Ive been fishing there off and on since the late 80's, when I was a kid and before they put in the dock or bridge. I never caught a tarpon there once. I've caught a ton of Sheephead, black drum, redfish and Snook, among other stuff. If I had to guess, I would guess a large Jack Crevalle. But that is just a guess from a guy who wasnt holding the rod.
Good luck! Fish were very tight to the mangroves when I filmed this so plan on losing some gear but hopefully it will be worth it! I'm not sure what my plan is today, but if you see me feel free to say hello!
