Thank you for the extensive review. I dislike owning the same pencils with different retailers branding. I get confused easily so I'm very grateful for the amount of work you were willing to do to determine which other set of pencils where closest to these new Kalour's in performance. Excellent video.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I like to see the blending test. I use coloring books & I need easy blend pencils 😂
I enjoy the Swatching Crystal.💐💐
Great sleuthing! Thanks for the review!
Thank you for comparing different sets!
I buy the Ccfoud blender pencils from temu. They have a set of 24 for under 10.00. I also believe Brutfuner and Ccfoud are the same pencils. At least the black barrel sets seem to be.
@terilew1 yes, a lot of the ccfound pencils are Brutfuners, I don't think they even changed the pencils just the outside of the box.
Thank you for doing the sleuthing. I don't think there's anything nefarious going on. I just think there's only a few colored pencil factories in China and they host multiple brands. Kalour and Brutfuner are definitely made in the same place to the point where people have bought Kalour sets and found Brutfuner pencils inside the tin. And we know several companies, including Brufuner, picked up those discounted defective Shuttle Art black barrel pencils that were going around a few years ago. While I love the new Castle Arts Harmonious set, the colors and the feel of the pencils feel exactly like some of the dusky grays, blues and purples from some of the trays in the Brutfuner 520 flower box sets. Earlier this summer, Arteza mysteriously was out of stock at the same time the original Star-Joy pencils were back in stock (72 set). After those sold out, all of a sudden Arteza had a bit of stock that went on sale. I'm certain they use the same factory and each brand was given a turn to produce its pencils. Kind of like how magazines use the same 2-3 printers. I just recently got one of the larger (150) Marco Tribute sets. I didn't notice it with the 80 pencil special collectors set, but swatching the larger set out, I'm like "these feel like something I've used before..." I haven't figured out what they are yet... Anyway, it's good to know that these pencils are the same as the Castle Arts Gold. Now I won't feel like I need them!
@vishneva2000 I know that castle arts and the star joy pencils do get some of the same materials from the same factory just from talking with the Star-Joy owner. I don't think they are connected with anything Arteza does, though. Arteza has been known to use different factories at different times to make their pencils, that's why the quality is so inconsistent. Star-Joy reintroduced the original 72 set back a few years ago not that many people noticed because they were in a pencil wrap. Then they tweeked them a bit again and put them back out in a tin last year. I have reviews up of both. I'll give you the links in the comments.
This is the first time star joy reintroduced the originals in a 72 set th-cam.com/video/44TWUUOjYUA/w-d-xo.html

@@CrystalsColorStyle Thank you. I meant that they were back in stock. I'll edit my comment to reflect that. There was definitely a moment when Arteza was available and the classic Star Joys weren't. And then the Arteza were unavailable and at the same time the Star Joys were back in stock. Then those were out of stock and the Arteza was back. Maybe it's a coincidence. I'm not saying these are the same pencils. In fact, a lot of them don't feel the same. Each brand often has its own formula. They've picked out their own colors from those on offer (I watched a video of Lori Green's when she talked about helping with the Star-Joy Gold set and she said she was shown 500+ colors and then she selected the ones she wanted).
@vishneva2000 Yeah, Star-Joy was planning on discontinuing the original set to move forward only with the Golds and to make more subsets with the Golds like a skintone, landscape sets etc. They just happened to have the wraps available with 72 slots when they heard people were disappointed they could get the originals anymore. They thought having both would be confusing to the customer. Unfortunately, when it was around the time of the pandemic and the economy never really recovered and sales wouldn't support going forward with the Golds expansion.
I like the swatching, but it’s fine however you prefer.
Appreciate the comparison ❤
They are made at the same factory they are then sold under multiple brand names
@lauralariviere8593 That is sometimes the case, but not always. What you're describing is white labeling, but there's also multiple other levels of manufacturing and production options brands and sellers use. Private labeling is one I see a lot of people confusing or using interchangeably for white labeling.
Kalour ones look brighter
@jamie6360 it might just be the lighting in real life they look pretty much identical, give or take depending on how much pressure I might have used 😅
The way you describe the feeling of the castle art gold is exactly the same feling I've had with the caran d'ache luminance. feels plasticky on paper get stuck, not a smooth lay down, even with squeezy sound with every stroke. I returned them. So I completely understand what you you mean by plasticky.
Maybe you can pre-swatch half of the card and then swatch the other half on video for those who like to watch the swatching and see how the pencils do....
Than the castle arts gold
I like to watch switching so I can see how the pencils do. If they are scratchy and stuff like that.
I GOT TO HAVE THEM ALL 😂

@@CrystalsColorStyle you know me, lol 😂
I have found iBayam color pencils for the best everyday use plus they are under 10.00 for a set of 72 ...I really enjoyed your videos...I do have Kalour sets but don't used them much
That's kind of funny because I think IBayam and Kalour are the same pencils just re-branded. After I read your comment, I searched Amazon for IBayam. When they came up, just two photos away to the right were a set of Kalour 72 for $10. (The IBayam are currently $8 for 72.) The packaging between the two is strikingly similar as well as the appearance of the pencils themselves. I'm pretty sure they're made in the same factory. However, even though they look almost identical, it's still possible that there's a difference in the actual formula for the pencil cores. In the end, it's all a matter or personal preference. (And hey, $8.00 for a set of 72 is an awesome deal.)
Like watching swatching
They look exactly like schprierr farbens to a t
@jamie6360 Yeah, they do look similar, but there are a lot of different pencils that use that type of barrel design. When brands get pencils made to order, so to speak from a manufacturer, they can choose a variety of options like the colors, wood type, or design, etc.
Makes me wonder if the regular Kalour pencils are the same as the regular Castle Arts pencils. 🤔
@maryannprzybycien2013 I don't think so. They don't really feel anything alike imo. They're more similar to a basic Brutfuner pencils.
Yes, skip the swatching and get straight to how they lay down and blend...
Hello Crystal Sorry to bother. In your opinion Marco Renoir coloured pencils and the Marco Tribute /Masters 150 count if you could explain the diffence i would appreciate it. There will be more colours but i would like to know what the differences are please. I do not have any Kalour but will watch your video💐💐
@robynbroderick6822 Hi Robyn 👋 I did a review of the 120 set of the Marco Tributes a few months ago. I did a comparison of the Renoirs and the Polychomos pencils too towards the end. th-cam.com/video/EoXFB3NmcBs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lQeSaqaMVQKw4yKh
@@CrystalsColorStyle Hello Crystal Thankyou for the info. And thankyou for all the reviews 💐💐
What is castle art? Never heard of them
They're an art supply brand
They look like sphrirer farbens..
@jamie6360 Yeah, there's a few different sets with similar barrels. Like Marco Renoir's and Sargent Art Supreme sets.
Unfortunately many of the colors are similar! What a bummer, they should have chosen a better color selection
@coloredbymaia6476 Yeah, I actually messed up when I was swatching the reds. I got them all mixed up 🫣
Sorry but I found your review so confusing it was a waste of time.
@@sharonkeogh2290 Thanks for watching ❤️
