the OEM ones

Yeah, I am seeing 50/50 success rate. I wonder if this has something to do with overheating. Recently I was testing new portable air compressor for review video. All of my sensors were fine. I fully deflated one tire, and pumped it back up. Immediately after that I got blinking TPMS warning light. The sensor is dead now and won't respond to TPMS tool. I suspect rapid deflating/inflating back to back could have generated a lot of heat and damaged the sensor. My compressor takes 5-6 minutes per tire. Many be that's too long for sensors. Tire shops have heavy duty compressors and those probably need less than a minute per tire.
@@DIYtime OK. Thank you Mr DIY Time. The reason I ask is cos a mate had to remove lots of tyres from steel wheels and didnt need the sensors and he gave me a bag. I was wondering if they stay good to use in my car if needed in future. Please.
