@@TheEnthusiasticGardener they are tough plants true enough. Lol my dog repeatedly dogs at the base of mine. He's a Belgian shepherd so a big boy... And a naughty one. 🤣
Hello!!! There might be an odd little bit of growth down the bottom of the stem but I can pull that off. Next Spring the new leaves will grow out the top, just like they did here, and I’ll pull this year’s off. It’s going to get taller and taller eventually but I like that look. So easy to look after 🥰
😊 so you have a funny husband too Nancy 😂 they make us smile don’t they? But brutal with the gardening though but the plants didn’t seem to mind one bit 😊 happy weekend to you 🥰
Yes, a lot of times I think why did I ask? I don’t think we have that Fatsia here in Canada. I’m a new gardener at the experimental stage. My husband is making me animals I stuff with moss and grow plants, it’s also topiary.
I’m making standards from branches too, as well as plants to standards. TH-cam is great to learn new things. I learned a lot on your channel, I love your garden. The thing I like most is you, taught me important lessons. 1. Let’s get on with it! 2. If it doesn’t make you happy get rid of it. That’s the hardest on but you are so right. Thank you.
Doesn’t sound too Happy about pruning I was surprised I thought he would enjoy spending time with his beautiful wife. But a little Encouragement by you he did get in and help.
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener good to know. I do like what you have done with it. And thank you, I am doing well 😘🥰. Lots of fun activities at home and in the garden this summer 🥰
Loved it Janette! My Fatsias are not yet big enough but when they are, I will do that. Have you ever tried propagating the Fatsia? Wouldn’t it be great to make new plants out of the prunings?
Hello Pamela, no! I’ve never tried propagating them! I need to look that up, maybe next year, I wonder if it’s possible? I love mine in tree forms, glad you do too because not everyone does. Thanks for watching 😍
Hi Richard tackled that job like a man.Gardening aside. You know when you buy new clothes, socks etc? My husband insists on just ripping off those plastic bits attached to the labels. So rough. Consequently my things have holes in before i wear them😣I now have to grab them out of his hands and i use a scissors to cut them off. I do think it's a 'man thing' because my husband is the same...and a godsend on other things😍🌸💕
Hi guys, I came across the video and found urs and I really liked it. The garden is magnificent. I love the Japonica. It's such a big bloom leaf plant. But O e question I have is that I have a balcony south facing g and I have 2 both in large plant baskets, do u think that's alright for them?
@P.willow hi there and I’d say yes! They are really tough plants and of course they are going to get big, but I have 3 in containers and they’re fine. As long as we remember that containers rely on us to provide all their water, they should be quite happy. And I have Fatsias in shade as well as sun too so they’re very versatile. 😊❤️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener Hi lovelies.. I have one in the sun and one in dappled sun/shade area ido this sometimes to see what the plant really likes if I'm not sure. They both look fine 2wks later and are not showing signs of distress 😊 Thanks soo much for the advice. I'm looking g into getting some bamboo also. I have loved Japanese maple and bamboo for a long time they're my favourite along with fern. My next green friend will hopefully be a lovely big bushy Bamboo to grow nice and tall. Have a lovely week. X
That is such a good test, planting them in different positions to see how they do! And I have to agree with you about bamboo, so many people shy away from them in case they’re invasive don’t they? But not all varieties are. I think they’re beautiful 🤩

@@TheEnthusiasticGardener they are tough plants true enough. Lol my dog repeatedly dogs at the base of mine. He's a Belgian shepherd so a big boy... And a naughty one. 🤣
😆😆😆
Bye for now my sweet friends can’t wait to see your husband back in the garden again he’s sort of sounds like my husband leave the gardening to me
Haha I think that’s the best idea 🤣
Janette, will the fatsia continue to grow just from the top, or will leaves still grow below the new growth (on the trunk)?
Hello!!! There might be an odd little bit of growth down the bottom of the stem but I can pull that off. Next Spring the new leaves will grow out the top, just like they did here, and I’ll pull this year’s off. It’s going to get taller and taller eventually but I like that look. So easy to look after 🥰
Oh Richard is so funny. Kind of like my husband.
Oh you’re in Canada 🇨🇦 isn’t it amazing how we can all so easily connect around the world? Fabulous. Your topiary animals sound wonderful Nancy 😊🥰
Thank you.
Aww Nancy thank you. Such lovely comments, just go for it and if it doesn’t work out, at least we’ve learnt something else 🥰
This is hilarious-the angry gardner
🤣🤣 but Debby, a week later and they are looking fabulous!! I put an update on Facebook & Instagram today … they’re alive 🤣🤣
Doesn’t sound too Happy about pruning I was surprised I thought he would enjoy spending time with his beautiful wife. But a little Encouragement by you he did get in and help.
🤣🤣 he loves it really (I think) 😊🤣
Be gentle Richard, demestic coming here 😬😂
😂😂 he was pretty brutal wasnt he? 😆🥰
Oh wow, I thought I might wet myself 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣 Lorraine, sorry about that!! 🤣🤣😍
🌿🌿🌿TEAM WORK‼️🌿🌿🌿
Hey Marlise, yes!!! I’m not going to give him any promotions though 🤣😍
Give the guy a break 😂😂
🤣🤣
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener your a hard task master 😬🌻🪴
😂 Richard is a good sport! 😂. The fatsia’s look very nice. Could you leave the old leaves on them or do they eventually dry up and fall off?
Hi Lauren, yes he is fun 😊 you can leave all the leaves on, they don’t shrivel up or fall off, just stay there really. Hope you’re ok 😍
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener good to know. I do like what you have done with it. And thank you, I am doing well 😘🥰. Lots of fun activities at home and in the garden this summer 🥰
That sounds exciting Lauren 😘 have a very fun weekend 😉
Loved it Janette! My Fatsias are not yet big enough but when they are, I will do that. Have you ever tried propagating the Fatsia? Wouldn’t it be great to make new plants out of the prunings?
Hello Pamela, no! I’ve never tried propagating them! I need to look that up, maybe next year, I wonder if it’s possible? I love mine in tree forms, glad you do too because not everyone does. Thanks for watching 😍
Hi
Richard tackled that job like a man.Gardening aside.
Oh yes!! Sharon, he does that too! Rips them off, how funny our men are 🤣😍
Imagine if Richard was a barber 💈 😂
Heaven forbid!
I think Richard was timing himself to see how fast it can be done.
Haha yes Sharon, I don’t think he has the patience for gardening 🤣🤣😊😍
Ive just bought 2 of these Fatsia Japonica😂
Hello there! I love my Fatsias, and a couple of years on from this video and I’m pleased to say they lived to tell the tale 😂❤️😊
I done that to mine yesterday, must admit I ruined it , it’s in my video 😬😬😬😬😬
Oh dear 😆 I bet you haven’t though Garry, it’s going to grow more. I’m going to go and have a look right now 👍😊🥰
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener it will grow 👍
Rich the angry gardener 😂
Yes! 🤣 don’t let him near anything tender 😆
The money they save on pruning shears, allows them to buy more plants
Thanks for watching Jordan and I promise he doesn’t do and pruning any more!! 😊🩷💚
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener ok good. You need to keep him far far away from all your beautiful plants
He leave me alone I’m resting 😊
🤣🤣🤣
He should be using two hands when pruning… I’m worried he will break that thing in half. This is painful to watch. I’m at 4:24. I’ll keep watching. Pray for me 😅
Good morning to you Jordan! This was painful I do agree 😆 do you know though, 2 years on they are both thriving, although I prune them myself now 😊 wishing you a great day 🥰
Name change for your channel?
The Enthusiastic Gardener and The Grumpy Gardener
Haha yes! You’re so right 😊
Looked as painful as waxing hair! Shocking ! 😱
Hi s jay, yes it was shocking. I think it’s like pulling off a band aid, do it quick and it won’t hurt as much! The Fatsias are fine, although no more pruning for Richard 😊
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener well thats good to know. Now i know how to tidy mine up.fab video Janette, keep it hoing.
Thank you s jay 😉👍☀️
🤣🤣🤣
Hey Dawn 🤣 thank you 😊
No not the other one too 🫣
😖😆😎
Richard needs to get yanked out of that garden 😂 and a restraining order charged against him for how he’s treating that poor plant
Yes!!! 😆😆
😂
😆😃 glad to make you smile 😊
U lumt😊
Hi Trina, not sure what that means 🤣 but thank you 🤣🤣😁
How to get banned from gardening 🤣🤣
🤣🤣 yes 😊😊😊
Divorce him immediately...!!!))
